UMvC3 version 2013: The feedback thread

SF4 update confirmed, so when is this game getting its enema?

As much as I hate the near-yearly SF4 updates, the fact that Combofiend is involved, however insignificant it may be, plus the fact that they are reaching out for community input (which could also turn out to be a terrible idea), gives me a little bit of hope.

So long as they don’t listen to the scrubs this time round. Like the ones that made them nerf Sentinel almost to low teir status.

It’s the overly abusive stuff that get around scaling and stuff that need balancing in Marvel, like bloody Swords. Though rather the nerf hammer being used, just improve the weaker side of the cast with better frame data, better priority and stuff. Improve the hitboxes so the likes of Akuma’s shoulder during Demon Flip Palm doesn’t hit above his head.

Here’s the proof. Happens during Max’s Week of UMvC3 random part 4. Ryu is doing a Tatsu above Akuma and common sense would dictate a move such as Palm would hit where Akuma’s hand is. Erm not in Marvel.

This overtly huge hitboxes that surround the limb or beam or fireball etc make bullshit happen that get abused by the top players and makes the casual get really pissed when this happens. Why do hurtboxes surround the player larger than they actually are and why are hitboxes seemingly miles larger than they appear to be.

Well these hit bubbles extend much further than the limbs in general. I still say all the derp etc was put in the game to make online play more playable to the scrub. Who needs precision when hit boxes are huge and we have 3 second hit confirms?

Weird hitboxes are the least of this game’s problems, IMO.

There’s zero reason this game should not be patched when SF4 and SFxT both got/are getting balance updates, and those games have way fewer problems than this game. Capcom has shown a willingness to actually fix shit wrong with their games so there isn’t any excuse, unless you think that this game’s future meta of Vergil/Missiles/Morrigan/Zero TAC infinites is exciting, in which case you’re wrong anyway.

As much as I practice and go for TAC infinites, I would really like to see them taken out of the game. I would also want the hitboxes fixed too, that shit is frustrating. Does anyone else think that it would be cool if swords disappear when you make Vergil block? I think that would be nice because It’s only one bar yet it is pretty damn powerful and its not like it’s easy to get Vergil to block when he has swords up. I think it is close to being as good as ouroboros in some situations which pisses me off because I play strider and I hate getting beat by swords when I spend the 3 meters.

The reason is Ultimate sold badly and was badly recieved by the casual crowd who happen to make up most of the audience for fighting games. Skullgirls has taught us how much money and support is needed for patches to be done.

Idiots like that angry joe guy who made that rant video about ultimate is basically a representation of how the casual players recieved Ultimate.

SF4 is still pretty much the biggest fighting game in the world in terms of sales and support so it will get patches even if other games are more deserving. Despite UMVC3 being the biggest tournament/FGC game right now, its still treated as a poverty game by capcom and the esports world. Notice how all of madcatz marketing is around Japanese SF4 players? Its because Street Fighter has that mainstream appeal. Marvel also wasnt gonna be in IGN’s Pro League.

Street Fighter doesnt have stuff like Noel Brown Bionic Arms.

Remove TACs.Do not Nerf top tier characters, but buff the low tier .Online practice mode with a friend, hitboxes like on Vita.

Honestly, realistically speaking (because what I would ideally want changed is going to be out of the question, like removing X-Factor overall) I would just like to see TAC infinites removed and maybe some MINOR balances changes (nothing excessive) at this point.

But fixes to them would help the game gain some more credibility against the like of Street Fighter 4.

How much more credibility can you get with stuff like X-Factor, TACs, and Zero? The game has enough credibility as it is, honestly.

Some more credibility against the like of STREET FIGHTER 4

Sorry, but I had to laugh

Can we all agree that Vergil has to be toned down in some form or another? Maybe not even direct nerfs; look at how Phoenix transitioned into Ultimate.

I mean SF4 is a much better game mechanically and balance wise than UMvC3 is.

Arguable, unless you think lots of vortexes and “unblockables” are a good thing. And balance-wise you can get away playing a wider variety of characters in UMvC3 than you can in SF4.

SF4 is just cleaner-looking than Marvel 3.

I disagree. I think they’re a top priority fix. When I see characters combo characters with their back, spin around 5 times on a ground string, have moves go unpunished or become extremely hard to punish because the back of the neck or capes have hitbubbles for some reason, something is seriously wrong.

Give more startup frames to all transformation supers. Nothing more irritating than, hey it’s my turn. BEZERKER CHARGE! Okay I get to attack. YOU’RE GOING DOWN!
He’s vulnerable! ALRIGHT!

Perhaps… transformations have to be done from a neutral state? So if you are facing an opponent who powers up, you aren’t forced into the lose-lose situation of eating a blockstun mixup and then having to face MORE POWER right away. Assists could still freeze you of course, but might tone down the derp.

Hitboxes in this game are dumb and stupid, but I just feel like there should be other dumber, stupider things that should be fixed first.

That said, if a patch comes out hopefully everything will be fixed, but that’s assuming a patch actually comes out and that they would actually know what to fix and how to fix them.
