Thanks for answering my question about the venue fee. I appreciate it. What of the venue space though? You left that question unanswered. It’d be nice if we can find out how much space is rented out for the time allotted.
We’ll I’m not sure if you have been there but its very large and if you go check it out the whole left side of the room where the pool tables and chairs are is ours to use from 11:30-5:00 (Might be 12:00). Sorry I didn’t write or review the contract I’ve just been organizing and marketing.
Input lag is across all games, but it is often overlooked in non-fighters due to then being played primarily on lag performs by default (online, moms hdtv) versus fighters which came from non lag platforms (offline arcade, crt.)
Due to this you can probably get away with using the biggest shiniest monitor at your halo tournament, but at marvel tournament people will demand functionality.
The last thing I’m stuck wondering about this tournament is why can the winner not be paid same day? And why not cash? If the pot is guaranteed, this should more be a problem. Who is providing this check?
I just had a thick discussion about this. We won’t be doing cash or check. We won’t be doing check because some people don’t have experience handling checks and think it might bounce. We wont be doing cash because we don’t feel comfortable carrying that around or hiding it from everybody. We also don’t feel comfortable giving a individual $1500 cash which can wind up catastrophic. So we will be doing a money order from safeway or walmart etc… You will get the money order ($1500) the same day. We like to say 2 to 3 days in case some BS happens. I.e the bank locked our account. somebody left the money at home. Somebody stole the money and we have to provide a new sum. None of the above will likely happen but life does that sometimes. Like how our brand new gas generator started leaking violently at the juneteenth festival yesterday in Berkeley.

I think all tournies should adopt such a disclaimer, -just in case-.
Especially EVO, since the payout is so big. “Payout may not happen if aliens steal the $ and/or use ray gun to turn all $ in world into delicious crab”

I’ve read this thread several times because it so funny. I am a new TO myself and I have had several learning curves, but one thing I have always done is look towards my silent srk mentors and posted appropriately. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt and encourage our local players to show up but I need to see one more time posted, a confirmation of $1500 paid out on the day of event, cash! Money orders are ridiculous, you will be collecting cash on the day of event, but you’re not scared of that? Your payout logic is invalid, do yourself a favor and confirm the guaranteed payout and I will encourage and facilitate attendance.
Thanks for your support. We will not be collecting cash the same day that’s why the flyer say’s call now tickets are limited. I will talk with the others about giving out the prize in cash and will post by the end of today.
This thread does not pass the standard SRK rules for a proper tourney thread. The first post should contain CLEAR information about venue, date/time, rules, hardware platform, structure, payout, etc. Subsequent replies should address questions and concerns from potential attendees. As there have been many scam attempts in the past, the portion about tournament fee and payout structure needs to be especially clear.
A picture of a flyer with vague information in the initial post does not satisfy these requirements. The sticky thread status is revoked until clear rules and details are posted. Please be sure to finalize and clarify the prize money situation as you mention.

What if a person decides to play on a MAS stick. Are you prepared to track one down? Do you have any american sticks to provide?
Or people who prefer octo gates or circle gates? LS-32s or 58s.
That’s why people bring their own sticks because it’s custom to them and their preference.
As for hidden mods? What mods are there? Turbo? because that comes stock with every retail stick. Macros? That’s built into the game.
Unless someone has an audrino in their stick to program a ps3 to trick it into doing whatever, I highly doubt it.
Your website is confusing. It says there is no entry fee to play in the tournament, but raffle tickets are $40? So if I just want to play in the tournament and don’t want to entered in any raffles or eat at the buffet, etc, then I pay nothing?
Also, you said Hori sticks will be provided to play on, which ones, exactly? Hopefully, not those old ones with non-Sanwa/Seimitsu parts…
Yeah, even despite the continued lack of crustaceans, I was about to applaud your efforts in listening and turning things around but… this is a deal breaker. Is it a venue thing? I can’t imagine a TO seriously asking players to run on sticks that use converters. I promise I won’t stuff my TE with crab and sneak it in.

Just to let you know, in a game like marvel, (or for that matter any game & any tourney on US soil), this format is unheard of and will discourage even the best of players from entering. Even more so than the stick issue, this is a problem that needs to be fixed if you want this to happen.
PPS: Do you have an entry cap/threshold? If only 3 people enter can we just split the pot and splurge on Dungeness all day? Seriously dude, just scrap this date and try again with a real tourney format (LISTEN TO ALL OUR SUGGESTIONS, not just the easy ones). Until then you’ll just be that “suspect crab-a-lacking TO”, and that $1500 will be burning a hypothetical hole in your pocket.
