UMvc3 Trish

Hi guys I’m brand new to Trish…
My original team was deadpool/task/doom (missiles)
I also have dorm currently as a solid fourth character.
After playing jago at big two, I realized that I had trouble with the Trish match up…
I think that the best way to learn match up is to play the character so
I’m trying her out… Until I realized a
Trish/deadpool/doom team would have a lot of synergy. I could do missile extension combos and probably unblockable set ups also! Would this be a good team?!

Trish forums are one of the few sane UMvC3 forums. Thanks to no one liking her bland but simple gameplay. But it also means most of the people here are pretty tightknot. Which is why I actually enjoy looking here every once in awhile and helping out/seeing if anything new is around to experiment with.

Trish benefits from Doom missiles greatly and I’ve had thoughts of trying Trish/Deadpool as you do get the option of an round harvest unblockable. It can be a pretty effective lame team until you feel the need to go for the unblockable setup. The only thing here is who you feel most comfortable with having as anchor.

Got a question about post hard knockdown, OTG assist into round harvest. Then super jump into what combo before air voltage xx max voltage? I was doing mmh, dj, h, volt xx max volt. Sometimes it seems like the first H will do a divekick even without pressing down though. I think I’ve seen someone else just do S’s in the air? What’s the best string to use?

the boomerang IS the round harvest. therefore she loses that attack and every jH comes out as jdH.

my jill/trish kill combo used round harvest into air max voltage and i swear i don’t even remember what air combo i stuck with as i was less concerned with the specificity of the attacks as i was with the timing. several different work, but i think i just stuck with L,M, dj, L, M, H, L low voltage xx air max voltage. it may have also been L,M, dj, M, M, H, L low voltage xx air max voltage. regardless, it should just take a second to find a good length air combo. you just want something that’ll time the low voltage at a good height with the opponent just as the round harvest is ending.

You will get divekick instead of j. H as long as round harvest is still out. I use j. mm, dj. m, h or dj. m, S depending on how I started the combo. The timing on the double jump m can be tricky so sometimes I just go straight into H or S after the double jump. Have I played you on PSN before? Your tag looks familiar (I’m ac_tesla, I run Trish/Doom/Hawkeye).

As I play Trish, backed by Plasma Beam, I find I’m screwing up my hit confirms somehow, and will hand hits but not be able to flow it into a launch. It may just be a practice-makes-perfect thing, but any tips on this? Like, should I be using more standing L like a combo “glue?” And should I be converting normal jump height air-to-airs into ground combos? I do an unblockables strategy so all I need is a simple ABC launch, they don’t have to be at any specific heights or anything for specific fancy combos. Just need to get to a launch and I’m good. I think maybe I’m a little confused. Are you landing the Plasma Beam assist but then not being able to connect Trish’s normals, or are you connecting a few normals but then dropping? In either case, I would say maybe start off by just trying to hit confirm Pleasma Beam into a standing H>S then followup in the air. It could be hit decay kicking in. When possible I try to avoid using L in combos unless I’m doing tri dash mixups in which case it would be my combo starter. I believe (not 100% sure) that L and cL add alot to hit stun scaling.
Air to air, I like to mentally think of any hit as a peekaboo. Continue the combo with a simple M, H, S, land, M, H, S, followup. Since you’re running an unblockable team you should be able to convert any air to air hit into death. You might even be able to sneak a second jump loop in there but I haven’t played this game in a while now so I’m not sure. Time to the training room.

I’m pretty sure we’ve played on PSN countless times together. That name is very familiar. I run Trish/terrible Viper/mash happy Amaterasu.

You can probably go for jL, jL, jM, jM, djM, jH, Air Low Voltage L, Air Max Voltage. At that point in the combo it might be roughly the same damage as OTG assist+round Trip, S, jS, jS, Air Max Voltage though, which is so much simpler.

Sorry for the double post but SRK hates me more than normal today and refuses to keep me logged in or let me post normally. It’s taken me 45 minutes to post two messages!

If it’s a low health character, better to go for OTG into round harvest, into air max voltage. It costs 2 meters but the damage is anywhere from 850-920 depending on how you started the combo, which kills a lot of characters. The combo is also really easy so low chance of dropping it. The RDK special into TK max voltage only does about 710 and is more difficult but it only costs 1 meter and you have DHC options afterward if you need the extra damage.

It’s more just kind of in general. Sometimes the beam isnt involved, sometimes it’s the main reason. I think it’s because i have a natural propensity to go low, and often the plasma and cM don’t get along. but just in general I find that I’ll land a dive kick, for example, then when I get on the ground, they’re able to block. Hard to explain because there’s little specific info and it varies.

Overall im feeling quite strong w/ Trish, but these times when I get the hit and then suddenly they’re blocking pisses me off. LOL But jMHS, land MHS being my air to air confirm is excellent to know! Maybe the key problem is mostly off landed dive kicks. Like when they’re in the air (either due to landed plasma, or because they jumped) and hit by a dive, should I usually be able to confirm that>

i think that depends on how you feel about getting in and opening people up; if you do a decent enough job of that then i don’t see why changing to rocket punch wouldn’t be awesome, i’d love to get more damage off of my air throws seeings as how i get so many

Are you playing online? That sounds like lag to me. Dive Kick has more plus frames than it probably should, so it’s either lag or you’re timing is too slow. Also you’re +12 on dive kick from when it hits. If you’re hitting the opponent right at the top of their hit box then you have to factor the time it takes Trish to land into account. Still though, sounds like lag.
I don’t use Plasma Beam, but just thinking of it visually I can’t imagine any lows would connect after it except maybe a cH. Try to condition yourself to pressure with M, H, S while calling Doom beam. H and S have such good range you might get lucky with them and get a hit, if not the beam should cover you during recovery, and if it hits you could continue on with another high normal string.

Yeah, I pretty much only play online :confused: But half the time the connection feels smooth <shrug> Definitely destroys my Magneto though lol

Yea thats what I was thinking, I get quite a few air throws but go for set-ups instead of damage since i lack an otg assist and don’t like blowing meter for damage off air throws unless I have to. But on the flip side, having those drones… like they just do so much and they have the potential to do so much more, it just seems like a waste picking any other assist.

Imo, if you would play Rocket Punch for the OTG, why use Sent at all? Seems like there’s very little reason to play Sent if not for drones, and I like Sent. Wesker’s really good with arrows too, if you’re looking for Trish-OTG-arrows. Though I imagine you’re more into the drones anyway.

Yea thats what I was thinking, I love sent, he is prolly my favorite character in marvel and truth be told I would probably play him even if he didn’t have the drones. With that said, he does, and as much as I like to deny it, the drones are the best thing about him. So playing sentinel and picking rocket punch, just doesn’t seem logical. But no, I know in my heart taking out sent and picking wesker will make my team much better, but thats never gonna happen, the day I drop sent for wesker is the day I stop playing marvel.

Besides my scene has enough weskers as it is, they don’t need another.

Really? Cause I think quite the contrary, she is rather under explored. I mean yea she is a simplistic character by design, but I don’t think we have seen a lot of the shenanigans she is capable of. Especially when you consider there are only two “top” trish’s that don’t run trish/wesker, the potential she has with other pairing has barely been explored imo.
