Final Starbase Arcade Tournament this Sunday (8/11/13)!
Starbase Arcade will be closing it’s doors at the end of the month for good. One final tournament streamed by IPlayWinner will happen on Sunday. UMVC3, AE 2012, KOFXIII & VF5 will be the games played.
We’ve promoted this to all the players in Northern California, many of whom attended Starbase frequently. Hope you all will tune in!
Well, DHC glitches and other stuff made people able to be bad at the game and win anyway.
Hasn’t changed all that much over the 2 game’s lifespan.
That is also one reason why I’m quitting going to marvel 3 tourneys after Summer Jam… EVERYONE that plays this game at
a competitive level in ANY way is a lunatic at some point while playing. Some just have more loony moments than others, or flat-out
play nutty by definiton.
I can’t deal with that shit anymore. Guilty Gear is the future.
Wasn’t mag blast not as good in Vanilla due to Magneto’s airdash being faster? I thought a lot of the mag blast combos didn’t work in Vanilla due to Magneto’s airdash being a lot faster.
I mean no one did mag blast combos in Vanilla when you could just ROM or hyper grav 7 times and kill your opponent to death/start the DHC glitch.
TOs have been explaining to everyone, they already have hotel discounts but it’s still expensive to book a place in a hotel. People thinking that these TOs can get corporate rates and free ballrooms don’t seem to understand that the FGC isn’t Citibank; the hotels isn’t as eager to do business with a bunch of bums as some seem to think they do.
Some TOs get completely free ballrooms (based on a sliding scale dependent upon number of rooms sold). Some get them if they purchase a specified amount of food/drink/catering services. Many TOs probably aren’t frugal enough or care enough to bargain for the cheapest possible price. Not necessarily a bad thing, but IMO it’s better to shoot for the lowest common denominator (within reason) than have the fanciest ballroom because even the poorer players are still part of the FGC and slightly cheaper prices can turn a stream monster into an active participant.
marlinpie used magnetic blast all the time in mvc3, he even said that it was probably the best move in the game due to the copious amount of blockstun, rayray, chrisis, champ, kbeast used it as well, but the main reason it wasn’t abused as much was with l. disruptor being so fast it was easier, and often times more beneficial, to use that instead. also character development takes time, regardless of the players skill, e.g., othawk
magneto is basically like silver age superman in terms of “makes up bullshit powers all the time” except instead of the explanation of “superman” it’s “magnets ya’ll”
