Probably not. Let the game enjoy some time in arcades, so that it can get a decent following and a few patch updates to make the game even better.
Though, I’m hoping that by Q2 2013 (which would be about 6-8 months later), we’ll start hearing about a home version that might coincide with a substantial content update. Ideally, this should also give Ecole and FB plenty of time to consider things like netcode, which is another issue that they’ll have to deal with.
Maybe Sega could hook them up with a version of the netcode VF5:FS is using?
I was hoping they’d dial back the number of hits in this game compared to MB, but after seeing Linne’s EX uppercut do like 15 hits I guess not.
I saw on the gordeau vid the top comment was about how good the hit effects are and I was like lolwut. I think that’s my biggest gripe with this game, none of the hits have umph. all of the blade SFX sound silly and the fist/blunt sounds don’t sound crunchy enough.
also, am I listening to a different soundtrack than everyone else? lol because the only good song that’s I’ve heard is Linne’s. everything else is so… generic.
in other news, I dun really like how animu everyone’s eyes are, but HOLY FUCK ORIE HAS A STAND. instamain.
game looks very pretty and fun. definitely looking forward to checking it out.
BlazBlue creators teasing a new game that has to deal with an “Ancient dwelling woman”.
I’m going to make an argument that it’s an announcement of UNIB for Consoles. It would be a bombshell for Arc Systems to be involved for this versus French Bread. But if you think about it, French Bread doesn’t have the publisher’s arm they once had (with Type-Moon and Sega, for instance) and so would probably have a difficult time shipping this game on consoles on their own, let alone getting the game to work on consoles in the first place.
So i’m willing to bet, that if this story is about UNIB, is that Arc Systems is going to market and push this game’s console release while French Bread focuses on the arcade version. This would also allow marketing for UNIB to take place in the west, a place French Bread would have very little public influence over. Plus, French Bread has been VERY active on their Twitter lately, posting a couple times every day for the past month. Something’s up behind the scenes. It’s almost like they’re dying to announce the game for consoles already formally, they’ve already talked publically about the story mode.
In addition, it makes SENSE for Arc Systems to go after this game. It’s direct competition for BlazBlue, so it makes perfect sense they’d want to acquire this title rather than to compete with it.
As much as I want to hear about a console announcement? It’d be awfully odd to come out with details relating to the console release, when we haven’t even gotten 100% confirmation on the arcade release (beyond the vague September 2012 timeframe, last I checked).
Plus, while I’m sure ASW would like nothing better than to get a possible rival out of the way, some things don’t add up. Everything thus far has showcased that FB and Ecole’s relationship is still healthy, with Ecole publishing UNIB in arcades and then likely consoles later on. Just like they did with Melty up to now. If Ecole is still in the picture, then why would FB need another publisher’s help to make a console release happen (at least in Japan)? Probably not, unless they wanted to get some help with that netcode.
So in any case, I doubt this particular announcement of ASW’s has anything to do with UNIB.
