this has to be a joke that flyer is way too damn funny

Heard they were at Southtown yesterday[SAT] to promote the tourney.

Thank you I really appreciate your input we are new at doing this and wasn’t aware of how many stipulations there are. If there is anything else you feel we should know about please respond thanks.

Its because we don’t want a million calls from kids or kids parents. We do 16&up with a parents permission.

Really? They’ll need to step it up cuz I didn’t hear about it. Was it on stream or something? Maybe I was too busy giving up my energy for the spooby bombs.

Yes sir, we were also at game center in San mateo and Juneteenth in Berkeley yesterday. Game center is a really nice place you guys should go there if you haven’t been. We we’re on display at Gamestop Saturday with some fightsticks in Berkeley. This coming weekend I believe we will be at golfland in Milpitas and another random Gamestop in the Eastbay.

We we’rent there very long. We came around 8pm and was only there for an hour or so. I was actually going to compete in the umvc tourny but I was unaware it would last until 2am.

I’ve been on here before as IMSOVICIOUS in the feilong forums.

Here’s a quick question you guys. We are thinking of switching to VH Monitors since Iv’e heard great things on lag tolerance. The problem is I’m not finding any more then 27 inches screens. We have brand new 40" lcds although I’m not sure I want to use those. What do you guys suggest?

Yeah, It did last very long. At the very least, it’s a good thing you’re getting out there to local events (hopefully more to learn than promote).

While I don’t think things will work out for you this time around (mainly because of what’s been discussed already, but also due to its timing/pricing), as long as you learn from your mistakes, keep up the conversations with the locals & continue to wise up on how to properly T.O., you’ll have the_foundation_ for setting up a well supported event. Good luck.

PS: In order to kinda smooth things out, I found some video of a pertinent match between 2 top players you can use to promote your next event. I believe it also provides a good name for your tournament series.

Facepalm

Protip: Big tvs = lag, period.

Do some research on T.O.ing/tournaments in general first. There are articles/threads about this. That’s it from me.

thanks

Then please answer my question about why the venue fee is so high? Looking at Pepe’s website, I see that their pizza buffet is normally $6.99. Is the rest of the $33.01 for renting the place out? I have my sneaking suspicions that the venue is not charging that much to rent the place out. Speaking of which, is the whole place rented out or is it a certain amount of space?

Let’s say the venue is only charging $7 for the buffet and $3 for the renting of space per person. That leaves $30 unaccounted for. Where is this money going? Organizer’s pockets? Toward the $1500 first place prize? I’ll tell you this now, BE TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE WHEN ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS. I have a feeling (if this is a legit tournament and you’re not going to take the money and run) that the rest of this money is going toward the $1500 prize, WHICH IS NOT A GOOD IDEA BY ANY MEANS. Should you fail to meet the numbers you desired and do not have the money to provide the $1500 prize, thus creating a delay in giving out the prize via check within the next few days (which is shady in of itself), you will have very, very angry people to deal with and will most likely black listed as a tournament organizer. This HAS happened before and has even happened at MAJOR, SPONSORED TOURNAMENTS. You’re better off canceling the tournament until you can legitly provide the intended cash prize.

Don’t be THAT guy. Tell us the breakdown of the $40 entry/venue fee. Where is all that money going? Generally, people will not have a problem with TOs pocketing a little bit of the entry fee so long as the reasoning is sound (lots of time invested into organizing the event, gas money, etc.), it’s not too much, and you’re honest about it from the start.

If you cannot tell us the bolded text above, I’m writing this tournament off as extremely shady and will encourage people to not attend until more information is given.

Thanks for your input and the link. The fee is high due to the grand prize of $1500. We figured more people would appreciate a higher pot since gamestop tourneys give always give away a game you already have and arcade tourneys arent always as high. We’re not wealthy by any means we all work 9-5. I used to work at sony as a tester and my job now is only a small step up. The rest of the fee will be paying for hori stick’s, ps3 converters, ps2 controllers, (we already bought tvs which i guess we’ll be selling for monitors) 1st runner prize $100, 2nd runner prize $75 (So if you’re in the top 3 you will win your money back), raffle prizes, malicious things: new hdmi cables, extra marvel games, an extra ps3, surge protectors etc… after this tourney there will be free ones similar to gamestop. (as we have made relationships with different venues since we started marketing). I agree to whoever said we should have thrown some small tourneys at first and researched some more but i guess we got to excited from the responses form people when we told them the possibility of a $1500 prize. Even the gamestop managers were excited but we learn from our mistakes. I can promise you our future tourneys from now on will not be expensive (and will be seafood catered i guess) because now we will have all the equipment. We just needed some help paying for everything thats all. We do plan to do this monthly or every other month so are equipment will be put to use. Our website is under construction OurBattleGround.com so we will look more legit soon and we’re learning photoshop so out flyers dont look xeroxed with wolverines picture tapped on lol. Our next tourney which will be ssf4 mk9 or sfxt wont cost much for anybody. and after the fighters we will do the shooters cod,bf3, halo, gears etc… Is there tv lag in shooting game?? any way I hope i"ve this helped a liitle if you have more questions just ask thanks

dude, if i’m paying 40 dollars, I want some fucking crab or lobster at least
