Okay that’s like so random lol
Ok, we should do it soon. I have like all of her attack data already so it shouldn’t be too hard. I’m just too lazy to start now >.<
Someone created a really great, in depth template and posted it in every chacter forum. I think starting a new thread with that template would be a good idea. Most character threads right now are still leftovers from vanilla, which isn’t terrible because there is obviously a lot of useful information floating around. But since there are bound to be things that are out of date, it’s a good idea to start a new one. There seems to be a bit of interest rising in Trish and a new thread devoted to the Ultimate iteration of her would be nothing but beneficial to veteran and new Trish players alike.
And on another note (just for shits and giggles), I read on this site earlier today that Trish/Wesker is 7-3 Trish’s favor. Someone responded that it was 10-0. Lol, I do not see that. People are way overexaggerating that matchup, especially considering how many times you see someone actually use her against Wesker.
That’s cause you’re getting a divekick input
Well it is Heavily in Trish’s favor. I think it’s one of those “In theory, Trish beats wesker 10-0” but in reality it’s a 7-3 kind of thing. If you’re going to use numbers.
On another note, I do hate how when you’re in flight mode, you’ll sometimes air dash down/downback/downforward beyond the air dash height restriction.
I thought that but the dive kick never came out so it confused me.
Edit: This whole time i didn’t know the dive kick was just 2H. I always did 3H.
I believe that it is REALLY bad for Wesker if u play the matchup right. 10-0 is a bit much. I would say it at least 7-3 Trish though. It also depends if its a 1v1 situation or something like that. If they have Strider Assist, The matchup can actually be BAD for Trish. That is just from personal experiences though. I mean, No matter how bad the matchup is for wesker, He can still get a “Wesker Hit” Off some BS and kill her…He only needs to hit her 1 time after all.
Totally agree. The thing is nowadays the majority of Trish players are playing her as a point character with a team built around her, which means her status a “low damage character” has gone out the window. Trish hits Wekser once and its unblockable Round Harvest set ups into a dead Wesker, so it’s a two way street now. Whoever gets the first hit converts to a kill, and it’s easier for Trish to catch Wesker than vice versa.
I really just posted that cuz I thought it was funny. I don’t think there is a single matchup that is 10-0. At worst I think Ammy vs Sentinel/Haggar in Vanilla was close to 9-1, maybe they still are. I like the fact thought that Trish seems to be a pretty hard counter to all the S/A tier characters (exception: Magneto). That fact alone will probably see her getting more gameplay as the game progesses.
I use her on point atm with vergil and dante. I play very aggressive with her with them backing her up (Jam session for corner rushdown and vergil rapid slash for pushing them into the corner.) I really wish the videos I had of me in a recent tourney didn’t vanish, they will really good examples on how she can rush down really well. But meh…salt face
It’s hard to give any match a 9-1 when you have assists as a main factor though.
I wouldn’t say she’s necessarily a hard counter to the top characters. I’d say that she does well against them and actually has options where many characters don’t.
I consider Trish on point to be the best value for her (though I certainly think she’s good in other spots, too). Here’s what I think her match-ups against common point characters look like before you factor in assists:
[]Amaterasu : Trish is favored. The dog struggles against Trish’s keepaway tools and struggles to get past the range/priority of her sword, but Ammy’s faster normals are a problem when she does get in.

[]C. Viper : Trish is favored. Viper also struggles against Trish’s keepaway and sword. Viper has to work to get in, but she has a number of tools and ways to do it, so you have to play carefully while also not getting air thrown.

[]Chris Redfield : Trish is very favored. Chris is like “what are you doing up there, I don’t even.” Her normals are better up close and at a midrange, too, if Chris does make it in and keep her grounded somehow.

[]Dante : Dante is slightly favored. It’s hard to play keepaway against him, but he can play keepaway against you. And your normals have similar range, start-up and priority, so Dante takes it IMO.

[]Deadpool : Deadpool is slightly favored. Deadpool has an easier time zoning Trish than vice-versa and Trish winds up being the one to go in against him. She has the tools to do it, though.

[]Dormammu : Dormammu is favored. You can’t play your ranged game against him, and he has ridiculous anti-air normals to stuff your approaches. If he gets started, it can be tough to get to him. She can make it in if she plays patiently and he whiffs a normal or special.

[]**Dr. Doom : **Pretty even. This is a really weird match-up. Trish doesn’t have good tools to bring Doom out of the air without chasing up after him, and that’s trying to move through aerial photon shots and risking a Foot Dive. Doom has some tools to bring Trish out of the air though (Grounded Photon Shots, Hidden Missiles in some cases, maybe a Butter Gun), but he can’t get much off them. I think Trish is favored up close, but that’s hard for either to achieve if the other doesn’t want them to. I’ve never seen two wildly different characters so ineffective at killing each other. Hopefully someone has the assist they need to move this along.

[]**Felicia : **Felicia is favored. Air Delta Kick goes straight over all of your zoning stuff, Hop Scotches will fly behind her and Felicia is in there, and she’s favored up close. Your best bet is to maybe catch her with a giant normal as she’s coming in, or hope her kick is negated by a Peekaboo, or lock her down for your own mix-up. She doesn’t have a great anti-air for your dive kick, either. This fight is a messy brawl.

[]**Hawkeye : **Pretty even. Trish is forced to play offensively against Hawkeye in this match-up, but she has the tools to do it. His tools negate her long range options but do little to deal with her most common approaches (dive kick, tridash, slide) and normals.

[]**Magneto : **Pretty even. Magneto can’t afford to randomly throw out Shockwaves in the neutral game anymore which hurt Trish a lot. His offense is slightly less scary (since his throw combos aren’t as brutal), and Disrupter is more manageable now. They both can successfully play patiently, or either can play offensively, and one hit from either character should kill the other.

[]**Spencer : **Trish is favored. Her keepaway gives him problems, and his pressure up close isn’t nearly as scary as other characters. Just don’t get randomed out.

[]**Super Skrull : **Trish is favored. You can’t play your ranged game against Skrull, but you can go in on him, and he doesn’t have the normals, specials or movement to keep you out.

[]**Taskmaster : **Trish is slightly favored. He has a harder time approaching her and dealing with her air game then Trish does for approaching him. Their normals go back and forth.

[]**Vergil : **I actually don’t have a lot of experience here yet and haven’t seen the fight on streams, or talked about much. Would definitely appreciate other’s opinions here.

[]**Wesker : **Trish is favored. This match-up has been talked about a lot already. I feel like she’s favored at a range, and has the tools to frustrate him and keep him out. It’s not free by any means though - if you guess wrong at the wrong time, you can lose it easily.

[]**Wolverine : ** Trish is favored. I feel this was a great match-up for her in Vanilla and its only become better in Ultimate. She has no problems keeping him out. But again, don’t guess wrong at the wrong time.

**Zero : ** Trish is slightly favored. Up Lightning Buster Cancels can be problematic for her air game, but I feel that’s still a risk he’s taking. If she’s allowed to play her air game, she can annoy and keep him back, but it’s a long game. Her :h: and j.:h: actually fair pretty well against his ridiculous normals as well, and her dive kick works against Zero. But all of that just puts her at slightly favored.
Now with all that said, factor in assists. Any match-up where your gameplan is to play it safe in the air will be negatively impacted by Jam Session, Hidden Missiles or Vajra assist. You can go from slightly favored to unfavored, even, if that was your whole plan.
Trish having a projectile assist for cover also helps in any match-up where your plan includes going in.
These are all just my opinion from playing her through Vanilla and for a bit in Ultimate, and from watching hours of Jago, RDK, Snakedux and others play her, and from what other players have said about their opinions against Trish.
What I take away from all of this is that while it’s important to have a good keepaway game as the foundation of your Trish, you also need to have a good offense with Trish to help with her tough match-ups situations.
I don’t like the Vergil matchup, I don’t like it one bit. I find it quite difficult to do anything against him, though alot of it is definately just trying to figure it out so I don’t have enough experience against him yet. In the end I do think it’s gona be a bad matchup.
The one on your list KJunk that I feel kind of unsure about is Amaterasu. Her reflector counters can shut down any long range max voltage game pestering and dive kick/jH rushdown. I don’t recommend counter against dive kick since Trish can cancel it and fly away if necessary but it still should be on any Trish players mind. Random Okami Shuffles will blow Trish up when she tries to play her aeriel lame game. Good use of paper and glaive normals can give her trouble getting in. I don’t think it’s incredibly effective, but cold star can also keep Trish out and tag her when she’s in the air. If point Trish is up against point Ammy, the dog seems to always want to get in at the start and it can be hard to get Ammy off of you. I’d favor Amaterasu here, at least 6-4. You’re more knowledgable than I am though, so you have probably have more info on this one.
I’m mostly just offering my opinions and take on it and I could definitely be wrong. No doubt, Ammy has a lot of options.
A few of them I think are more risky or dangerous, though. Random Okami Shuffles do hurt Trish in the air, but those are expensive for what Ammy gets off them at point vs point, which is not a lot. They’re kind of like Magneto Shockwaves in that they’re a pain in the ass, but rarer now in Ultimate. I think Trish may be able to punish a blocked Okami Shuffle too, but I need to test it.
Ammy’s reflectors are really good and underused too, which is something I haven’t had to play against as much. The main Ammy player I practice against mostly uses her disc stance only when she’s up close, and he spends his time with the sword or beads at a distance. So the threat of reflector isn’t there as much.
When I think about it, I’ve had the most success going in against Ammy and making progress using j.:h: and standing :h:, and reflectors would answer that nicely unless I was doing lows off my tridashes. Paper is pretty strong against dive kicks and tridashes too, but that’s where a projectile assist or something like Akuma’s Tatsu really helps to clear that out and let you in.
I am looking forward to seeing an Ammy player who can fluidly use all of her tools in a match-up like this where they all have a place.
I definately am too. The closest we’ve come (IMO) Is Clock. But what we are seeing literally nothing of so far is air weapon switch. I’m convined there has to be real potential there. Capcom hemmed and hawed about keeping it in the game, there’s gota be a reason why. People really jump on the “Zero/Viper are so technical” bandwagons and kind of just ignore that Ammy has three stances with great utility in all of them that basically pack 3 character prototypes into one.
i actually think dorm is one of it not the hardest matchup like you said you can’t zone him his anti air game
plus the obstacle course he can setup on the ground add in just for kicks that he has a teleport what are we left with…
i think doom is a really weird matchup i don’t fear any tools he has aside from his lvl3 but i know if he gets any random hit it’s pretty much over. i feel like if a trish loses to a doom (assists/xf aside) the trish player made a mistake that doom caught if they both play well i just don’t see how doom can grind it out with her. unless he has ways of dealing with upback that i don’t know about.
i know nothing about the felicia fight i may have fought a couple but i wanted to know what if we just run to the corner what can she do? you mention one of the problems is that she skips right on by peekaboo but in the corner she can’t. how is she horizontally in the air? i know delta kick is annoying and all but if you stay above her and round trip, stiletto after and above her delta does she have ways to deal with that?
i’d assume with hidden missiles the match up drastically pulls in her favor.
with taskmaster i kind of agree with you except for the normals, i think tasks normals are way better if i’m wrong please help me understand it i play as both but barely get to fight a trish but i don’t see how she’s compete with his 5b can trish stiletto his s.skills?
for vergil i think if you’re caught on the ground you’re in trouble lol that’s really all i have to say about him
oh and g.rider(with assists) i think would be hard for her haven’t faced one but his ground control with vajra or h.missiles just seems like it would be trouble
i also agree with trish is best on point.
I’m not a fan of the Ghost Rider matchup either, but I’d put in almost the same category as Vergil: I just don’t know what I’m doing yet. Unlike Vergil, however, I think this is going to shake out in Trish’s favor. Correct me if I’m wrong, but peekaboo will strip his normals of their hitbox.
Ugh…Against a “good” vergil it can be REALLY REALLY hard to fight him. U can barely play keep away on him, and rushing him dosen’t really work either. From experience I think its a bad matchup for Trish. That is just my own personal opinion though. As far as the other characters, I think the hardest would have to be Dormammu and taskmaster. My opinion on zero varies…up lighting cancels can be really annoying to deal with.
A friend of mine plays GR and I was playing yesterday and discovered Peekaboo destroys GR’s normals since it takes the hit. He’s forced to either go low or call an assist to help him out (which generally shouldn’t bother you.). I wasn’t liking this match all that much at first but after realizing this, it helps a lot against him constantly throwing crap out at you.
at long as you’re watching your feet for the trip, throw out a trap, and let him know he can’t just throw out normals.
As someone who plays both Trish and Vergil, I think the matchup is 5-5. It can be hard for Vergil to stop Trish from hitting the skies if he doesnt have the right assist and alot of vergils tend to have assists that help with more ground based situations and setups or like playing him as an anchor (myself included). With that said, like Dante, he has teleports. Once he is in, he’s in. And with judgement cut and his own round trip (all preferably in DT), he can take control of the lower area of the screen while mixing trish up on the way down. Helmet breaker is also damn good at exposing bad dive kicks. They both have ways in, but they both have to be very careful of what the other character is capable of. It’s an interesting matchup, but I will admit I have alot more experience with Trish fighting Vergil than vice versa.
As for other matchups, Trish vs Dormammu is almost unwinnable if the Dorm player knows how to properly abuse pillars, flame carpet, meteor showers, spicy meatballs, and random chaotic flames. He also has better ways to get around. Trish is so paper that you start to feel desperate when you’re getting chipped to death by a better version of herself. In this situation I say try to set up a safe tag or something and have someone else fight him. If she’s by herself against him, then it reminds me of trying to comeback in MvC2 with Commando or Psylocke. So many crushed dreams because of that character. I just wanted to talk about how much I hated him for a moment lol. Anyways, Taskmaster is a matchup I know pretty well. I feel like he had the advantage in Vanilla, but in this game IMO it’s 5-5. Whoever has the life lead can make it a nightmare for the other player. I think it comes down to footsies since both characters have pretty godlike normals. Trish has a slight advantage in the midgame, but the damage output is definitely in Task’s favor and one good shield skills, and it curtains for paper Trish. Random dive kicks and obvious square/tri-jumps are a no no in this extremely boring matchup. Ghost Rider forces you to use more of Trish’s offensive tools, but it’s definitely manageable.
I thought so, thanks for the confirm.
I’m also pretty sure Peekaboo will strip Doom’s divekick of its hitbox and turn him into a big diaganol target just begging to be combo’ed.
