Street Fighter EX3 is Street Fighter IV, except it’s good.
FF in general sucks.
Brawl is worse then Melee.
MB is meh.
3s>TVC>Everything else>Dog Shit>SF4 (Hopefully Super wont suck)
OoT<Link to The Past.
SF4 barely takes any skill at all.
Original Sun Chips ARE the best chips.
Supercade seems to lag a lot.
Peggle should of been at EVO instead of MB.
Dudley is the best SF character ever.
C groove Yun is god tier.
MG in general sucks.
Super Mario World>SMB3
EarthBound is the best RPG of all time.
Chrono Trigger is 2nd.
Mother 3 and 1 tie for 3rd.
Chrono Cross can suck it.
Ken and Yun take skill in 3s GTFO.
Id like to know what games you think have good controls?
Speaking of SF characters, FUCK all you Q haters, you can all go get ran over by a car full of dead babies
I still like KOF 2002 the best out of all the KOF series
007: goldeneye is ASS, fps’s on console didnt start getting good til halo 1, but even halo 1 is ass.
tekken 4 was a good game. the ost was dope, the announcer was dope, the costumes were dope, the HUD was dope, I was loving EVERYTHING as far as the aesthetics of the game cept the unlockable characters. even the wall carry combos are fun. yes they are broken but that game laid the ground work for 5.0, 5.1, dr, and 6/br as far as the wall game goes I believe.
VF is super mediocre. SEGA should just say fuck it with their new games. oh wait, they did.
3S, tekken, ssbm, and MVC2 are the best fighting games bar none. whoever says marvel and 3s are random and 3s is a guessing game and shit like that simply hasn’t played it enough. the dudes who even say that prolly play ST which is way more random then any of the games previously listed.
almost everyone who I play in offline 3s that doesn’t play it that much or hasn’t played in a while say something along the lines of “3s is fucking amazing” or " I love fighting games." so it has to be good.
they call it mashy blood for a reason… I still like it tho lol.
BB is a good game with a good engine. the only problem of it is BROKEN AS FUCK.
there are no good FPS’s on 360 currently. Bioshock/2 are like the best ones out but even that is like 4/10
oh and Arcana is godlike.
and sf4… I love that game but I fuckin hate it at the same time.
Burn, heretic!
Playing Smash Bros. with no items on neutral stages is boring as shit and not how the game was meant to be played.
TvC: Ultimate All Stars is the best game in the Vs. series. Fuck Mahvel Baybee - that shit needs to stay dead.
I thought Unlimited Saga was a great game, I rather liked the minimilast approach of it’s design. The excellent music is what gave it atmosphere.
I like SF4. I say fairly often that the game is ass but I still really like it. Sure it has issues but its fairly well balanced and I enjoy it a lot.
FF tiers starting with FF6. If you disagree, u mad or are confusing nostalgia with being a good game.
FFT, FF9, FF8, FFX, FFX-2 > FF6 > FF7 >>>>>>>>> FF12.
FFT has the full package of gameplay and story, FF9 lacks in gameplay a bit but makes up in story, FF8 lacks in story but makes up in gameplay, FFX and FFX-2 both kick ass in gameplay but have bad stories. FF6 has a bad story and annoying gameplay, it is redeemed solely by Kefka and the okay job system. FF12 is one of the worst games made, period.
imo.
Here’s an unpopular one:
The David Sirlin philosophy of game design, where execution hurdles and pointless grinds are minimized and removed wherever possible, is the CORRECT philosophy.
Here’s another one:
The Baroque system, which includes a brief pause to allow for input of your next command, is INFINITELY SUPERIOR to Roman Cancel-style systems without such a pause, including but not limited to FADC.
Here’s one more for the hat trick:
With very few exceptions, JRPGs are mediocre at best. Who’s going to make the closest-to-perfect JRPG? A western developer, within 10 years.

I am pretty surprised that people still can blindly attach themselves anything made by Japan with the shit-tier RPGs they have produced lately. Anyone that legitimately enjoys DQ games (read: the Japanese and weeaboos) are also prime candidates for full frontal lobotomies. Further include FFX12 and Star Ocean 3 and 4 games and you have an ocean full of yuck. Apparently the Persona series is semi-redemption and I have heard things, I tried the Shin Megami series and I was not all that impressed but apparently the two are different enough to warrant judging them separately. Regardless, since Lost Odyssey, which was at best mediocre, JRPGs have generally been awful.
The linearity of JRPGs is the acceptable loss to allow the companies to come up with a top-tier story. It is a cop out when a company uses that linearity to create a shitty story with basic JRPG gameplay and instead decides to make it look REALLY PRETTY.
imo.
#1 Agreed.
#2 What games use this? It sounds good. Are you referring to things like the KoFXII version of CCs? If so, then yes. Absolutely.
#3 What’s a hat trick? :wonder: I don’t speak Canuckese.
#4 MOST JRPGs are mediocre at best. As are the overwhelming majority (giggle snort majority) of WRPGs.
World of Ruin is usually the favourite choice to bash FF6, yet I think it’s the best thing about the game. I still find it to be pretty terrible, but definitely not for that reason.
I agree with Darkstalker in that Bioware (and CT too) is not that good. ME2 is one of the best RPGs I ever played, but I think the rest of their games range from mediocre to terrible. I can’t stand Baldur’s Gate at all. I tried many times to play it since it gets a lot of praise but I just can’t do it. Same thing with Dragon Age. KOTOR 1 wasn’t terrible, but the battle system had some really annoying flaws (like getting out of the way of an attack, the enemy clearly hitting the air but still managing to hit you…). Mass Effect 1 has so much dumb shit in it that I can’t enjoy the things it does right. Thankfully ME2 solves most of ME1’s crap and improves the good ideas it had.
KOF 2k2 is the only game that got Custom Combos right.
Lothar: Did you try Valkyrie Profile? Good battle system, relatively non-linear, few typical JRPG crap, good story too. The bad things about it are that it’s pretty much impossible to figure out how to get the good ending without a faq and that guts + auto item breaks the game, but I still think it’s great and definitely the best to come from Japan in the genre.
I played it a bit and watched my friend play it and it was pretty fun. I’d rank it up there with the other notable Playstation RPGs including Chrono Cross (fuck the haters) and the other Final Fantasies.
imo.
FFT > 6.
I know somebody else posted this “unpopular opinion” earlier.
I’ve posted it numerous times across SRK - from the PS3 thread, to the FF thread, and beyond.
But I felt it needed to be reiterated.
Speaking of Jrpgs, my last one I played was Shadow Hearts 3 was back in 2006. That was the last good Jrpg that has come out and people that like turned based should actually play this series if they haven’t already.
In fact, probably one of the best overall to come from Japan.
The most fun I have had playing a JRPG has been from the Shadow Hearts series, real talk.
imo.
I was referring to the Baroque system in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, which is like a Guilty Gear Roman Cancel with a small pause on activation, greatly reducing the dexterity needed to successfully follow up.
A hat trick means to score three goals in one game. So if Cloud’s son Jim Strife becomes a hockey player and scores three goals in a single game, it’s a hat trick.
I agree completely, but I’m damn well near certain it’s going to be a western developer that takes the good from JRPGs, filters out the bad, and makes the Next Big Thing? in JRPG-style games.
Dr. B scores hat tricks everyday at the sport of throwing apocalyptic demons into distant suns.
Amen, brother. Amen.
I like digital distribution more than physical copies.
I don’t buy used, tend not to sell, & have boxes of NES, SNES, PSX, etc games that I haven’t touched in years. When I do feel the urge to play one of them, I just fire up an emulator. That’s not an endorsement for emulation, but rather for the convenience of digital media. Sentimental attachment/DRM/etc issues aside, it’s so much more practical.
