Yeah, I’ve got a buddy who is finally learning how to play Vergil well and he’s pretty damn annoying. I see so much potential in this character.
Also, props on the Sunset Riders avatar, I just noticed it. That game is the shit.

I think you just have something against the character or you’re just getting blown the fuck up for making too many dumb mistakes, because this character isn’t insane or anything of that nature. He’s mad overrated on these forums even before the game came out. Is he good? Yes. Is he completely insane? No. He’s a solid A-tier character; I’d put him top 15. He’s in that group of characters that, with the right team and assist, can be a force. However, he doesn’t stand head and shoulders above the spencer’s, Trish’s, or Magneto’s of the world where you can call him insane or S-tier.
Lol, Virgil is way better than Spencer.
And Rocket Raccoon is still in lolwtf tier land.
I’m also pretty sure that Dormammu is the best Marvel character.
RR is in Midtier land. Which is where he belongs at the moment. However, with his tools, he’s one of those characters that I could see rising easily.
Are there any other assists or moves that cause that Vanilla style Web ball capture anymore?
I agree on RR being midlevel, his weekness is U/B to be honest. He can’t control anything about his head really.
That is a bold statement.
Head over shoulders better than Magnus, Spencer, Trish? No. Although I do think he is better than Spencer and about on the same level of Magnus and Trish (who I think are insane). I have him in A+ tier. He is pretty easily a top 10 character in this game.
Yes I get blown up by Vergils, there are a shit ton out there of him. I also use him now and know form a personal experience how ridiculous he is at dealing damage and building meter with a right team set up around him. Vergil with Wesker OTG and a horizontal assist for covered port mixups is bonkers (also quite fun).
What he can bring to a team in the #2 spot is also one of the best parts about him. 300-400K after a DHC? He is a walking death machine.
I still can’t see how RR is considered mid…at all. I think I’ve made this argument before, but nothing he has seems practical at all and I’ve literally never seen a single player have any real success with him on any level. I want to like him, but he just feels so…bad.
I approve of this statement.
This makes a lot more sense to me.
i don’t think so. it’s probably something they wanted to get rid of in general, not because it broke spider man but the mixups it gave other characters as an assist were kind of stupid
Hey, cool, you used my opinion on another character to try to discredit my opinion on a completely unrelated character. Amazing job.
Vergil is better then Trish.
Devil Trigger.
Trish is now invalidated.
good game guys. good fucking game.
Vergil does alot of damage, but when I can do the same amount with magneto and a DHC, it makes me hesitate to play him. On the other hand, when I can kill almost any character with magneto and a *vergil *DHC, he becomes alot more appealing.
It doesn’t really matter those.
The worst DMC character is…better than a large sum of the cast.
Edit:Since when does Magneto do the same damage as Vergil…
I must be doing something wrong with Trish, because Vergil is quickly becoming my sworn nemesis.
what isn’t practical ?
I agree that RR hasn’t shown himself to be above mid tier yet, but I don’t get this statement at all. He has poor anti airs, but he should be meeting them in the air anyway, j.S is great for mobility and defense. RR doesn’t want to be in a situation where he is rooted to the ground and has sent or someone above him, he should be mobile, it’s how he’s designed. j.S leads into a really easy juggle that (not quite as easy) can be converted into a full combo and a decent one (for a strange hitconfirm) too, about 650Kish I think it is.
Arguably his best normal is a low, so that’s going to be hitting you if you try to chicken block him and if the do successfully chicken block, RR can still call an assist and do boulder trap to set up an unblockable when you touch the ground.
Not going to argue him up the tier list, I think he’s pretty much where he should be at this stage, but you didn’t really state any actual reasons here, just one very vague statement. you play RR correct? I’d like to hear why you think he loses to up back.
EDIT: Oh and also, I was one of the people calling boulder loop impractical before. After some practice I’ve found it is actually very consistent on the majority of the cast and once it’s committed firmly into muscle memory, which does take a while, it’s really not that difficult. I just watch my opponent and adjust timing for height automatically now.
