University of California, Irvine: Tuesday Night Casuals

We are not going to have casuals unless we finish the tournament earlier than scheduled. However, you still have a chance to enter the tournament if you can make it here by 8pm.

I want to thank everyone – all 37 of you – for making it out and participating in our event this week! We’re still trying to implement Swiss rounds into fighting games, but generally it seems like everyone, from top players to newcomers, really enjoyed the format.

I need to do a better job in recording matches down, though – there were a few typos in the recording of matches that I managed to salvage in time. Sloppiness on my part. ^^;

I’m also thinking about cutting Top 8 instead of Top 4, and instead running a single- or double-elimination finals, since we’ve comfortably ran 5 Swiss rounds with 32+ players in 2 hours – which is over 80 matches!

Thanks again! Come out next week for AE action!

Is there an entrance fee for tuesdays–didn’t see anything just making sure

Hey GalzPanic. Sorry for the late response. There’s no entrance fee for any of the events we host. The only thing you might have to pay for is parking, but there are parking spots available that’s free of charge (see our Map section in the first few posts).

Did you make it out tonight? Next time I’ll go around and introduce to you. =]

Folks,

We have about a dozen players that pre-registered for this week’s tournament on our Facebook event page, with several more that might attend. So it looks like we have plenty of room for sign-ups – so just come on by!

We’ll also have a few stations for MvC3 casuals during the event.

But yeah, we understand that WNF is coming back this week, and some of our regular attendants are going there instead (shorter drive, closer to home, different competition, etc). But, if you can’t make the drive out to LAX, and you need to get your practice in, then at least come out to UCI. Though our format is different (Swiss-style; see first post), we’ve received a lot of praise from those that have attended our sessions. So check us out if you haven’t already and best of luck where ever you go. We’re all here to level up!

yeah I made it just fine. I’ll say sup when show up again

The main posts has been updated for this week’s casuals and tournament, as well as last week’s results. So come on out this week!

Attention folks! This week’s (07/06) Wednesday summer session room has been moved to Emerald Bay DE! It’s still the same building. Don’t get lost!

Are Tuesday casuals still set for this week? Was thinking of stopping by after work.

Hey Lobster Johnson! Yes, we’re still having casuals on Tuesday. I’ll go ahead and updated the second post for more details. =]

I graduated from UCI a couple years ago and i’ve been looking for a group to fight with. Do you think I could join? What games do you guys play?

Anyone can “join”, pretty much just show up on the designated dates and times to play. The big games are SSF4 AE and MvC3, but they also bring BBCS, AH3. If you wanna bring another game feel free to, but you might need to bring your own set up as well.

You’d also want to check out the Facebook group; you can probably find it by searching Fighting Gamers @ UCI.

Decided this was gonna be one of the first threads I’d hit up after not bein on srk for a long span of time.
You da best, FG@UCI! Hope you all love the shirts! Let me know the day to sport it at Evo@

We’re starting up casuals again on Aug 30, 2011. Come by and check us out! More details are listed on our first post.

Sorry for the late update. We’re having our weekly casual sessions tomorrow (Tues). See y’all there!

Hey guys, just wondering if you still do weekly casuals and what not. I just recently moved to Costa Mesa and my girlfriend is a student at UCI. I’m a new SSF4: AE player looking to play with people and get better.

Hey! We are still running our weekly casuals. We are going to have one tomorrow in Pacific Ballroom B in the Student Center. Check the first post for additional details. Look forward to seeing you!

Thanks guys.
