It’s stupid to look at events through a vacuum. You ignore everything that led up to now and really don’t get any understand of it.
I am not looking for things in a vacuum. I am looking for facts of the right-now. Is it so hard to find a single legitimate cause? There has to be at least one.
Problem with “earning their way” is that the path has been obstructed for most of history. People a lot smarter than us have acknowledged this and have tried to rectify it. The systems still isn’t perfect and in no way fair to everyone. So laws should be in place to even it out. You wouldn’t tell a runner to run faster when his opponent was given a 50 m head start, would you? Same thinking applies here.
Whatever these video game women have done, I don’t care. But feminism is a very important and very necessary movement.
When you say nearly all feminist exactly which feminist are you referring to. Are you talking about the hundreds of feminist that contribute to the killallmen/male tears hashtags. Are you talking popular feminist sites that are visited by thousands of women daily such as the Mary Sue, Jezebel, salon, vice, buzz feed and feminist tumblrs. Are you talking about feminist protestors who pull fire alarms on conferences talking about men’s issues and sing "cry me a river"over one of the men talking about his son’s suicide. Are you talking about feminist initiatives like manspreading, the masculinityissofragile and yessallwomen hashtags which basically implied almost every man is a potential murderer/rapist. Are you talking about feminist articles that research a female warrior group and get dissapointed when said group isn’t a radical man-haters cult but instead actually see their men as equals.
This is the problem with feminist apologetics they never focus on the actual application of the movement. Moreover exactly what inequality are first world white feminist even fighting for…sexy fictional women,men watching porn and the fact that equal opportunity doesn’t mean equal outcome. If you honestly think women like Clementine Ford, Jessica valentine, Gail dines, wu and the other radical misandrist are oppressed then you’ve just insulted victims of actual oppression.
The facts of the right now is that feminists are pushing for their equal place next to men. You need a reason why they want that? How about it’s just for basic human dignity?

Feminism in America is a fucking joke.
Harassment is harassment, no matter the medium. I do think it’s stupid that this is the women’s issue the U.N. panel decided to hear, but it’s likely they’ve heard dozens of panels dealing with women’s rights and were just doing their due diligence by giving these women time. I would be surprised if anything comes of it because, again, half the world doesn’t even have access to the internet. Meanwhile girls are being kidnapped in poor Eastern European countries and forced to suck dick for a living.
Sigh, fine I will indulge you. One specific issue feminists are fighting for is family leave. The U.S. has the shittiest family leave policy in all of the Western world. Feminists are trying to change that now. This has a number of positive inclinations if it ever gets into federal law, mainly giving men and women time to be with newborns, more flexibility at work to deal with family issues, and the ability to care for family members who need medical attention all without the fear of losing your job.
Razor isn’t going to spin this no matter how hard he tries. There is no interpretation that avoids the fact that 2 first world white girls are upset people disagree with them online and compare text on a screen to actual real world abuse.
I’ll acknowledge that this issue of online harassment is a big deal once we fix the rest of the worlds issues that women face. Those that harass just because will be Assholes and they will always be assholes whether it’s legal or not and that applies for men and women.
I said it in the lounge bit I’ll say it again here. Women want equal rights when it’s convenient.

Over the past couple of months I have realized that none of the news purveyors are really credible. Everyone is in the business of providing news tailored to conform to the views and opinions of the target audience. The best you can do is try to read multiple opposing viewpoints and try to find the truth somewhere in the mess.
Women have systemic issues and problems in a some contemporary societies, but the modern western world is not one of them. There are still sexist people in the west, and there probably always will be, but the situation is no longer a societal problem. Sexists remain, and their acts of sexism need to be stopped. People need to have a place to turn to when they are discriminated upon based on gender. But to frame the problem as a societal issue misses the point. If anything, western society has a problem with overreacting to even a hint or accusation of sexism towards women:

In the context of the public as a whole, this may indeed by the prevailing notion. But in activist circles what you describe as extremism is actually the norm, and the feminists who spoke to the UN are very much deeply embroiled in those feminist activism circles.
Fighting for equal rights between genders is actually the stance treated as the outlier in modern feminist circles. Feminists like Cathy Young and Christina Hoff Sommers have been arguing for equal rights since time immemorial and they are very much marginalized from feminist activist circles. They are the ones who receive real, constant IRL harassment from feminism activists:
