yeah seriously, mmorpg’s are all about time really. if you put enough time in d2, wow, eq, or anything youre eventually gonna have all the best shit at the highest level with no real skill reqiured.
plus if you dont have time you can just “buy” good items and high level characters
Being the highest level in a MMORPG is the equivalent to finishing the game in a fighter. It doesn’t mean shit, and nobody claims that it does. There are tons and tons of people who play WoW 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week since the game came out, and have never seen end-game content because they simply don’t have what it takes.
I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again: For both WoW and SF, you can’t judge either game until you’ve played both competitively.
Not true at all. Spending a lot of time will only get you so far. To beat endgame content, you need a really good team. To get really a good team, you have to prove your worth.
I’m not claiming that MMO’s take more skill than any other genre. It just takes a lot more than people give it credit for, and on top of that, it takes a lot more than just skill.
When I played tons of WoW, I had to defend Street Fighter on WoW boards, the same way I’m defending WoW right now on a Street Fighter board. People say ridiculous shit like “Fighting games take no skill. The only thing that matters is who does moves more consistently.” If you asked me which required more to be good at, I might even pick WoW.
Read the thread title. It’s easily my favorite game of all time the perfect mix of speed and platforming and the level design is second to none so no matter how many times I play it I’ll never get tired of it.
I agree that MMOs are the worst thing to ever come out of gaming. They’re the fucking devil. They destroy lives, friendships, marriages, etc…
I completely disagree with this. I’ve been playing video games non-stop since Sega Master System at 4y/o, and NES at 6. The best times I’ve had playing video games were in MMO’s, World of Warcraft particularly. Street Fighter comes in second. There are thousands, maybe millions, who feel this way. I’ve sworn to never play an MMO again, but they’re incredibly, ridiculously fun and addicting.
I wish I was able to give you guys 25-40 WoW characters and have everyone book 5 hours a day for 5 days a week to show you how competitive it can be. The trouble is, you NEED 5 hours a day for 5 days a week to be competitive. SRK people are when it comes to video games, and there were times where I thought to myself “man, if I had an army of SRK people to work with, we’d crush everything.”
DW is probably the absolute worst franchise ever created. Boring braindead hack n slash with shitty graphics and nothing else going for it? Do not want.
Super metroid was my favorite forever and then metroid fusion came along and then metroid prime2. I loved the slightly more mature tone and especially the play between the light and dark worlds that was brilliant.
That’s pretty lame. In fact, the best thing about DW6 was the high definition opening. All the cutscenes were fit for 4:3 and look like a PS2 title. I haven’t seen such poor quality in a 360 game since Oneechanbara VorteX. It makes it even worse that they’re making a deluxe version for PS2, a year after it’s next-gen release.
I mean, come on, that makes absolutely no sense. It would be like Nintendo making a new Mario game for Gamecube right now.
On topic: No Virtual Console titles are worth paying for, unless you’re satisfied with paying for gimped roms with extremely limited options.
RE: DW series. Sometimes I think I’m it’s only fan.
I had 2-5 on PS2 (until they got stolen… which pissed me off hardcore), so that’s probably why they’re gonna release the deluxe version for PS2. Whatever though, I know the flaws of the series, doesn’t stop me from playin em. I’m a fan and it’s not gonna change. I wont be getting this one though, cause I don’t have a PS2 anymore. To be honest I’d take DW5 over 6 from what I’ve played of it, but when I get a PS3, I’ll build my collection back up again.
FF8’s storyline is bullshit. All of the main heroes, who doesn’t knowed each other, happened to be living in the same kindergarten years ago, and the boss of the game (Edea) was their kindergarten teacher. Seriously, what the fuck?
This makes emo Squall cry.
Doom3 sucks. Next time I’ll just turn off the monitor, if I wanna see darkness.
Wandering kilometers in Morrowind, while nothing happens, was bullshit, even if it was a nice game.
Megaman X8’s levels are sometimes way too short and simple.
King of Fighters '99 is one of the best from the series.
Jazz Jackrabbit 1-2 are underrated.
3D Sonic games are much less good than the 2D ones.
FF9 by itself is better than those ones, 4-9 just destroy them.
Lost Odyssey > 10-whatever the fuck they come up with now.
10 had an annoying main character with a crap-tacular story. X-2 brought in girl power b/s that could’ve been done in a better way, like before the spice girls fell off the face of the earth and NOT MAKING THE MAIN GIRL INTO A WHORE and where the fuck did she become a pop star? I didn’t feel like sticking around to find out. 11 is an MMO… nothing else needed, and 12 was an alright attempt but it didn’t feel like Final Fantasy. It felt like some Enix stuff. Didn’t like the character design or environment. I don’t mind enix games but I don’t like them or play them religiously.
