Sorry about that I’m not in charge of the site. I’ve been cleaning up everybody’s messes lately. The fee to enter the tournament is $40 or $43 paypal. The food/drinks/pool tables/raffles is whats included with your ticket. So you don’t have to do the other stuff if you don’t want to.
Buffet in my town costs $25 per person and they have crab, lobster, great variety of good sushi (Uni… Yum), Variety of delicious desserts, Hawaiin Poki, smoked salmon, and thinly sliced raw beef with a lemon sauce. Delish!

I understand what you’re saying and why. I prefer the octo gates myself. The problem is our pay out is $1500. People are paying $40 a ticket. You may not be the type of person for excuses or complaints but they’re are other people who look for reasons. If someone feels they lost because they played against someone who’s using a fight pad they have never seen before it brings conflict on our behalf. As a company all we can do is make everything level on our side. If somebody loses because they were caught in a infinite combo that’s not our problem. You just got bodied and both of you are using the same equipment. These things don’t really become a problem when a player only payed $5 or $15. That’s a loss that a lot of people can take. So with that said we MIGHT allow players to bring their own equipment but it needs to be discussed among my associates. I will discuss this with the others and see what they think about this. In the mean time I would like to take a vote from everyone WHO IS attending or planning on attending our event about this subject.

Would you rather bring your on fightsticks fightpads etc… Or would you rather play on brand new hori fightsticks/ps3-ps2 convertors provided by us so everyone is on the same level and no one can have a advantage/disadvantage?
You can meet one of our associates in the Bayarea. If you call on the weekend we will be at a Gamestop. If not, then either at an arcade some of us will be at EVO as we’ll.

First off:
- Please post ALL your tourney info on your FIRST post in this thread. the banner by itself isn’t gonna cut it.
- Please finalize your format of the tourney. People may buy tickets expecting one thing and than you change the format up on them the next day or so. this helps to make sure people can decide of they even want to come
- Telling people to stop “bashing” your thread isn’t really gonna get you anywhere. after all, you can’t blame any of us for asking you for more and more information about your tourney. we just gotta know if we feel your tourney sounds legit to us or not.
- I also agree with what Spirit juice, choi, and a bunch of people have been saying. please give us ALL the information.
My questions:
- How will the brackets be created?
- How will players be assigned to where they are put on the bracket?
- lets say only 5-10 people show up. is the 1500 still a for sure thing?
- once again, why can’t people just pay you at the door? you could easily have them put down there name and you can check them off and take their cash in hand no problem?
- how many people will be helping you run this tourney? brackets, calling matches, etc…
- What are the exact rules of the tourney?
This is all just info, questions off the top of my head for now but I know you have answered a few of these questions all ready. please answer all of these again for us. And above all else. Add ALL the information and details of your tourney to the FIRST POST of this thread. and one final thing. please please please set IN STONE all the info on tourney format, money, use your own stick or not, blah blah blah…

These folks are new to the game and good friends of mine so go easy on them. There may be some novice mistakes but no schemes going on here for all you cynical, hollow criticism folks on this thread. Maybe if you asked intelligent questions and educated yourself instead of wasting your time posting snarky cynical remarks you would not have been ripped off. Here’s a thought: Give some constructive criticism and ask questions I’m sure it will be appreciated if you do so. I am the organizer of the battleground tournament; I would like to apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that happened in my absence. I assigned Vyegotem to post a thread to this site since he is already familiar with the site. I enjoy the energy I pick up from this community and laughed at some of the comments made. This is an active community that I wish for us (Battleground Group Tournaments) to have a long lasting relationship with. I created a profile to provide accurate and detailed information on the event set forth to take place on July 14, 2012 and hopefully more to come. Please read the following below for your information.
Tournament Rules:
Registration:

[]Entry into the tournament after the registration period expires is generally not allowed, but may be accepted at the discretion of the Director.

Break down of Tournament:
· Welcoming and Introductions.
· Tournament will last from 12:00pm to 6:00pm pacific standard time.
· First matches begin around 12:05pm.
· Intermission for raffles.
· Tournament ends at 6:00pm and Cash prizes will be handed out to winner and runner ups.
Bracket Seeding:
Players will be seeded based on when they register. If there are multiple people registering from the same area they will be seeded in a different group to limit the chances of playing someone from your area.

[]When both players are at the game console, they must come to an agreement which side of the machine they will play on (who will sit on 1p and who will sit on 2p)

[]Reporting Rule Violations: At some point during the tournament, a player may violate either the tournament rules or the rules for a particular game in a tournament. For example, a player may switch his character selection after he won the previous game (a tournament rule violation) or he may choose Akuma in Street Fighter II Super Turbo or do the Gambit Glitch in Marvel vs Capcom 2 (a tournament game violation). The following rules apply toward rectifying rule violations.

[]It is the responsibly of the players in the Match to detect all Match Rule violations and report them to a Judge immediately.
[]ALL non-gameplay rule violations must be reported to a Judge before the Game starts (e.g. the winner switching the characters after winning one Game in a Match).
[]Players are not allowed to stop a Game in progress to address a non-gameplay related rule violation. Stopping a Game in progress to report a non-gameplay rule violation will result in the forfeiture the round on the part of the person stopping the game.
[]The only time a player is allowed to stop a Game to report a rule violation is when that violation occurs during the middle of the match (e.g. The Gambit Glitch in Marvel vs. Capcom 2).
[]Stopping a Game in progress to erroneously report a rule violation (e.g. your opponent using the Juggernaut glitch in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which is allowed) automatically results in the forfeiture of the round by the player who stopped the game.
[]Rule violations must be reported at the time they occur. Otherwise, they will be ignored.
[]A Judge is allowed to report any rule violations on behalf of a player.
[]If a Judge stops a game to miss-report a rule violation, the Game is replayed with both players picking the same characters, order, and side. No one is disqualified.
[]The only people allowed to stop a Game to report a violation are the Judge and the players. Anyone else (e.g. a spectator) stopping a Game (for any reason) will receive a mandatory Red Card (see Rule Enforcement and Disqualification).
[]If a player accidently or intentially stops his game for any other reason, he will be forced to forfeit the round. Examples include accidently pressing the start button on his controller to pause the match, unplugging his or his opponent’s joystick, etc. If the game cannot be restarted from the exact point of interruption, the player is forced to forfeit the Game.
[]Match interruptions beyond the players control (e.g. the game crashes or freezes) will be dealt with directly by the Judge. All best attempts will be made to resume the round from where it left off. If that cannot be accomplished, the Game will be replayed with both players picking the same characters and modes.
[]Example: Suppose a player loses a Game during his Match. During the middle of the next Game, he notices that his opponent changed characters (a rule violation, since his opponent won the previous Game). Since the player did not notify a Judge immediately after the violation occurred, the player must live with the situation. If he stops the Game now, he will be forced to forfeit the Game.
[]Example: During your MvC2 match, your opponent uses the Ruby Heart glitch to freeze time for 15 seconds. Near the end of your match (2 minutes later) you see that you’re losing and stop the match to report the violation. Since you didn’t report the violation immediately, it is ignored, and since you’ve stopped the match, you are now forced to forfeit. Be careful.
[]**Example: **A player is up 1 round to 0 against his opponent when he accidently kicks the power-strip, turning the console off. Since this is an unauthorized stoppage of play, the player is forced to forfeit the Round. Since the game cannot continue from the point where it left off, the player is forced to forfeit the entire game.

[]**Reporting Equipment Failure: **Video game hardware has a tendency to break down during tournaments. Buttons or joysticks will occasionally break down in the middle of a match, leaving the player on the broken side at a significant disadvantage. The following rules will be used in the event of a breakdown.

[]In the event of an equipment failure, they player has the option to stop the Game in progress to obtain an replacement.
[]If a Game is stopped in progress, the reporting player must forfeit the current round.
[]New equipment must be immediately available. If replacement equipment cannot be obtained in a timely manner, the player must continue to play on their current equipment or forfeit the Match.
[]Once replacement equipment is obtained, the player is given the rest of the round to configure their buttons and test the new equipment. If the player gains an undue advantage by doing so (e.g. charging an abundance of super meter), they must forfeit the Game.
[*]A player may opt to switch out equipment between Games at no penalty. When this occurs, the player will be given ample time to configure his buttons before the next Game begins.

Grounds for Disqualification:
· Violence is unacceptable! Any participant, who causes physical harm to another participant, staff or proceeds to damage equipment or the venue, will be disqualified and removed from the premises. The local authorities may be called. (Zero Tolerance)
· Excessive Misconduct (e.g. theft, causing a disruption which delays the tournament, racial slurs or excessive trash talking, etc.)
Additional Rules:
· Any tournament players that are not present when their match is called for pool or semifinal matches, without giving staff a valid reason for not being present, will have a period of two (2) minutes to report, to their station with the required equipment. After the two minute period has expired, you will be forced to forfeit your Match. This is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy.
· There will be no ties in any tournament. Anyone refusing to play any Match (including the finals) will be disqualified and forfeit all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament.
· Inevitable Defeat rule is in effect. This is defined as when a player has legally won the round or match (i.e. landed a move that will kill the opponent) but pauses the game before the game awards the round won icon, will still be awarded the win. The most common occurrence of this rule is when Player 1 lands a super on Player 2, but the super animation is a grab and the damage isn’t awarded till the final hit connects, but the opponent has legally lost the round. If there is a dispute over whether the move would have knocked out the other player, a tournament official will un-pause the match, see the result of the action, and proceed from there. If the attack does not kill the opponent, then the mid game pause rules are in effect.
Indemnification:
All tournament participants shall protect, defend, indemnify and hold harmless Battleground Tournaments, its affiliated corporations, and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives and employees from and against any and all costs and expenses, damages, claims, suits, actions, liabilities, losses and judgments including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and legal expenses, based on, arising out of or in any way related or connected with the Event or any other matter or activity directly or indirectly related to the Event, including but not limited to libel, slander, disparagement, defamation, copyright infringement, invasion of privacy, piracy, plagiarism, or infringement of any patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property right of any third party. This obligation shall continue beyond the term of the Event.
Prizes:
Our Prizes were sponsored by a small startup company that was interested in what we were trying to do, they donated $1,675.00 for this tournament and the monies will be split like this:
· Tournament Winner - $1,500
· 1st Runner up - $100
· 2nd Runner up - $75
We wanted to offer a huge Grand Prize so we decided to veer off the usual 60, 30, 10 split which are commonly used for pot systems.
Raffles:
There will be two free raffles and a raffle that cost one dollar to enter. Raffle prizes will be announced at the tournament.
Pool Tables:
Three FREE pool tables will be provided for your entertainment so you have an option to watch the matches or play a couple of games as you wait for your turn.
Buffet:
Wristbands will be provided for the tournament; that wrist band also gives you access to the all you can eat buffet.
Ticket Pricing:
Tickets are $40.00; here is a breakdown on the cost of that ticket:
· Venue fee - $20.00
· Rental Equipment - $10.00
· Ticket for entry - $10.00
Clarification:
· Fight sticks are allowed. You are welcome to bring your own.
· Challonge bracket system will be used.
· Traditional pot system will not be used because money was sponsored.
· Prizes for Tournament winner, 1st and 2nd runner up will be cash.

A: This form serves several purposes for the battleground tournament group. We would like to look at the age, gender, geographic locations of all interested parties so we may use this data to help the next event be bigger and better. Q: Tickets say no refund, What if I lose or forget my ticket?
A: If your ticket is lost or stolen, you may still participate in the tournament. Just bring a valid picture ID with the information listed above excluding phone number and email. You may be ask for your phone number and email for verification.
Q: I don’t have a car, how can I reach the event?
A: Directions depending on your address will be sent to you via phone/email so you will know how to reach the event.
Q: Who is Battleground Tournament Group?
A: Battleground Tournament Group (BTG) are a small staff of people dedicated to bringing gamers together so they may have a rich experience with gaming in different places around the bay area. BTG is affiliated with Uniting Everyone Development Company who focuses on products & services that bring people together.
Q: If I win the tournament when will I receive my money?
A: The Grand Prize Winner will be paid in Cash, Valid ID will be required.
Q: Why was the Shoryuken representative so confused/ misinformed?
A: Because he is hard headed I guess? Sorry for any confusion guys & gals but if you ever get the chance to meet him, he is actually pretty cool.
Q: Your tickets look fabricated, why were they misprinted?
A: The Company we contracted for the production made an error. I was informed about the error but reprinting the tickets would take too long. So we’ll roll with the funny commentary you guys come up with about it.
Q: What’s with the flyers? (They look sketchy).
A: Vyegotem made it, who knew he would suck at it LoL! All jokes aside we might ask for an artist help next time, so if you can draw/Photoshop send some of your pieces that we can post up on our site when it’s ready and maybe yours might be picked!
Q: Will you be doing any FREE tournaments?

tenchi.akuma i can respect that you’re an upcoming (hopefully, major/ongoing) TO…however, the lack of available information, and the poor presentation for the event that was made available to us via your representative on the start of this thread has left an odd taste in my mouth. this tournament sounds something godly on paper, but the initial interaction with vyegotem turned me off this time around. maybe on your second tournament i’ll consider, assuming all is a success. i wish you the best of luck, and hopefully things kick off good for you guys.
