Being able to beat/avoid the durability of Morriganās soul fists doesnāt mean the match-up is against her. The execution level of the current Morrigan players are not up to par yet. Every stray hit she is able to land on you should be able to lead into the opponentās death. Too many lack of conversions at the moment stop that from happening.
Most neutral games which end up with Morrigan losing (assuming she doesnāt lose in the first few seconds) go like this: Morrigan runs away and starts her fireball game, opponent gets hit by a fireball or two, Morrigan uses her advantage to set up AV, opponent attempts to stall AV, opponent gets hit by missiles in the process. Somewhere along the line, Morrigan gets a hit, manages to convert into her BnB, only to leave the opponent alive and set up AV again. Eventually, Morrigan player makes a mistake, gets hit and dies. Neutral games shouldnāt last that long. Once you get the hit, opponent should be dead. Doesnāt matter what resources you have to spend (except XF).
My main team is actually Thor/Dr Strange/Amaterasu which is much stronger in neutral game than Thor/Missiles (Thormammu missiles is kind of like my flowchart team). But since it requires more execution and Xian (or anyone i played in the tournament) didnt counterpick my team with Mag/Beam or top 6 point+ top beam support i thought it was ok to continue playing with Missiles. Was about to change to Strange though
Fine then, the Chris Iāve been playing against every week for the past year is clearly not enough for me to conclude that Morrigan beats Chris. Fire grenades are irrelevant at close range when Morrigan can dash away from them, even after throwing two soul fist out in the air. Chris with Jam and Vajra obviously makes Morrigan be more careful, but since Chris is not AS fast as other characters and CANNOT teleport, I can either dash forward, unfly, and in some situations even just crouch to avoid Vajra. Jam Session, well, is Jam Session, the assist is overall great but without a teleporter or fast character (with the exception of Hawkeye) I donāt think Iād be worried about Chris with JS. Maybe I have to play GCYoshi or something to find the true power of Chris, since I donāt see eye to eye with the other Morrigan players:P
@Oerba What team does the chris player you play against use? I only think the Chris matchup is that tough if he has jam session.
Can you link me to the morrigan combos that kill off every hit? Morrigan can only truly tod off of clean hits on 900k and below characters and thats with fully optimised combos + dhc. Most of morrigans conversions wont lead to death because they will nearly always have a Shell kick, st.H or j.L thrown into them which heavily scale hitstun and damage. Outside of TACās or spiral swords dhc, morrigan cant really tod off every hit.
Of course this isnt really a problem as morrigan is the king of chip and taking little chunks from far away that add up. But for those characters that can beat her durability wise and stall her astral well they do present a problem for her.
I find Chris to be irritating at all times with Morrigan, but only truly a nightmare when itās Chris/Dante/Strider. Which is the most common Chris team I play against. Also probably his best team. That said, you can change up your team to counterpick that, but that typically means benching Doom.
I wouldnāt say Firebrand did nothing. In fact, your third point is exactly what Firebrandās job is on a team, and Zakās Firebrand did just that in the majority of the matches. Momentum IS important, but itās the characters that can gain that momentum effectively that have an advantage.
I think the point is he could simply replace Firebrand with a better characters and you really wouldnāt be missing anything.
Iām pretty sure you can do the same combo with Magneto on point too.
Firebrand is still meh⦠hope Iām proven wrong with results on the next majors though.
What did he do? Ok, he won the first game, but then was snuffed by SS very quickly. His FB did not gain momentum. Zakās FB is arguably the best in the world, but that set did NOT prove your statement.
TFC pools are up. Dunno how set in stone they are or if big names will be registering on site and be added later, but hereās what I think will happen. Link: http://tfctournament.com/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3/
[details=Spoiler]
Pool 1: ChrisG over Pzpoy. Do I need to say anything more?
Pool 2: Flux over Meep. Sixfortyfive should do alright.
Pool 3: Asiandemon, Potatosalad, or Andre could make it out. Dunno who it will end up being.
Pool 4: Flocker in winners. Dunno who else in that pool is good.
Pool 5: Angelic over Insaynne.
Pool 6: Iād say itās a tossup between JWong and Marvelo over who gets out in winners. Probably JWong, but Iād love for Marvelo to beat him.
Pool 7: PR Rog the āretireeā in winners. I guess Pokchop in losers because I know he plays Zero, but who knows?
Pool 8: Champ over Unknown.
Pool 9: I guess Kresent and ShadyK will end up in pool winners finals? No clue about the others. ShadyK has the matchup edge with MorriDoom but being washed up as he is (Kidding, kidding) maybe Kresent could take him down.
Pool 10: Xian, RoachKing, and Jeopardy are the notable players in this pool. No clue who will end up beating who.
Pool 11: Knives over SumBrwnKid. Sorry Alukard, but 1. I gotta root for Georgia, and 2. SumBrwnKidās Wolvie is disgusting. Maybe he can beat Knives, too? Hereās hoping.
Pool 12: JRosa and CJ Showstopper will probably end up in their pools winners finals with the loser facing DapVip. With the team Dap plays he could be a long shot but who knows? The dude is good and could pull off an upset.
Pool 13: MastaCJ over Marvisto. Felax and Psychochronic should do well but I donāt think theyāll get out of pools.
Pool 14: KBrad over Mono. Could be the other way around.
Pool 15: RayRay in winners, while NeoKarsh, Will Richards, or Sean Aquino could get out in losers.
Pool 16: Moooooooooooooons in winners. Dunno about the rest to say who gets out in losers.[/details]
