Got the PCB and the nice USB A to A cable, I work this weekend but I am free Monday.
I am really excited on putting this thing though some tests.

Quick First Impressions and Video:
Ok, not quickā¦ 20+ minutes of unfiltered and unbiased thoughts.
Wow, that was fast! Sadly half the video was you fussing with the PS3 controller! The reason it wasnāt working was because when the controller is looking for a Bluetooth signal from a PS3 (all 4 of the PS3 controller LEDs flashing) it wonāt properly sync up with the converter. If you wait for the LEDs on the PS3 controller to stop flashing it will work every time. Also, you didnāt read the OP which states clearly that it only supports X360 and PS3?!
Anyways. I do appreciate the review. Just wish you would have asked me some questions or done more reading before putting it up on the tubes. I should have given you guys some guidelines about publicity, so I guess thatās my bad.

Just wanted to leave first impressions and show how it functioned. I think the final build with a final write up on use will definitely help. Admittedly, it was a few weeks since I read the OP and I didnāt go back and read it today before playingā¦ too excited. I would argue that by going into it blind I demonstrated what 95% of the population will do when they get itā¦ not read the directions and just start playing. Out of the box it worked perfectlyā¦ minus the few problems I had when I intentionally disconnected the USB and plugged it back in to see what would happen. I could have edited the video, to cut some of it out, but I get more from videos where I see the person overcoming problems and really putting it to the test. Edited videos always seem fake to meā¦ clearly not a Marketing guy and more interested in the facts.
Overall, as I mentioned in the video I was extremely happy with the performance and quality. Definitely a winning idea! I already have people asking when the MK30 is coming out with proper stand offs for this little guy.
As i dig out my XBOX crap I will do a follow up and address some more of the things based on the previous video and thoughts.
Great job!
So whats your guide lines?
I am willing to cocoperate
Iāll e-mail everyone, but basically, donāt post pics/vids/āthis doesnāt work rightā until youāve run it by me. Beta testing, so far as I know, is typically a non-public exercise wherein the developer gets private feedback and opportunity to address any outstanding issues before it is made public. Once itās public, any joker is free to hop on youtube and plug their catās tail into the thing (sorry Jasen, I donāt want to beat on you too bad :D).

Mine has landed today, so Iāll wire it up ASAP and throw everything I have at it. But first, itās RTFM time.
Iām bookmarking this thread because I am curious on whether this can be used on recent cabinets like Vewlix and Namco Noir.
You mean to hook up an USB controller to your cabinet for Player 2? If so, then it should work if you have the correct connector for the cabinet to wire the UD-USB to.
The age of the cabinet is irrelevant. From PacMan to SFIV, almost every cabinet out there has common ground, active low, +5V logic. Thatās what this board uses. I have a Namco Excellena in my den that I intend to do a demo video of once Iāve hooked a board up. Nice for adding an extra player to a cab, or catering to people who prefer their personal controller over the stock arcade panel controls.

You sure can! The Vewlix and Noir cabinets both have a JVS harness and the JAMMA Harness as well as kick harness points where necessary. The only thing you need to do is wire up your harnesses (from the JAMMA loom) to one of UDs converters, tap +5V from the power supply and go. Super simple.
My anticipation for these is through the roof!
UD: I take it that sending these bad boys overseas is not too far-fetched (you sent one to emphatic, who I think lives in sweden) ? I know one guy who wants me to build one UD-USB to MC Cthulhu converter
Thanks for the replies. I was wondering on whether this device could be used to build extra USB controller ports on arcade cabs, for people who prefer to play with their own controllers. A similar idea to the PS2 controller ports on US Tekken 5 cabinets.

Now Iām more excited about this device.
I think that is the idea.
Me and undamned were talking about some applications we think could get alot of people excited
Right now, I think the hottest one is automated toilet paper dispenser. After hooking up a motor controller, reading on the can would be replace by SF practice sessions. DP motion dispenses 3 squares, fireball 1 square, FADC-Ultra gives 4 squares. Toilet time has never been this fun.

And not putting working USB ports on a NES?
LOL, Joking. Undamed PCB for robotics is Awesome
Poor Zangief players. SPD would just shoot the whole roll out all over the place.
When are these likely to be available? Iām running ST at 2 UK majors this year and would love people to be able to use their USB sticks!

Sure, world shipping is fine.

In a couple weeks I should have all my feedback from the beta testers. I will be doing another board revision before building large quantities. Tentatively early March, but between beta testing and full production, I still have about a dozen of these most recent builds to sell off. I already have a list of people that have been hounding me for over a year, so those folks will all get first dibs, based on when they contacted me, so those extra boards should probably already be considered gone.
