I almost feel like people should consider lists for anchors depending on whether they’re “loaded” or not. To elaborate, I’d consider the following categories:
[]Have both X-Factor and abundant meter
[]Has X-Factor, but little/no meter
[]Has no X-Factor, but abundant meter
[]Has neither X-Factor or abundant meter
Players will end up with characters in all of these situations, and I feel like a little thought could be given to that, especially considering that some team compositions bank more resources on their point/secondary characters, and there is the possibility of just having a bad turnout anyway. This leaves me to wonder who has the most potential for “miracle” comebacks, so to speak. My (likely flawed) list of such consists of the following:
[]Akuma
[]Dante
[]Dormammu
[]Doctor Doom
[]Magneto
[]Morrigan
[]Spencer
[]Strider Hiryu (yes really)
[]Taskmaster
[]Trish
Perhaps I’m avoiding the point of the topic, but I thought it was fair food for thought.
I really dislike doctor doom and trish on anchor. I don’t see those characters performing any miracles.
I didn’t see you make any disticions in your own list.

Tron in Xf3 with tons of meter is a happy birthday machine.

I think there is a difference a between top character in the anchor position and a top anchor. Sentinel and doom are top characters in the anchor slot, but they aren’t very reliable for actually doing their job as an anchor. The most notable example is phoenix. She is god awful in the anchor slot because she subtracts so much from your team, but she is amazing at doing her job as an anchor. Storm is also very good at making comebacks if she’s your anchor, but she provides nothing to make her good in the anchor position.

I don’t think anyone is confused about this, at least i am not, that is why sentinel is not on my list.

You could have a point, but i don’t think any smart player would risk to call an assist when you have tons of meter and x-factor, also almost 80% of the cast can fight tron without assists.

This literally translates to whoever is better in the 2 is better with meter/xfactor…those who are better in the 1 slot are better meterless without xfactor.

Actually not completely, you need to be prepared for all the scenarios, sometimes you would need to use x-factor early- or use a level 3 to kill a thread, that is why sometimes in a match you would change your order, it is better to be with a Magneto without XF and no bars, than with a Vergil without that, Vergil is almost useless without those things.

Your anchor doesn’t have to create miracles to be an anchor as long as the first 2 characters are powerful enough. Filipino Champ and RayRay have shown that as long as the anchor has a top tier assist it’s viable enough. As long as the anchor provides top tier support and can kill 2 characters without too jumping over the moon it’s not that bad.
Oh lord I hate to fight Arthus with a lvl 3 + Xfactor. GG, pick any 4 projectiles and its 80% chip. I know he’s not all that, but the thing is I play mostly online cause I have no choice…Try avoiding that shi- with lag, trust you can’t lol. Also Lvl3 Dark Strider is the Male version of Dark phoenix. Also I really don’t think Vergil is all that Vs being a good Strider anchor.

Also Doom is a solo character, having both keep away tools and the so godlike footdive;

Vergil Stops strider lvl 3 Ouroboros with lvl 1 Spiral Swords, long normals, and killing without bar, even with xf3 strider does low damage compared to others, although he Is top 3 on anchor spot, but Vergil destroys him.
Doom is not a solo character. Have you tried playing doom without assists? It’s fucking horrendous.

Your example still supports what i say because vergil is a 2ND slot charecter since he is better with meter. Magneto is a meter builder and best in the 1st slot. All this still supports what i said. And what does match scenario has to do with what I stated. I’m saying a charecter who is generally a better 1st slot charcter is most likely to make a comeback without xfactor then a character who is a better 2nd slot charecter who is more likely to make the comeback with resources.

I should have explained myself, my thoughts were that making a list of the possible scenarios is good, and you are right, but if you are playing Dante/Vergil an Horizontal Beam/Projectile helps greatly to both characters, so in that team mags would be better on anchor, meaning that even if he is better on point, his role to the team is better on anchor, that is my point, sometimes characters like Mags or Doom need to be on anchor because the support they bring to the team.
I’m suprised at the lack of skrulls. Seriously, people dont understand his welcome mixups. he has a 50/50 (a 100/0 on character with no air dashes/double jumps) and his crossunder H is amazing, his dhalsim limbs can also be very gimmicky. When he is in a neutral game though his derp factor is just so good. meteor smash crossups, stone dunk shenanigans, and especially the grab are all why Skrull is 1-2 on my list. With that being said…
1- Phoenix
2- Skrull
3- Strider
4- Vergil
5- Wesker
Obviously with lvl3 xf and 5 meters any character can mount a comeback though.

100/0 ? have never played skrull(or against someone very good with him) but it would be broken if it is 100/0 , also i really like him as an anchor, that Meteor move(don’t know his name) into super is bullshit great damage, i am gonna to practice how to deal with him, he is not as Vergil or as Strider IMO, but is better than the rest of the cast(except phoenix, dormammu and… think thats it.
Online you can’t beat it unless you play hulk or some other billshit.
Offline you can at least react, just avoid corners or else, INFERNO!!!

An important factor for me when deciding to put Felicia on anchor is the Kitty.
Offensively we all know about the ‘unblockables’. But defensively this thing is amazing. The fact you can make pretty much every single XF3 opponent rushing you down respect you by getting it jumping around you is amazing. It means if I don’t have XF for felicia (and say use it on XF2 dorm)… she’s still got the ability to hold her own in that final fight.
