right but that’s part of the charm - the attempt to port a pc-style game to the consoles.
and darkstalker you are right, there is a strange preponderance (a renaissance if you will) of this type of game on the Nintendo DS (Dark Spire is what you are thinking of I think), perhaps because the dual screen is well suited for the stats on one screen, action on the other style of play.
there’s a game like that on ps3, cant remember what it was called but it should be on the japan marketplace. good luck finding it and god speed playing it
i thought God Of War 3 sucked. Too buggy and makes for cheap ass deaths… I think Bayonetta shitted all over this game even on the PS3. Gameplay made up for framerate issues. Gameplay is more important than graphics. Just cause it was a PS3 exclusive people arent complaining much and will say the game is great. Yet people nitpicked the shit out of Bayonetta, So im pretty sure im alone on that one
While I think GoWIII FAR from sucked, I absolutely agree with you that Bayonetta was a better game. Combat was perfect and far less buggy than GoWIII, plus I felt it had a lot more re-playability
Anyways, I think FFXIII is better than ANY of the older FF games, mainly anything FFVII or older. Anyone who says something like FFIV or FFVI is better than FFXIII needs to get off their nostalgia train. Hell, I’d place FFXIII higher than most FF games to be honest. The combat in FFXIII alone makes other FF games look boring, not to mention the game has one of the best casts in the series.
Also, I think CoD has got to be one of the worst and most boring FPS games out there. What’s the big deal about these games? The single player loses to pretty much any decent shooters(hell, even Killzone 2 had a better campaign), and the online gameplay loses to TF2, Halo 3, Counter-Strike, and many others for free. Doesn’t come close. Are graphics really that important? Even if they were, there are better looking games too, so I will forever not understand what people see in this series.
I like all rpgs even jprgs, since im a dragon quest fan, and im 28. The only games I cant stand are sports games, there boring as hell. Only sports game I ever liked was NBA Jam for snes
-I thought final fantasy 8 was a great game. Some plot holes here and there but I found it very enjoyable. Music was nice too.
-I believe Nago is the best character in kirby. I really wish he appeared in more kirby games or had a solid cameo in the TV show.
-I think F.E.A.R should get more attention. I haven’t tried out F.E.A.R 2 due to low specs on the PC but I find it enjoyable how there is one part dedicated to combat and another for surprise things.
-I thought Deadspace was the most boring piece of crap ever. The zero gravity parts sometimes screwed around too much with the camera angles.
-There needs to be more Way of the Samurai games. Multiple endings influenced by choices and lots of weapons for hack and slash = replay value for me.
-HALO is overrated
-There needs to be more puzzle games like safecracker and riven. I’m tired of having choices boil down to hack and slash, fps, or fighting most of the time (I like the games but I miss having puzzle games that tickled your brain)
-Street Fighter 4 was a cop out. I thought it was gonna be an extension of the story but found out that it’s like a segway.
-No More Heroes needs a better main character. His bro is better.
I love a good 1st person dungeon crawl. I haven’t played any of the old school ones that you mentioned, but I do love Etrian Odyssey, The Dark Spire and the SNES SMT games. I’m playing Strange Journey right now and it’s already one of my favorite DS games.
There’s a Wizardy game for the DS, but I doubt it will ever get localized.
