Thank you for providing some much needed clarity and organization in this thread. Some pertinent information should still be provided.
Saying the tournament will end at 6pm is simply not reasonable. The fact that this is mentioned is alarming, as tournaments almost never state an end time, which raises the question; what are you prepared to do if/when 6pm rolls around and you still have several matches to run? This is a very real possibility, so answer carefully.
Thank you for copying/pasting evo rules. In the future “evo standard rules will be used” will do, as that is the standard for just about all fg tournaments.
What is the “small startup company” providing this money? What is their interest in the FG tournament scene? Provide as many details as possible, company name and company field being minimum.
What is your tournament cap and how close are you to reaching that? Saying tickets are running low and posting a 256 man bracket leaves a lot to the imagination. Actual # of current registrants, and maximum tournament capacity would be useful information.
Being as transparent as possible would go a long way.
I have to agree with Gamegeezer. From what your saying now in comparsion to the first post seems to be a completely different tournament. It went from single elm to double. A 3 day wait period to cash up front. Not using your own sticks to using them. And alot of other unanswered questions tharimrattler listed
I think I saw you guys at evo and there was no crab in the immediate area, so is this foretelling of the event bc I was gunna get the japanese players to come but the no crab made them leave the country early
I seen these organization at Hill Top Plaza at Gamestop. They are legit. I’m in purchasing my ticket. They guys where also at EVO (nice display set up). They let people have free play and let people who choose to, have money matches at there display.
this looks like it had potential to be good except it was presented in all the wrong ways. i really want to go b/c there havent been too many events lately in my area, but at the same time, the whole “buy tickets in advance for $40” and then “you’ll get the prize a few days after” is very deterring
There is TNT on thursdays and gamecenter Friday bi-weekly tournaments Wed at starbase Fri at Ramnation/FGTV and saturday at Southtown. There’s lots of tournaments.
I’ve read the whole thread and if I were to say anything, transparency is key. Seems like every time a TO dodges a question or calls someone out with a legitimate question about the tourney, the tournament usually ends up being shady. Tell us a bit more about the company and their incentive as tharimrattler said; I think it’ll help ease people’s minds if they’re on the fence.
I regret to inform you that due to a venue discrepancy The UMVC3 tournament will be postponed to September. I will be working with owner of the venue today to finalize a day in September in which we can host our event. Please check back frequently for updates.
For those of you who purchased tickets, your ticket is still valid and you can use the same one to enter the tournament set forth to come sometime in September. Also please contact us and provide your ticket number & confirmation number so you may be accommodated for this unforeseen issue.
I want to take the time to announce that we are hosting a FREEtournament for CASH PRIZES scheduled for the end of this month. We had originally wanted to do this as a thank you for those who supported our tournament. We are taking registration and currently there is no cap for those who can enter. We are looking at three possible venues to host the free tournament, all of which are in the East Bay. We will update with location and time shortly. Those who bought tickets have first preference for registration.
For those of you in the community who are a little weary/have concerns of the original post that Vyegotem did, I would encourage coming out to the free tournament and check us out. Feel free to observe or participate, which is more fun! Feed back after the event is done would be much appreciated!!

Make sure you plan this event out thoroughly; even if it’s free, unfortunately y’all have a lot to prove. Protip: Having crab at aforementioned event would go a long way towards improving your relationship with the fgc. #realtalk
So… what you are saying is no refunds? You had to cancel a tournament that participants had to pre-register for and you may possibly have something coming up soon? Seems like you are ripping people off.

I was thinking the same thing but didn’t wanna be “snarky” and call it out. I wanna give this guy the benefit of doubt because I think he can make this crab thing happen, something NO other tourney has. Even yours. (HINT)
Without the possibility of crab though… I dunno. I would say the whole thing sounds fishy.
I did purchase a ticket this Monday. I was disappointing when canceled. They call me immediately today to say to me Im already registered for free tournament if I want. I thinks that’s great . Real good idea. And they tell me my ticket is automatically registered for this September event plus accommodations. I tell these guys that most people would not contact customer directly but they took time to reach out. Good business ethic. I had real bad experience before take my money and go. Seeing for myself these guys operate twice, at gamestop and evo, Im confident in the event.
Damn so you’re cool if they hold on to your $40 until TBA? I see.
PS: I’m running a tourney next month, $800 pot bonus guaranteed, only $25 to enter. Gonna hold it at red lobster so you KNOW imma have dat crab. I’m sure respected members like jinxmitchell, nin-jay, tyram and honzogonzo can vouch for me. GET AT ME ASAP and I’ll waive you the $5 venue fee. Omg half price!

So what all of us expected was true or looks to be so.
Reminds me of a time I went to a local tournament where the flier said top 3 payout. I got third and they didnt pay me because I beat their friend. HAHA.
Also, I expect a serious reply. Because only popping up when they have “tournaments” is not cool. Participating in a few events isn’t enough to save face.
