UMvc3 Trish

That’s the thing of it though, she’s pretty straightforward to the point that I can’t imagine any real new Trish tech popping up. Team synergy is one thing and I don’t doubt there are pairing to be explored to really push her further, but as far as solo Trish is concerned I feel like we’ve pretty much cracked that egg open. I would love to be proven wrong though.

Well I’m still working on this set up. But how do instant overhead cross ups sound lol

There’s always new stuff to be found. Im still making dirty shit up with wesker. You just gotta know your character, be creative, and sometimes get lucky.

Instant overhead cross ups? Good luck with that tech cuz it sounds amazing. And hopefully it’s a Trish only thing…biased.

It works…unfortunately wolverine can do the same thing just in a different style…

I just got to play Dj Houshen a long set a couple of hours ago. We went pretty even in wins. But I would just like to know what people think about the Trish vs Skrull matchup. I seemed to have Felicia and Taskmaster pretty easy. But Skrull was giving me problems. Though it would just be that I know nothing of the matchup. Still would like to get some insights on it if anyone has experience with it.

@Ice Any video?
TBH characters that can teleport behind or above Trish while she’s in the air gives me problems (Skrull, Strider, Dante).

So I assume it has something to do with dive kicks, eh? I was thinking it probably involved a set up with a lockdown assist and something to do with jumping L.

As for the Skrull matchup, good luck. I don’t see why it would a bad matchup in particular, but I think his command grabs ad Meteor Smash force you to play cautiously which isn’t really how anyone particularly wants to play her. I’m interested in how you did against Felicia. I think that’s just one mess of a fight. Totally manic. Both of them jumping and flying around the screen around each other until someone finally manages to get the first hit.

I’ve literally never played that match-up(no skrulls in ottawa) but trish seems like one of the few characters who has an answer to random meteor smashes. I mean if she can get a peekabo into the air she doesn’t have to worry anymore does she? The way I see it, in this match-up the peekabo’s become your friend more so than the hopscotches since not only can he just hop right over them, he can command grab right through them, but the peekabos on the other hand, Im pretty sure they should stop his meteor smashes, but Im not sure how they will interact with his command grabs.

Btw, you wouldn’t happen to have any footage of this set? I wouldn’t mind checking it out tbh.

Finally, I’ve been trying to work on some resets with trish(as you all know) and have been doing some research with performing a peekabo during the grounded part of the relaunch combo. It forces an air tech out of the opponent, but Im not really sure where to go from here. Now normally I don’t go around asking other people to do my research for me(unless were talking academics here) but Im kinda stumped for ideas here and was wondering if anyone sees any potential here. Im thinking something along the lines of a sentinel call right before activating the peekabo and then maybe sliding under them while the drones are coming, if I can figure out one reset I should be able to work on a few alternatives to that and make a mini-vortex or something. Only issue I can see arising, is the fact that peekabo doesn’t force a particular air tech and the opponent has 3 different directions they can go in.

If memory serves (it might not, I haven’t been playing much anymore) I don’t think Peekaboo really helps against Skrull. I think Meteor Smash actually lands on top of Trish behind the Peekaboo, negating its effectiveness.

Well could you just sit under it? That was kinda what I was implying, simply setting up the peekabo and sitting right under it as protection before you begin your offense. Plus the meteor smash is relative to screen position, so whether or not it lands on trish or in the trap is actually up to you the trish player. Finally, Im only thinking about one aspect of the match-up and thats if trish is trying to keep skrull out, what happens if trish just decides to get in that ass? I know skrulls st.:h: is a button to be feared, and predictable dive kicks will be command grabbed, but other than that I think our girl can hold her own.

IIRC, meteor smash will just pierce through peekaboo if it Skrull does end up hitting it.
It’s really hard to approach a good Skrull, especially if he’s got assists to back him up, because he’s got great range, command grabs, and great frame traps. Skrulls most likely meteor smash when they see that you’re putting out a trap, then they get a full combo. It’s tough :\

But won’t the meteor smash lose its hitbox if it makes contact with the peekabo? Thats what happens to pretty much everything else. But honestly I know so little of the match-up I really shouldn’t be talking at all, someone should holla at RDK and ask him what he thinks of it. Thankfully, worst case scenario Ill just switch to hawkeye on point and he handles skrull pretty effectively.

He didn’t neccesarily randomly Meteor smash like alot of skrulls would. It was just the character in general. Its kinda like I can’t stay in the air and zone him cause he CAN AND WILL meteor smash me if I decide to start doing traps. But I can’t stay on the ground either simply because of Skrulls crazy ridiculous moves that I had no idea that he had =\

I felt more comfortable rushing him down honestly…As far as Felicia goes I just played really really lame and would usually out Maneuver him if we got into some close combat. Shes really scary in the corner so avoid that…and try not to Overextend Block strings.

@Jak: Due to some complications I may have to put the video on hold. Though I’m considering releasing some random trish clips soonish that I have already.

Well thats disappointing to hear, but take your time bro, its not like the world is ending or anything(knock on wood).

vs Skrull, the gamble of a random meteor smash or a meteor smash in reaction to an assist call will always be in Skrull’s favor. Just that part of the neutral game alone makes it rough for Trish. If you have hidden missiles assist, the fight can be much easier and actually allows for a normal Trish game to be played. For the most part, getting on top of Skrull is a the better way to go.

You can try traps to deter or absorb meteor smash. Peekaboo does absorb the single hit of meter smash, however if he hits Trish first, she’ll still bounce and Skrull still gets the combo. Same with hopscotch cause hopscotch will disappear. A trade can happen with hopscotch though if the trap activates before Trish gets hit. Still a terrible neutral game unless you have a life lead.

Sorry i should really try and post here more often.
Trish vs Skrull
I have alot of experience in this matchup cuz one of my training buddies plays him.
im lazy so im jus gunna list some notes

  • this is a bad matchup, definitely in favor of Super Skrull
  • traps can be punished on reaction for big damage (refrain from doing traps)
  • peekaboo does not stop meteor smash
  • skrull st.H beats Trish dive kick
  • if you put a hopscotch on the floor and he does meteor smash, back dash and do round harvest, hopscotch goes up punishes and round harvest combos. (if you dont backdash you will get bopped, i promise you)
  • your main goal is to stay close to skrull
  • use your assists to get close, but keep in mind he can meteor smash > super and body ur assist
  • predict command throws and punish hard!
  • im not sure how consistent this is but i’ve backdashed and punished meteor smash before he lands with st.H > S > combo you may want to try this
honestly this match is not worth playing in my opinion, just bring out another character and body super scrub.

Ah I see, I felt it alot easier to fight him with Dante or Vergil…So i agree. Not saying its impossible for Trish…Its just really annoying to deal with =\

Have any of you guys been able to do the Trish TA combos?
The down and side exchanges are easy, but I’ve been having problems with the up exchange TAC. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the timing.

Been trying to get used to Flight Plink dashing…Can zoom around alot faster this way. Too bad I play on pad and its so impossible for me to do -.-

Really? I heard it was easier on pad, if you bind :m: n :h: to one button and just rub your fingers between :f: :df: it should work. Least thats what I heard. And yea, I need to get the hang of that as well, in fact I need to add her flight game to my game plan. The only flight character I’ve ever played seriously is sentinel and he operates very differently from trish, but ill see if I can implement some aspects of his gameplay into trish’s.

2 questions:

  1. How do you guys fight Dante with Strider assist? My only success is when I rush him down but even then it’s still tough for me.
  2. What is a good welcome mix-up with Trish?
