Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

If you’re referring to my statement, I didn’t actually say why I have a distaste for it, but I can give reasoning if you really want to question my argumentative skills.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. Gray Fox saying “I like FF7, fuck you.” WTF is that?

What? what I do? >.>

I wasn’t replying to anyone in particular, just the fad of hating on popular and successful franchises like Halo. I’m not referring to any one person with my post.

You assume people hate it because it’s popular, which I guess is a fair assumption if you have no other idea. The thing is, I felt sort of meh about the games. I had to hear how they were the second coming of christ and how nobody before had ever done anything like that.

I’m like, shit I’ve been doing this for like a decade now. Have you fools heard of wolfenstein? doom? quake? unreal? Shit’s been around for ages. All of a sudden halo comes out and it’s a big deal. The fanbase too, oh god the fanbase. Halo always manages to drag in the drunken fratboy market, the anti-gamer. Blech.

Like I said, my issue isn’t with you specifically. We could drag this out but I rather not. I could talk about why Halo’s special and you can talk about why it isn’t. We could go on and do the whole ‘agree to disagree’ silliness. Mind you, I like a good debate and I’m usually up to hear other points of view - but I didn’t come here for that. Another time, another place.

DAO is the best rpg in a long time.

Baldur’s Gate 2 weeps blood for this.

Oh, and also: Ephidel > Fir.

Dead Space is horribly overrated and isn’t even scary after the first two chapters or so. It just way overdoes it with the lights out/sneak attack/terrifying orchestra strike… by the 4th or 5th time you get jumped by some mangled mass of snarling body parts your just like “okay, enough already.”

I also don’t know what the Hell people are seeing in Dead Space. That game is all hype and I’m not being overly critical either.

  • Blazblue is a good game
  • Fanboys trying to fight “console wars” for companies are stupid
  • Games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 are overated
  • Japan not getting a game first doesn’t level everyone down, it just means that everyone starts at the same time and you are also playing whilst the stuff is being discovered and maybe making discoverys yourself, it’s the west getting the games late that causes any leveling down.

Ah yes… Dead Space. It didn’t suck, but it wasn’t that great either, in my opinion. It was just ok for me…something I might consider one day when I see it selling for 20 bucks.

-Dual-stick shooters are much more enjoyable to me than any other kind. They could release 50 more of those kinds of shootemups, and I’d still want to play every last one of them if they at least look interesting. I see other “regular style” shootemups now as inferior in terms of gameplay. These games also support more randomness with the enemies, since they can attack the player from all sides. Compare this to a vertical or side-scrolling shooter where the enemies and bosses have set patterns. Anyone can beat patterned bullshit if they manage to memorize enemy placement, the shots, and where the safe spots are. I think it takes a more interesting and perhaps higher level of skill to deal with a game that can throw hordes of enemies and bosses at you in random ways.

-Unreal Championship 2 is still the best game that no one gave a fair chance…one of the best games ever that sold like shit. I’ve hated the general gaming audience ever since that whole fiasco. It’s like that Bizarro World again where a Super Mario Bros. 3-caliber game just came out, and people never noticed…and I’m the only one left wondering “What the fuck is WRONG with you people?! God fucking dammit.

Forgot another couple,
-Realism in games is overrated, give us the lifebars back.
-Chromehounds is the best mecha game this generation, nothing can beat the feeling of weight behind the robots and the team play that various elements like the towers give (Just a shame the XBL party system had to come and ruin that)

  • Arcade sticks being the optimum method of playing fighting games. The optimum method is whatever you’re best with.
  • Same with FPS games and the mouse/keyboard vs controller rhetoric.

When was this an unpopular opinion?

Moving along, anybody that thought Super SF4 should have been DLC has no understanding of how fighting games work or is a raging Valve fanboy who probably was part of that fucktarded L4D2 boycott. Or both.

I’ve seen a consensus for one button throw.

i hate the halo saga, yeah i played the shit and it plays like shit. still dont understand what people see in this. most people i know got cured ater finishing 1 shitty game, but its still got a fanbase (wtf?).

also the BEST snk series ever was SS, problem is that after SSII the game never got improved (cause they was 2 busy hyping up kof and killing SS, if you where old enough back then and owned a neo or played at arcades youll know what i mean). FF and KOF where the best series of snk along with LB. personally i find them to shit all over the capcom counterparts, sf was gold, DS was def good, the vs series sucked ass, unless wee talking bout cvs).

Resident Evil 4 is the only good game in the series. Every game that came before and after it is a poorly written, poorly made shitfest. It’s not scary, the controls are fucking garbage, the story is fucking garbage, and the dialogue is bad enough that it makes Barbie’s Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue look like BioShock. Resident Evil is a fucking joke. You want survival-horror? That’s cool. Go play Silent Hill. Go play Rule of Rose. Fuck, even Dead Space is better than every game in the Resident Evil series that doesn’t have the President’s obnoxious daughter and her fake-ass tits.

I agree about RE 4 being a huge step up from prior RE games.

I also consider, though, that RE 5 is better than 4 in every possible way. Except Iron Maidens, of course. And there’s no well written RE game lol. It is meant to be a homage to B-Movies after all.

RE 4 is both the only good RE ever made, and one of the greatest games of all time.
