or our tvs mainly because we haven’t figured out the seating arrangements yet and if we go at a different angle the owner may not want to move them. Our tv’s are still in the boxes and we will definitely be using the hd projector in the back
What kind of food is there? 40$ is a lot for buffet…
PS: I hope there’s crab.

yes $40 is a lot for JUST a buffet
So if the grand prize of $1500 is guaranteed, why is the payment 2 or 3 days later? And by cashier’s check which could possibly be counterfeit? This is sketchy as fuck. If this is a legit tournament, this is not the way to run one.
Oh yea, there’s pool too my bad.
Is there crab?

I don’t believe there will be crab.
No crab, no buy.
Has anyone bought tickets this? Qoute me if you did
We will be at gamestop tomorrow on shattuck in Berkeley. We also be at june tenth Sunday.
I’m not trying to rain on any parades here, but this seems shady even after the explanations. I hope everyone is careful with their money.
wut.
UGGHH no crab. Why don’t these events ever have crab. Sorry dude, maybe next time try to plan stuff out better before posting about a $40 buffet with no crab. Fools is going to Vegas in 2 weeks & you gonna waltz in here with NO CRAB? I was hella pumped to actually eat at a major tourney too… puts $ away ( v_v)p

What day is this tournament supposed to take place? Why is the venue fee so high?
As a long time community member and tournament organizer, I will tell you this: transparency and ease of access of information are key. Every single tournament needs to have clear, transparent rules/information of start times, tournament format, what games will be played, rules of each game, pay out, entry fee and possible venue fee, and consoles and monitors used. That’s pretty basic information that needs to be readily available to your target audience. All information should be in the first post of the thread, rather than scattered about in the thread itself.
I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here and assuming you are someone that may just enjoy fighting games, have money to throw around, and want to host a great tournament. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of work and know-how to run and organize a tournament. Throwing money into a prize pool and telling everyone to come to your tournament is not how you promote or run a tournament. Unfortunately, this makes you look shady because people have taken advantage of the fighting game community before. If you’re brand new at this, it’s better to start small and work your way up, rather than throw a big tournament right out of the gate. With smaller tournaments you have chances to learn how to run them and redeem yourself if they go sour. If a larger tournament busts, people usually blacklist that organizer.
The check payout for the $1500 is very suspect. Why can it not be cash?
Call me cynical, but with lack of details and no sign of previous reach out into the local scene [southtown, ramnation, starbase, gamecenter, MGL], this is hella sketch.
not to mention that his account was made very recently.
All cynicism aside (welcome to the fgc), If you’re_really_ trying to make an event that everybody (and not just the organizer) can enjoy, listen to jinx & spirit juice.
Take a look at other tourney threads (aka do your research), perhaps GO to one yourself & talk to ppl there (if you did, you’d see why these rules are, for lack of a better word, UNACCEPTABLE), and most importantly, don’t act like a Nigerian Prince: the fgc is NOT you or your venue’s cash cow.
Though I_highly_ doubt that you’re legit (I mean cmon no f’ing crab…SKETCH), It wouldn’t be right to turn against you due to your ignorance. That’s to be saved for in-game trash talk.
@ jinx/sj: You guys are too kind. Shout outs to yall, it’s hard out there for a TO.
(PS: If you are serious about this, I was just kidding about the crab. Lobster is what we all really want).
