I disagree. That’s a story for another day, though.
I like 2 button throws.
Fuck.
Yes.
I looooooooove that game. I still have it and pop it in once in a while. When it came out, I played the shit out of it, but most people I know were too busy brewing fondues in their pants over halo 2. Had some good times with UC2.
As for an unpopular opnion? Breakdown for the original xbox was one of the most amazing single player FPS’s (or more like first person brawler for a large part of the game). I only say it’s unpopular as most people have probably never even heard of it let alone actually played it
Hell yeah, dude. I hate proximity throws, somehow. Even though I know better, I always think, “this will never work. I’m just going to fierce.”
Hehehe I feel the same way.
I think RE5 is fun but 4 is loads better. I also think those old REs are fucking annoying to play. Those camera angles couple with those tank controls make for a very frustrating expirence. It’s not scary (No RE is scary) it’s just annoying.
Now lets see…an unpopular gaming opinion. Hmmm. Halo is a lot of fun and has a really well told story. I only like the campaigns though I never play online Vs or anything.
Onimusha needs a next gen sequel.
you only like RE4 because ashley was in it
I don’t think this is unpopular. Most of the complaints people had in CT dealt with top 3 dominance, which was somewhat fixed in CS (Bang/Litchi/Ragna are nowhere near as bad as Rachel/Arakune/Nu). More people like it than hate it. Not to mention the game got really good press reviews.
I feel that “being short” is not a bad thing for a game. Must every game be 40+ hour quests with half of that being either filler, fetch quests, cutscenes, or battle screens? I actually like it when games cut the nonsense and get straight to the point (old-school action games, shmups, and platformers do a very good job at this).
Indeed. I cannot tolerate it at all. I saw an SRKer here do a playthrough of RE 2 and 3 and I recall there being zomibies you couldn’t see until you move towards them and then the camera angle switched. I tried playing RE2 myself. Screw those controls.
This is a great thread by the way.
Let’s see…
(1) Bayonetta was a decent game but wildly overrated, and certainly NOT better than Devil May Cry 3, 4, or 1 by any stretch of the imagination.
(2) Dead Space was absolutely fucking stupid. It astounds me that people can (with a straight face) complain about Resident Evil controls and like Dead Space. Fuck that. Every complaint that is leveled at Resident Evil can be leveled at Dead Space.
(2b) Resident Evil 4 was not the best game in the series. That honor belongs to resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
(3) Most people here actually like the following games, it’s just cool to hate them on SRK: Halo, Resident Evil, and the numbered Final Fantasy games.
(4) Despite number 3, Unreal Tournament multiplayer >>>>> Halo multiplayer.
(5) “Best Games” and “Most Important Games” lists are two DIFFERENT lists; and you don’t have to like a game for it to be important.
(6) Most Important Games/Series in recent memory: God or War, Halo, Modern Warfare, Resident Evil, Madden, NBA2k Series, Street Fighter IV. You don’t have to like them, you don’t even have to play them, but you should recognize the contributions these games have made to video games being taken seriously as an industry, as opposed to just a verdy past time.
(6b) Best Games in recent memory: This isn’t the thread, but that’s your own personal list.
(7) Game developers have no idea how to make a difficult game anymore. Now everything is either absurdly easy, gimmicked so there is no penalty for poor play (i.e., Bioshock’s Vita Chambers), or cheap hard (Ninja Gaiden remakes/Bayonetta).
(8) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was the best game on PS1.
(9) PS1 was the best console to hit thus far. (Not talking about hardware here, talking about quality and variety of games).
SotC is soooooo fucking boring. Rent it, beat it in like 7 hours, never play it again. Get that pretentious, artsy bullshit away from my video games, please.
The thing with Halo, was that it was the right game at the right time. It doesn’t do anything really original, but it does it all well. Open-field fighting, easy to use vehicles, two-weapon system, rechargable sheilds, a “cinematic” story with a great plot twist, an incredible soundtrack, pretty intelligent AI, and 16 player lan, all in one package for consoles(who were still losing their shit over Goldeneye and Perfect Dark). You can trace pretty much every single element of Halo back to other games and other forms of media, but the fact is it was a well-produced, polished product, that pretty much every console FPS since has been inspired by it(whether it be the controller-layout, rechargable shields, two-weapon system, etc). Throw in the fact that it pretty much jump-started the online console gaming juggernaut with Halo 2. IMO, Half-Life 2 and its various episodes are the greatest single player shooters ever, and Team Fortress 2 the best multiplayer, but Halo has its charms, and I still think they’re great games. Eagerly anticipating Halo Reach.
I agree with the majority of what you wrote, but most emphatically with the above.
Nah, she was just a cute mission objective. I liked that game because of the gameplay and the weapon selection. Besides, we both know the best character in the game is the Merchant.
IDK, I always saw PS2 as having the best and widest variety of quality games. From Okami to DMC3 to Ratchet and Clank to Psychonauts to MGS3 to Viewtiful Joe to even Zone of the mothafucking Enders 2(they really need to make a sequel to that). Genesis is probably my “favorite” console, but PS2 probably takes the crown(although SNES is a contender for that title as well).
This man.
Listen to him.
…Yes. I bought a black trenchcoat just to ask people what they’re buying and selling. And at a great price.
Sounds like someone got raped in the first few hours of the game and got discouraged. The first few hours are the most difficult, then you understand the gameplay more and how you’re supposed to approach things, then, it becomes a lot more enjoyable.
Didn’t you have a Sephiroth AV not that long ago?
The hell? How can you like RE4 but not like 5, when the core gameplay is literally exactly the same?
Personally, I never had any problems with the older RE games controls, at all. None. Even at a young age it wasnt so complicated for me to understand that rotating the analog stick made my character face a different direction, then from there I press up+X. Is that really so difficult that it translates to bad controls for some of you guys? I don
t know how you guys play some games that require some real finesse and precision, like fighting games.
I’ll take a crack at this one.
#1 Shiva - the game is nowhere nearly as nail bitingly “Oh shit! I’m on my motherfucking own.”
#2 Nigh unlimited ammo - who the fuck needs a knife? Or frugality? Blast until all is dead; rinse, repeat.
#3 Not even creepy - let alone frightening; zero atmosphere.
Ps2 is STILL the best console out.
I honestly could never choose between the PS1, the PS2, the SNES, and the NES.
So I agreed with his sentiment, and yours… I just happen to think it’s a four-way split.
