Is he better than the above mentioned anchors? No. Is he still a better anchor than most? Absolutely. Skrull is just as unsafe if not more so than Sentinel. One whiffed meteor smash and he’s gonna have to burn xfactor to stay safe. Sentinel adds much more to a team with his assist and dhcs than someone like skrull who has synergy problems.

We talk unsafe more: Vergil is unsafe as well where his only chance is with meter and helm breaker while we all know he’s damn well free on welcome mixup.

He does have shit health for his size though.

He’s risky. But he’s still a solid top anchor. The worst of the top due to his obvious weaknesses, but still has the tools to survive and run it back.

I think as the game gets older though Vergil and Sentinel will move to being more on slot 2 than anchor. But right now i still feel he’s a top anchor.

Well sure, he’s a decent anchor. But why is he on your top 6 list while characters like Wesker, Hawkeye, Viper, Ammy, Dante, etc who are all superior anchors aren’t?

He’s definitely not one of the top 6 best anchors in the game.

You can’t legitimately compare one of Skrull’s most un-safe moves to a character who is generally un-safe all around. Skrull players will usually do a meter smash before burning x-factor then immediately x-factor and go for a command throw, apply pressure, etc.

Vergil is garbage on incoming, we all know that. But him with meter+x-factor=scariest shit in the entire game. Spiral swords is essentially a “you have to wait until the super is finished” type thing. Vergil even has his own bloody self-assist (round trip). He can ToD without even using meter during x-factor as well.

Anyways, I can agree that Sentinel is a decent anchor; but not even close to the top 6 in the game. He’s way to slow and predictable.

And yeah, it is Kurt Cobain. Nice eye dude ;). I’m a huge Nirvana fan (I have Nirvana t-shirts, albums, belts, accessories, etc). I go ape shit for this band, wish Kurt was still alive though; but that’s a thing of the past. The music still stays with me, even while I type this I’m listening to “Lounge Act” while wearing a blue and white shirt with Kurt on it wearing some baws shades. Nirvana gets me so hype.

Top tier anchors? People that can escape incoming mixups and go ham by themselves. Must work good with X-factor as well. Shit, sounds like I’m making a craiglist post.

I’ll be honest I named off those ones top of my head. I see Wesker Sentinel and Vergil as Anchors, but only in the “They can do it, but should really be somewhere else on a team” (Wesker is a point man and will be one late game. Vergil and Sent are going to 2 hole).

That said. I feel Sentinel is a top Anchor. But he is no way top 6. noooo no way. He’s a top anchor, but he’s the worst of the top anchors. Their “Gatekeeper” if you will.

Vergil is terrifying as you say. the fact that with meter he can hold you in block stun for an eternity is just frustrating, and then one touch from his myraid of mixups which you cant evade by getting yourself cornered, a you’re a goner.

If your Arthur os really bad and all he does is spam golden lances and hope it chips the opponent to death, then you’re right.

A good Arthur is a very respectable Anchor and not gimmicky at all…
If most of your Anchor Arthur wins come from chipping, you’re doing it wrong.

A top 10 anchors would be more concise. You could do 5 OTT and then 5 strong but not OP.

Vergil belongs in super conditional. He’s deadly in any position but needs meter, X Factor, and you not having either to truly. scare people. Without meter or X Factor he’s unsafe as Hell and ‘shit’ characters like Tron and lei-lei don’t give two shits about him with their bulky, multi-hitting normals and specials.

lolno. How the hell is arthur going to open you up? sj.Sxxprojectile? No one with half a mind falls for something like that. Arthur has no extremely limited rushdown options and from full screen has barely any way (ESPECIALLY AS ANCHOR) to reach you.
Hell, Half the cast can STILL lame him down/rush him down in xfactor and gold armor.

I simply chose to name everyone I think is a competent anchor. the top anchors I listed are 14. a top 14 anchors with honorable mentions isnt so bad.

Vergil will eventually fade as an Anchor IMO. but regardless he can still do so. A meterless X factor less vergil is still a more dangerous character than many other characters and much better off then, say Dante. Despite his tendancy to be unsafe with certain things like whiffed normals theres really no excuse to be whiffing something like H

Thoughs on Felicia as an anchor? i think she is great because of self-unblockables IMO she is top 10, i am thinking of learning her because i need a good low assist.

Vergil,Strider,Phoenix are the only ones in order, the worst is maybe Hawkeye, i use him and he is great no doubt, but it can be easily countered with an x-factor so his chip is worthless, also if you take into acount when you are trying to do a comeback a lot of the times the enemy still has x-factor, and a smart opponent will not burn it before you use your own, but he has Gimlet one of the top 5 one bar hypers in the game IMO.

Dante can chip with thunderbolt when on Devil Trigger and in X-factor, because when you are on your last character usually you have 2 or 3 bars, also he is fast as hell ,and you have flyso it is good to waste the opponent’s x-factor, and he has no bad matchups, also he can ‘‘counter’’ some other anchors, like wasting time of spiral swords by flying or doing vortex who leaves you at a frame advantage, he is good.

Vergil is basically press buttons and win, so no need to explain why he is godlike in x-factor, the only problem would be if you have no meter and no x-factor, then you are basically screwed, because without those tools a lot of characters become a problem for him, but usually you will have meter or x-factor, or in the best case both, so no problem.

Skrull is insane, he is just falling from the sky, doing grabs and a lot of stuff , you can only hope to block when he is on x-factor lvl 3.

Amaterasu has the semi x-factor counter special, with that speed decrease of the opponent and the speed increase of your x-factor you are like 4 times faster than your opponent(well maybe less but it looks something like that) also has a full screen almost every time safe hyper.

Wesker is like vergil, but with less range normals, without the best one bar hyper in the game and… thats it.

Stryder is FAST, his damage is still low even in lvl 3 XF, but who cares when you are almost untouchable and can mixup your opponent all day without almost any fear.

Phoenix is still very great, ven in his normal form she has great teleports, good normals and her 1 bar hyper is good, she is the glass cannon of the game.

Dormammu can chip and also is not bad at rushdown, if your opponent has no x-factor you basically win if you have meter and your x-factor available(unless he has 3 full health characters, but even then he has potential).

And at last Felicia, OMG i she is fast and has self-unblockables, and can cross the screen quickly with a super ultra delta flying kick, has an easy infinite and a commang grab, she is a better wesker IMO.

Ammy and Phoenix are my go-to anchors of choice (I usually use D Phoenix + XFC2+ Coldstar assist though=Good luck blocking). My friend plays Felicia and she IS deadly, especially in XF3. If her range was ANY better she’d be better than Wesker, I think.

I personally think Felicia is a better anchor than Wesker…she just requires a bit more work. Safe dhc plus that same super sets up unblockable, nearly pushblock proof setups into damage. Also has a better level 3 and is generally harder to get her off you once she gets in than Wesker.

Felicia’s solo mixup is most definitely better than Wesker’s. I’m not quite convinced she is better than him though. They are neck and neck for me. He edges her out as far as: a better range game, teleports and damage. I’ll have to get back with you on who is better.

But i am referring to their anchor capabilities, felicia has an infinite when on x-factor so damage is not important, also felicia’s Delta Kick crosses the screen so quickly in x-factor that makes the range negligible, and is more easy to run from wesker than of felicia.

You can’t throw out Delta Kicks all the time though. Ammy/Task/Wesker… who else… have counters that can wreck Felicia’s game. I’m just not yet convinced she is BETTER that Wesker at any point in the game. She’s definitely on par with him. Both she and Wesker have great throw options that lead to nice damage.

Wesker on point is better than felicia, because he can use beams a lot better than her because of his teleports, but when talking about anchor spot , she is better solo than him, because he has a pseudo-assist, and even if Delta Kick can be punished, in x-factor lvl 3 the opponent must know when you are going to use it, if not it is very difficult to punish because of her speed increase, in a corner her helper is so annoying that sometimes even jumping will be difficult and you will be caught into an almost-unblockable( or in the best case a true unblockable),although wesker has a full-screen hyper, they are both great, there is no doubt about it, but wesker on point, and felicia on anchor, also her low assist is better than the wesker one, but wesker has a low and an otg at the same time, so sometimes is accord to your team, vergil is better with wesker, and dante is better with felicia.
