Speaking of lame ass Qwaser, I’ve got one for this thread:
Sasha is the ONLY good thing about this series; he’s got an awesome character design. Other than that it’s total gutter trash.

Anime has been ass for at least 7 years now, and morons that say Eva sucks but moe is great are the primary reason.
Except Eva does suck.
Fuck it. I agree. What Eva needed was more chibi deformations and kawaii-desu-desu ^___^ and less of that boring shit called ‘storytelling’.
I disagree. What Eva needed was an actual good story. Like say, Cowboy Bebop had.
Xenogears is Eva without the suck, I suggest playing it if you haven’t.
I cream over Yuki.
…Way to compare extremes there. Just because Alpha said Eva is bad you assume that it’s because Eva has a plot and not “kawaii” stuff. Did you ever think someone wants a story that isn’t convoluted, overly religious just for the sake of it and well…good? Believe it or not, that story does exist…it’s called RahXephon.
Eva is bad.
^ I liked RahXephon. I do think Bones improved in later series like FMA and Scrapped Princess, but RahXephon, despite the confusion (WTH is a “Tokyo Jupiter”), had characters I really rooted for.
You know, despite not liking Xenogears, it really is Eva without the suck.
I think I’d pay money to see Shinji fucking martial arts some mechas while he himself was not in one.
Dr. B’s AT field is like a brick wall with bricks of willpower and some cement.
I immediately threw up in my mouth.
Let’s not kid ourselves here.
I love CB as much as the next guy, in fact it is one of my all-time favorite series and will remain as such, but the story’s intricacies and depth were mostly just illusory. The plot progression was meager at best, the character development was non-existent and the crew’s synergy was mediocre. Please tell me who of the four made the best team. Please tell me how much character development and interaction there was in comparison to EVA. Please tell me that the series was not 80% filler to showcase the style of the show. Please tell me that the symbolism in CB was not ‘smash-you-over-the-head-Captain-Caveman-style’ obvious.
Bear in mind, I really dislike EVA.
But saying it lacked storytelling unlike Cowboy Bebop is just…insane.
When it comes to plot, I would gladly take convolution over lazy ambiguity and lack of existence.
I didn’t say Eva was good, I said in an admittedly obtuse way that anime’s problem is the demand of style over substance. What Eva does despite how you feel about it’s success or failure is develop it’s characters and tries to convey ideas with it’s narrative. You can have an intellectual discussion about Eva. What can you say about the deluge of fanservicey bullshit that is clogging the industry’s arteries right now? Well, we can say that it exists, and from there say it has no merit, and thats pretty much it.
Best anime ever is that Japanese take on Peter Pan.
Now see, if you had put it that way I’d have no comment. Though I do honestly believe that this generation of anime does have some gems (Kure-nai, Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight, Azumanga Daioh, and FMA come to mind), there’s nothing wrong with liking the older stuff as well.
Hey man don’t you call my opinions lies.
Seriously though I don’t get why this thread exists. Like Warp said, most of the opinions aren’t unpopular opinions at all.
There is still good stuff being made, yeah, its just unfortunate how little there is. Also, Azumanga is GODLIKE.
the long drawn out moments in DBZ are STUPIDLY underrated/missunderstood
I liked Yuyu hakusho and Flame of Recca!
Here’s a list of anime rated by i guess a huge number of people, It got like Most Overrated Anime and what not, Anime news Network Top 50 Most Popular. Other good anime resources are Anime-Planet Just like a library where you can see anime that are related to yours, It’s really good, pick one anime your like and there’s a ton of related animes, it’s like a never ending cycle of finding anime which are good, however i’ve gotten to the stage where i got “seen it” now:(. Another one is Random Curiosity, this person generally blogs about recent anime and the upcoming anime lineup, and review of anime.
Anime’s that i’ll always love are Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note(Only until the L part, i can’t stand the latter sections), Bleach(I’m suckered by the good guy getting strong, where he starts from humble beginnings), Naruto(i watched this when i was younger, ninjas, ninja school is was just so awesome back then), Trigun(always love the ambiguous guy who’s super powerful, but hides that he’s that powerful), Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X, Chrono Crusade. I can watch practically any sport anime as well, and music ones.
Good Animes of late are Vampire Bund, To Aru No RailGun (It’s actually a sidestory of the main To Aru no Majutsu Index or something like that, the latter is worth watching, this is interesting after watching it, but i fast forward through many of the “filler-type” episodes), Cross Game(If you like sport), Nodame Cantabile Finale(If you like music, though it’s got alot of classical music in it) and whilst i don’t like comedy ones like Azumanga Daioh, FLCL and what not, i guess i really don’t laugh at Japanese Humour half the time, I find Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu hilarious. Oh and i can’t miss out on Dragonball Kai, Yay for Remastered Dragonball Z without filler, just Dragon ball only goodness, i missed alot of the namek saga and what not so seeing this helps me to watch Dragonball Z episodes healthily and not get bored of it each week!
Super Robots > Gundams and other Real robots
It’s roughly exactly the same amount of good stuff as there used to be. There’s just 3-4 times more anime being produced now.
a miserable pile of secrets!
