…Was lame. The only version of it that didn’t suck was the version that knocked off Sailor Moon (which is better). I almost liked the OVA, until all the yuri business.
People who have taste like Berserk.
people who like berserk should check out boti.
Anime with even a little artistic integrity is good, like Spirited Away and Evangelion. Legit stuff.
Everything else I’ve seen is pretty much trash.
Just want to comment on this, the Monster anime was a very faithful adaptation of the manga from what I can tell, sometimes TOO faithful. What is a one page full of tiny panels of flashbacks becomes one long drawn out scene in the anime.
Code Geass was in the toilet by the time you got to see Kallen in the shower, it was like let’s try to make something serious like Gundam Wing but give it Death Note tendencies and randomly thrown in fan service to prevent the viewers from falling asleep, and yeah my main gripe was the art direction as there is literally no diversity as far anatomy goes in that show, everyone is pretty much an anorexic pencil neck with little to no differences amongst each other besides maybe the color of their hair, Clamp has done much better =/
I liked it because I’m a fan of Go Nagai’s work, but yeah I can see where your coming from…
The Soul Eater anime is pretty good imo. Black Star is hands down one of my favorite anime characters ever. The anime breaks from the manga though so Im gonna start reading it so I get the full story. Im hoping they revisit it with an OVA like Funimation did with FMA cause Brotherhood is dope as fuck.
Bleach the manga > Bleach the anime.
Death Note was a great read and a good watch but it’s over-rated as fuck, imo as is most Adult Swim anime.
Buso Renkin was a great manga. Told a really good story in like…13 volumes. I wanna watch the anime but I heard the VA is HORRIBLE.
I’ve actually never seen Samurai Champloo but Hulu has them all so Im gonna watch them there. I need to see and/or read Grappler Baki too because I hear a lot of good things about it.
The Claymore manga is really good buut I stopped reading it and just haven’t picked it back up. Same with D. Gray Man.
Did you watch the rest of that season? I thought season 1 was pretty good… And season 2 could have been if they didn’t rush the story and reduce the animation quality
Claymore was awesome stuff. But I’m kinda the same as you… I remember watching the anime… then switching to the manga after the story branched off. After that, I can’t even remember wwhere I left off in the manga. Couldn’t even remember anything except ??? dying (don’t wanna spoil it for anyone who wants to read it) and seeing Raki as an adult. I really need to to pick it back up, need something else to read while waiting on FMA and Naruto.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t recall ever bearing witness to a television series with so few unlikable characters, so many failed attempts and symbolism, and so many retarded cliches rolled into one.
I’ve seen deeper philosphical themes on Sesame Street.
deeper philosophical themes
[details=Spoiler]Maria: We told you, Big Bird. Mr. Hooper died. He’s dead.
Big Bird: Oh…well, I’ll give [this picture] to him when he comes back.
Everyone: …[/details]
One Piece could do even better if it’s art style didn’t look so horrid…it’s the only real reason I cannot get into the series.
I think this is mostly a cultural barrier, but there’s straight up too much dialogue in anime.
There’s a certain western Samurai show (which I will refrain from naming but you can probably guess) that gets by with barely any dialogue, yet somehow is far more compelling than any anime I watch.
Seriously whatever happened to “show, don’t tell”? I don’t need someone to tell me joe just punched bob if I can clearly fucking see that joe just punched bob.
Man, that’s how it is with the Naruto anime now, they used to do so little of that, and when it started becoming really popular in america all of a sudden, 50% of the episode is explain something that just happened. The other 50% is flashbacks
And it’s for this reason why, when someone asks me what kind of music I like, I say “Good music”.
The love for One Piece haters…
It’s in your heart.
To all the haters who don’t like Gundam Wing, watch this scene.

One of the most manliest scenes in an anime I’ve ever seen.
You are doing it right.
If you want some good underground anime Crying Freeman is always there.
I don’t think I can stomach it but I’ll give it a go, maybe on a good Saturday…
Well if your problem was with Geass art style then yea…Clamp messed up (I agree i found it artistically lacking).
You like Diebuster. You are awesome.

You like Diebuster. You are awesome. DieBuster>>>>>>Eva by MILES.
Yeah that was my main beef, I’m usually forgiving when I watch anime but damn did Code Geass really throw me off…
You have good taste sir, Nona and Lark are GDLK… seriously for a Gainax anime Diebuster is extremely underrated and doesn’t get enough love…
