UMvC3 version 2013: The feedback thread

You know what they really need to rework in this game? Assists and anchors. If they want to appeal to as many people as possible, I should be able to make any 3 characters into a viable team. I want a team of Thor/Joe/Nemesis to be just as viable as Vergil/Morrigan/Doom. We’ve discussed assists quite a bit, but I have an idea: Make X-Factor 3 as unique as possible. 1 and 2 are fine, but 3 should be more than “here’s a lot of everything, now go play!”. It should allow you to feel like you are expressing that character to the fullest to compensate for a lack of assists. On that note, here’s what I think XF3 should be for everyone:

-Strange: Just becomes faster. I more or less want to rapid fire spells.
-Ghost Rider: All chain attacks are now on fire, so they do 3 times as many hits, chip, and do more damage (to counteract scaling)
-Hawkeye: Can cancel arrrow attacks into each other
-Iron Fist: Activates all 3 chi effects at once
-Nova: Becomes much faster (So he feels like a human rocket)
-RR: Can burrow cancel all of his grounded moves
-Cap: Gains auto-guard and no longer takes chip damage
-Deadpool: Regains all lost health* (Healing Factor*)
-Doom: Only gains the damage boost
-Dorm: Gains full hyper armor** (Shortened X-Factor to compensate**)
-Hulk: Full hyper armor**
-Iron Man: Infinite air actions
-Magneto: Reflects all projectiles that hit him
-MODOK: Infinite air actions
-Phoenix: Dark Phoenix activation
-Sentinel: Spawns many smaller drones during XF3 (think Orbs)
-She Hulk: Full hyper armor**
-Spider-Man: Speed boost
-Storm: Add lighting effect and additional hitstun to all moves
-Skrull: Copies other character’s XF3 boost
-Taskmaster: Copies other character’s XF3 boost
-Thor: Full hyper armor**
-Wolverine: Healing factor*
-X-23: Healing factor*
-Shuma: Every other hit turns opponents into stone, ala MSH (remember back when he was a viable character?)
-Firebrand: Activates Demon Helper
-Frank: 2x PP gain from all photos
-Nemesis: Full hyper armor**
-Wright: Can no longer pick up bad evidence, does more damage
-Strider: Speed boost
-Vergil: Can cancel specials into specials*** (for style***)
-Akuma: Becomes Shin Akuma, keeps current X-Factor boosts to damage and speed
-Ammy: Continuously regenerates health AND meter
-Arthur: Replaces normal X-Factor with Gold Armor activation (no penalty on deactivation)
-Chris: Damage boost
-Chun: Speed boost
-Viper: Speed boost
-Dante: Can cancel specials into specials***
-Felicia: Gets Kitty Helper for the entirety of XF3
-Haggar: Damage boost
-Hsien-Ko: Activates Gold Armor (There you go Capcom, now can we buff her into a normal character again?)
-Morrigan: Activates Astral Vision
-Ryu: Gains a Raging Demon, Ax Kick, and damage boost
-Spencer: Damage boost
-Trish: Can cancel specials into specials*** (Give her something unique compared to other air-based characters)
-Tron: Small Servbots periodically eject from her mech (think Orbs)
-Joe: Speed boost
-Wesker: Keeps current boosts to damage and speed
-Zero: Activates Sougenmu
-Jill: Activates Mad Beast

Conceptually kind of neat but I’m afraid you just made hawkeye chip out half the cast for free, or do they still not take chip damage? Some of the other ideas are also kind of huh?

Doesn’t Hawkeye already chip out half the cast for free in X-Factor 3? This just puts him on par with AV Morrigan. Some notes:
-Conceptually, THIS is what I want XF3 Strange to feel like
-I tried to give the Darkstalkers’ X-Factors a feel similar to Dark Force
-I thought about just making DT Dante and Vergil’s XF3, but that just seemed lame. The specials into specials thing seems much more stylish
-I’ll admit, I was at a loss on what to give Magneto.
-I think most install supers are better off, balance wise, as XF3 perks. Completely solves the MorriDoom issue in the eyes of scrubs while retaining her zoning potential.
-This is a nerf to most characters, but a buff to a few of the really poor anchors (Nemesis, Tron).

Honestly, if they got no random damage/speed boost per say and just access to more “abilities” I think that would be really rich. It would take mad work though and more suitable to say a MvC4. Aesthetically the XF3 character could go all DBZ ish:

Cinematic lets Get it sequence, then the power up.
Hulk could heal extremely rapidly and do more damage longer he’s alive.
Wolverine could gain hyper armor and heal extremely rapidly.
Deadpool could start talking a lot while gaining super meter and heal extremely rapidly.
Haggar could get final fight esque hit chains and eat chicken and other items thrown on to the screen.
Akuma goes Shin
Chun get naked…
Nemesis gets Chun…

I mean there’s so many possiblities…

That gave me some ideas for characters with LvL3 Xfactor

-Magneto with magnetic field activated until LvL 3 XFactor time runs out
-Wesker with Uroboros(RE5 Final Boss)
-Nemesis’s 3rd Transformation

I actually considered those forms for Wesker and Nemesis, but you do run into the issue of designing those two forms. Not only would they play very similar, but they would break so many system rules that they would either be stupidly broken or pathetically underpowered.

The last couple of pages have been littered with some truly absurd suggestions.

Yeah, I’m aware that this is an open forum where everyone with an opinion is entitled to voice it, but… these opinions just suck.

I gave honest, reasonable opinions on fixing things in this game.

Not all of them, of course. I haven’t seen/don’t remember yours. But I dunno, just reading through plenty of posts in this thread make me glad that they aren’t involved with developing this game.

Absurd suggestions for an absurd game.

In all honestly considering some of the decisions that did get done by the development team some of what Id call my lease favorite ideas here aren’t so bad.

Hur hur durrrr lets make raccoons traps disappear on hit and let chris keep his traps on screen on hit

Chris’ traps do disappear, the difference is that his detonates. That’s how they disappear.

As for explaining Fire Grenades, they detonate as well, but it’s a two part projectile. One is the explosion, the second is the fire.

RR also sets up his traps much more quickly. Boulder and Shrapnel trap are instantaneous compared to Chris’.

Plus RR’s super trap basically cuts off a path of entrance for a lot of the cast (it more or less shuts down Vergil’s regular approach even if he has swords on). Incoming mix ups with it are really nasty too. RR is also a many times faster and mobile than Chris.

i see what you guys are saying but raccoon has low health+low damage and chris has high health and big damage. the difference between these to is a bit unfair

You have no excuse for low damage with proper team construction. Set up TOD behind him via TAC infinite, raw tag TOD, DHC TOC etc. Chris has high health but his mobility is way worse and in this game, mobility is basically the most important thing in the game because blocking only gets you so far.

Raccoon might not be cheap enough to have only 750k health, but it really shouldn’t be any higher than 800 since characters like him usually get pretty retarded once a high level specialist adds their two cents to them.

Raccoon also has that really tiny hurtbox that invalidates certain combos/camping/foot dives… which is admittedly some pretty crazy stuff when you put it together with a campy character with great mobility, for sure.

So RR is great design for all 5 players in the world that will get him to that mythical level of super meh…
