Also who does Taskmaster actually lose to? I don’t see him having any bad matchups( 6-4 and worse)… Worse I can see would be 5.5-4.5 which really isn’t that bad. He seems like one of the most solid characters in the game

Come on dude, you make it sound like Felicia’s combos actually require as much effort as Iron Man’s. If you look at tournaments, you could come to the conclusion that doing combos into Wesker’s wallbounce move is too hard because most seem to settle for launch into magic series (even though s.H gives you forever to hit-confirm).

Nah Vergil 1 vs anyone has a really hard time with down-back. Also Dante’s projectile game allows him to self-assist and his DT is more effective especially against Vergil who doesn’t have a lot of safe mobility options 1v1. Vergil’s RT has no durability so it’s hard to get on screen against dante. Now if the Dante want to play offensive and not lame then ya … Vergil can auto-kill him even without assists if he has 1.5 bars stocked but if Dante has 3 bars stocked he can one shot Vergil. However, if Vergil can put a crown of swords on him he pretty much beats anyone 1 v. 1 as you have to deal with 2 50/50’s under it but again he needs 3.5 bars or so to make it lethal.

Summary: Eh … either unwinnable or debatable who has the advantage depending on meter circumstances.

I’ve seen Ricky Ortiz drop ABCS, BBCS with Wesker twice in a row but he chokes up in every game he plays. He’s been choking since I’ve first seen him in tourneys at the old Evos. It’s just what he does. Another player might not have done that.

I will write it off because I’ve seen top level play in other games where people just don’t drop shit as often as people are somehow doing in this game. I’ve definitely heard talk from old MVC2 players pretty much asking why people drop combos in this game.

Even if you DO drop a combo…the game’s offensive nature and limited defensive options allows you to turn it into a favorable situation often enough any way. Just like with the Ricky Ortiz situation, he dropped ABCS, BBCS twice but was still able to gather momentum off what he landed to win any way.

It’s not so much how hard your combos are…it’s how well you can capitalize any way IF you drop the combo. If you learn to turn a dropped combo into a favorable reset situation (which is not hard to do with most of the top tier) then you can’t go wrong.

If you don’t mind me asking, what else does he have that’s bothering you, or what exactly is so hard about controlling Dark Wesker?

DT Airdash J.H blows up down back. Grab blows up down back. Surprise surprise, vergil can combo off grabs. Dante’s shit isn’t high durability either, and Vergil can zone fairly well with air round trips to get dante out of the air(he has no horizontal air projectile) that hit on the way back and DT’d judgement cuts which have godlike hitboxes. Matchup is dead even.

Vergil is too underrated on these boards…

When Wesker moves at you there are 2 options -> down+back or up+back as his normals pretty much beat all but 4-5 characters for free. He goes low and you pressed up+back your dead … next character. up+back he reacted being the insanely fast son of a bitch he is with an air throw and your dead … next character. It seems like it shouldn’t work but it does and the fact he comes in more often then not with cr. M makes most people choose down+back but that sets you up for command throw.

Dark Wesker forces respect for his normals setting you up for his grabs and everything he has is + on block or safe (he’s really just too fucking fast). Also on incoming characters his really basic mixups are effective.

Apparently you only have good mixups in this game if you have an instant overhead, low, command grab, air command grab, air low, air overhead, double overhead, ground grab that combos, air grab that combos, air double instant overhead command grab, and Fissure.

unless you have all those options GTFO

Plus any normal where he takes the sword out of the sheath absorbs projectiles like Sent. We definitely need a character with projectile absorbing swords…

You forgot assist + port/pass through

The best part about Dark Wesker is the welcome mix up. It’s defintiely among the best in the game of the anchors. Mix up wise he doesn’t put anything on you as scary as some of the other anchors once you come in and any character that can stay in the air and shoot shit for a long period of time can pretty much burn his XF out after that.

Does Ricky actually practice the game at all?

Still, I’m going to retreat on this point (while still insisting internally that I"m right!) as you say, especially in the case of Felicia it’s not a significant enough thing to be mentioned.

I would also like to know who Taskmaster loses to, as that character gives nearly every character I play trouble. Even Strider has trouble against that bastard.

He said he’s trying to get serious at the game now. Didn’t like Vanilla much but from what I hear he likes Ultimate enough. UMVC3 has a lot of loose factors that a player like Ricky Ortiz won’t exactly like. He’s always considered games like 3S to be random so I know he must have some trouble playing a game where shit can just happen sometimes if you don’t have a really strong team from the front. Especially with his threshold for choking up on things I’m sure it’s tough for him to play a game like UMVC3.

I still stand by my point of just call your assist and put them in a stupid situation if you drop the combo any way.

That’s why Masta CJ’s Dorm is so scary. Mad easy TOD combos and even if he drops the combo you know Magneto assist + port is coming right after.

Felicia is a great character. I would agree that she has better-than-Wolvie potential. J Wong already played her, unsuccessfully and only one match, in a Tournament. Once he breaks her everyone will be on the Felicia train. Kitty Helper alone makes her have great potential with (no assist) unblockables. Just my opinion.

That’s a fair point. It’s a shame that nobody really utilises these kind of setups except for those who have taken the time to try it.
