Prophet.
Even in my dreams, HUB sticks and buttons were wack. Also, I like how no one commented on me being asleep at around 4PM on a weekday. My life is a joke, and everyone’s in on it.
No way. That’s my plan, too.
School, go home, nap for two/three hours, work, go home, homework, sleep for four hours.
Good shit at the HUB. Those sticks need fixin’ though.
The cabinet in the back needs to be our backup. Unfortunately, P2 jab is broken, and damage settings seem wack (turned up too HIGH this time?). Anything else need fixing? If they can get both of them working, then we’ll have a plan B when stuff breaks.
Of course, what I’m really excited about is the club. Saw Brent today, so it looks like things might get started. I’m super crazy busy this quarter, but there’s just so much potential here.
Finally, I’d like to say something, and I hope people don’t take it to mean anything more. I hope that the retards don’t take over the hub. There are two guys who have shown up to play MvC2 that are both not quite there. It’s very awkward.
We’ve got new players, and I am constantly really psyched to see them down there. Heavy D and Jay both beat sakura guy today while I was watching. Hanging out with Chris and Brent makes my day. I have to honestly say that I don’t think I’m getting much better at the game, however, and my recent success at the HUB has more to do with broken controls for my opponents and an overall drop in MvC2 prowess in that location. It’s still fun.
Heavy D has got to be one of the most technical players I’ve seen in a long time. His blocking and rushdown aren’t the best, but geez, once he gets that hit in, he can really keep going. Like, actually connecting 3x AHVB, even on bad sticks.
Runaway Cyclops? Psh, nah, he goes for the infinite!
Flashiness is my Aesthetic.
Cyclops provides that in eye-lasered bundles.
Also, I have alot of practice doing AHVB on shitty sticks! Freaking fs3
Guy came in today to fix the cabinets. He was going to leave without fixing anything, but I got him to come back and fix 1) Left for P1, main cabinet. 2) P2 jab, back cabinet. 3) Coin slot, back cabinet. 4) Damage settings, back cabinet. 5) P1 joystick, back cabinet.
So P2 joystick on the main cabinet is still a little iffy (couldn’t get it to act up while he was watching), but overall big improvements.
Soul Calibur stayed frozen up the whole time, didn’t get a single glance, lol. They could at least turn the damn thing off and save some electricity. What a joke.
They should return the SCII, racing game machines, and that hunting game and use that cash for a fund to get SFIV.
No shit. It’s garbage.
And the only reason they don’t is because they don’t actually own any of the machines, and are just renting them, or letting another company kind of set up in there. I assume.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone play that motorcyle game down there. But I do see some dudes in that car one every now and then.
That 50cents a month has to be really appealing or something.
Your Sentinel must have been air-dashing… with Spiral’s teleport!
Bumping up every thread in existence before anybody wakes up.
I will be at the HUB today for lunch, 12-1PM, or even possibly sooner if the library fails to entertainment sufficiently.
Just be sure to fuck everyone up dann.
Easier done than said. I plan on picking Santhrax and holding one direction (up back) and pressing two buttons (roundhouse and assist 2). Advanced tactics, part 3?
I hate studying for tests 25 minutes before taking them. I always seem to forget something!
HUB was good for learning to run away and do nothing; as it was usually the only option if you wanted to win.
I dunno, random sentinel orbs seem to work comedically well on some of those dudes.
If anyone wants to play STHDR, I’m about 5 miles away from UW (Radford court apts) and am usually down to game. I have 2 tvs, 1 360, and 1 stick… open to buying another stick if enough people want to play consistently.
We need to get a Blazblue machine. I wonder if we could use the club budget to fund it. After all, it still is for the school.
SFIV is probably out of our price range though.
I concur.
I wish I knew what the hell they’re doing moving around all the cabinets and stuff.
6 SFIV machines go!
Haha. Watch it be something totally shitty.
The ladies who run the place are super nice, but it is obvious to me when I talk to them that they have no knowledge or interest in video games. They simply do not care enough to try to fix the problems that place has. They see themselves in a sort of landlord-type role: Allow some other person to put in an arcade machine if they can take a cut. This way there’s no actual work or knowledge necessary - just call some number if stuff doesn’t work.
It’s a good theory - we don’t know what we’re doing, so let an expert handle it, right? But it turns out that they’re not so expert, and there’s no plan B. Nobody knows when the machines break, because they don’t care enough to check. Nobody comes when they call about the machines breaking. When somebody does come a week or two later, they may not actually fix anything.
So now it looks like they’re going to hand it over to a different crew, and see what happens. Maybe it’ll be great. I just don’t see myself playing console games in the HUB, though, if that’s what they’re going to do. Well, maybe Marvel - but fat chance they’ll have a Dreamcast.
We have an awesome bunch of players who are totally cool people. The take-home lesson is that we should be organizing our games and gatherings ourselves.
