What are people’s opinions on Viper? She seems to be the most consistently top placing character for everyone’s choices. It’ll be interesting to hear people’s reasoning behind it. Her pros are quite obvious, but I always feel she’s one of those characters based more on theory than actual solid practice, kind of a yet to be seen case. No doubt she’s way way up there, but dead top is the one thing I would question.
It’s really just so we can actually say we came together as a group and agreed on something. It will undoubtedly change within a month or two but how much things change is what I am most curious about.
If that is the case, it would make more sense for DJ to privately solicit tier lists from the players that he named above, compile them, and then report back to the larger group.
Tier lists can and do get updated. Happens with every game the older it gets. Remember the SF4 tier list where Viper was shit tier? Also this isn’t like MvC3 where we pretty much had no idea of what was good or not, now that we understand the game a bit better, it’s fairly easy to see where a character should be give or take a tier. I doubt that we’ll look back on this list in 10 months and be like man, wesker was so overrated.
On the topic of dorm, he’s one of the only people who has legit anti airs. Fuck that cr.M.
Filipino Champ and Haunts were making mad early tier lists when console Super SFIV first released that characters that clearly weren’t bottom tier like Sakura near the bottom and characters that were easily top tier at mid tier like Fei Long. Either way the general public likes to see a list of what players feel are the better and worse characters of the game to get ideas for who they should pick. Plus it helps them get an idea of who has the potential to be gdlk in tournaments and who for sure actually is at the time.
Haunts and Champ did their list as a private collaboration between a handful of players; I get what you are trying to do, I just don’t see the need in opening up another public topic to do it.
That’s tier whoring, which is a scrub mentality and something we need to discourage heavily. That’s exactly the reason why an official SRK tier list is an awful idea. Do you think we should be encouraging tier whoring?
I’ve been looking at tier lists for 10 years but always chosen my own characters regardless of tier. I’ve only stuck with top tier characters in a couple games since the mid tier characters generally more so tend to fit my play style. Hell I’m using low/mid tier Iron Man as anchor even though I post in this thread everyday. LOL. I like his assist a lot for my team and feel it does the best of everything for a beam assist outside of having 35 frame start up.
Yeah, the only reason I don’t rate purification is because of Jam Session. Too slow to be used as a GTFO, highly punishable, and hard/impossible to combo from unless you have certain characters. It should be a tracking assist considering it’s negatives tbh.
Yeah I hear you, I just feel that a lot of this Dark Matter stuff is reliant on the opponent not having a projectile themselves or being at fullscreen. Dark Matter doesn’t really give enough time to get a solid mixup if the opponent is good at keeping close, and if they like to take to the skies it’s nullified completely. Characters like Wesker almost never have to deal with Dark Matter thanks to Samurai Edge.
