Argh! I actually left out a bit of what I meant to say! Lol.
Still, in response to what you’ve said, though you can hit Wesker out of it, his speed boost in XF3, and the shades buff, significantly reduces the risk in just throwing it out. And Wesker’s gun starts up in two frames, so he could shoot Dormammu out of anything he would try, and that’s without the X factor boosts.
Generally, I feel that unlike those I called the best anchors (with the exception of Strider), Felicia, Dorm, Skrull etc. are completely reliant on meter and XF to be good anchors. Without x factor, I feel that the best anchors goes back to the tier list. So Dark Phoenix, Wesker and Vergil, and to a slightly lower extent Akuma, have the edge over the others (I should have added Zero and Level 4/5 Frank to my list lol)
Skrull and Strider are crazy in X factor, Skrull’s damage and combo possibilities go through the roof and I don’t think I need to talk about X factor Strider. No doubt they work well as anchors.
I personally think Frank is a good anchor, not on par with others but he’s still very solid. Course, like everything about Frank, it all comes down to how well he’s levelled up.
And don’t get me started on how good an anchor Arthur is. King’s armour and X factor is any rushdown character’s worst nightmare.
Arthur anchor is great if your opponent burned Xfactor early. otherwise you just pop XF in response and wait for King’s Armor to put Arthur in hard knockdown.
i love the character as an anchor, but he really needs your first two teammates to demand extra resources to kill. if your opponent still has XF, Arthur doesn’t do a whole lot.
So basically you’re saying that when Wesker tries to crouch attack your PJFs, you can easily stop up-backing to block all the lows, then react to his 1-frame command grab and jump out of it if he decides to not do a low? sounds like you have some pretty amazing reactions
so i guess his ability to follow you down to the ground with an H-S blockstring, then make you guess low or command grab doesn’t count as a “keep you grounded” option? have you ever even played a competent Wesker?
Wait, Haggar can teleport, shoot a gun, self relaunch off an air throw without activating XF or using assists, and get 4 levels of XF speed? Because that’s the only way i can make sense of what you just said.
(edit: and yes, i know in XF3 haggar has just enough speed to get a solo cr.H OTG into f.H against certain characters. but it’s very situational and requires an un-used ground bounce to get just 1 relaunch)
no pissing contest needed. whenever i see people start writing like this i just move on. it’s the “I just started college and my parents told me I’m always right” pseudo-intellectual nonsense that just goes nowhere.
Ahh, is that what your problem is? I was trying to figure out why anyone would make a post full of underhanded smart ass comments without provocation. For future reference though, don’t do such a thing if you intend to garner a serious response from anyone.
It is my belief that Strider Hiryu is the best anchor in the entire game.
[]Godlike assist.
[]You can’t run away from him. If you try to fly, you will get Vajra’d. If you try to upback, you will get jump kicked.
[]He can use Excalibur to get out of incoming mixups. It’s not a guaranteed escape like Hard Drive or anything, but it’s better than what Vergil has.
[]Some of the best incoming mixups in the game.
[]He has self left-rights.
[]He has extremely derpy oki mixups which no one seems to block.
[]He can combo off of all of his throws.
[]Can either rush down or run away depending on the situation.

He can use Ouroboros to keep the opponent away and run out the timer or the opponent’s X-Factor.
Once he runs out of X-Factor, it is an uphill battle but the opponent should definitely be dead before X-Factor runs out.
Everyone knows Strider anchor is pretty good, Vajra is overrated though, if I ever hear that assist call and its not covered by an airtight string, i’m popping my cherry and shooting 2 Sphere Flames up his butt. Severely cripples many teams that run Vajra because they often run it as their only neutral assist.
He definitely has great defensive options when incoming though, double jumps and excalibur all day.
His left rights are whatever though, any decent player can tell when a Strider is fishing for a teleport opportunity and you can scoop him and TOD him for free if you get any sort of combo off a throw. His oki is pretty good but I feel thats largely due to matchup inexperience for most people. His damage is just awful outside of XF, and not particularly impressive in XF3 either, standard corner bomb relaunch combos net you 800k in XF3 ( of course extendable but I don’t see many striders going that extra mile, possibly due to execution or just lack of knowledge I suppose )
Also he kind of restricts your meter management since his most appealing gimmick is XF3 orbs, you become a bit more prone to save your meter if you think you might need to fall back on that.
those are the tops I like for this game. I don’t think anyone else has unique specific advantages like these characters have. vergil with meter can’t be beat. Strider with meter is the next best thing if he can get orbs. DP is right behind those guys because those are the only 2 characters that beat her face in. Amaterasu is right behind DP. xf3+slow is just fucking ridiculous not to mention that dog is really TOD in that mode off ground\air throws too. One of the best things about dog is that if you get down to her as anchor but you have all 3 characters left, she can do xf3+slow and damn near wreck your 2 other characters. She basically forces your XF hand @ some point because xf3+slow leads to so many hits and the only way to negate slow is to be in xf2\3, preferably 3.
other characters like mag\wesker can’t activate BS modes on top of XF so they’re not as good as those characters IMO. They’re still really good, just not on the same level.
Jill xf3+level 3 super is fucking ridiculous. That shit is fucking god like broke haha. I don’t know that much about jill since she’s DLC but I’ve seen my friend mash out some patterns while like that and it looks fucking impossible to deal with.
also, x23 is in a unique position IMO for this game. I think specific builds allow x23 XF to be better than normal. Say you’re playing some type of dante\x23\xxx or dante\xxx\x23. If dante lands any hit on point, he can always combo into grapple hook, unblockable with x23 with hammer to prevent tags and just build up a shit ton of bar. Once you kill that character, tag in x23, call jam session, dirt nap, XF. This is one of the few death loops in the game, really mvc2-ish. You’re pretty much dead with very little hope to get out for 99% of the cast, well 2 characters are dead for free. You can even change the loop up. dante starts and lands a hit, unblockable into x23 for bar and take them to the corner for the kill. Acid rain mixup on character 2 and if this hits, this is game over for sure. Acid rain will transition into grapple hook, into x23 unblockable for meter. Eventually character 2 is dead, tag x23 for UB on character 3. for 2 hits, you can kill a whole team. Very unique team specific death pattern that not that many characters have in this game. As good as zero is in this game, he has to land 3 separate hits to kill a whole team, x23 teams with the right build only have to land 2 separate hits.
Ammy should be on the list because that slow super of hers can tame the strong anchors. I think Strider is still top as an anchor. XF with out orbs alone is just an anchor strider, XF+Orbs = Anti-anchor, he runs over any anchor with it. Strider has allot of XF loops that do great damage (can kill full life thors) too.
Why does everyone say Felicia is so good on anchor? Can anyone explain this? I play Felicia on point because her Xf3 is so damn hard to control in combos.
She’s like what would happen if pushblocking did nothing once Dark Wesker got to you. If she gets near you you are going to get air thrown or command grabbed very soon and there’s pretty much near nothing you can really do about it. She’s also the only anchor that for one meter spend basically gets her own assist that can’t be pushblocked either. She’s the hardest to pushblock anchor in the game meaning that once she gets in she can tear the whole team down easily.
The one issue with a lot of anchors in this game is that chicken blocking and push blocking is a solid way to take advantage of how they don’t have an assist that normally takes care of those things. Which is why having a durpy XF anchor is strong…but overrated. Felicia bypasses this for the most part making her very scary when you can’t use the usual anti durp anchor tactics against her. She loses a bit to zoning but she’s so fast that she can very easily get past it and kill everybody any way.
Oh and my brother always played the hardest to execute character in every game so he has no problem controlling her. She could have an XF5 or 6 and he’d still control her just fine.
I also use Hawkeye as an anchor GIMLET is so ridiculous good, also he kills strider at fill screen gimlet>xf3> gimlet, because strider is almost always going to use ouroborous and start to mash buttons, imo is one of the few things that can stop strider…
Dante’s devil trigger thunderbolt is so ridiculous powerful in x-factor is not even funny(for the opponent of course).
The best anchors:
.Vergil
.Strider
.Ammy
Afther them it is felicia who has only a few flaws, then dormammu, maybe phoenix, akuma, hawkeye, dante, and like a couple more, the rest are just good , bad, terrible, or tron (lol).
