Umvc3 phoenix nerf

I’m still using her on point. Haters gonna hate.

You know Seth’s going to nerf Pheonix even more just after watching that vid.

They already have…:bluu: But I’m not to worried.

Max’s change log . well it could have been worse . I dont think its dat bad . Phoenix players will need to block more and be more intelligent lol

I guess it’s suicide to not use Flight now before firing TK Shots. =P

yeah seems like it lol

Good I hope he nerfs that bitch to death. I hope she gets nerfed so bad the only people that are going to pick her up are Parker Brothers.

She’s been nerfed, but Dark Phoenix is still a problem. I don’t understand why people like you come in here and try to start arguments. It pointless, no one benefits from wity comments like yours.

Anyway, 4 gamer released an article of changes in UMvC3. Phoenix is discussed. There’s also a vid showing Dark Phoenix building meter quickly and how much of her X-Factor lvl 3 damage was changed. But one thing I noticed is her Phoenix Rage hyper still does about the same as Vanilla X-Factor lvl 3 Phoenix Rage. There is also a vid of Zero crossing Phoenix up when she snapped in. The article is in Japanese.

What a douche.

I cried when I was told that TK shots and traps dissapear when you are hit :frowning:

Uh, you don’t really need to get upset about the nerf. If anything it should help develope new uses for them. And besides after watching some vids, If her traps fire off the bird projectile and she gets hit, the birds don’t fade. So I’m only hoping they still do damage after she takes a hit. As for the TK shots, I think they still hang around as long as she is blocking. But she has some competion for the 3rd slot with Phoenix Wright and his OP turnabout mode that gives him invincible assist moves

The tears are exquisite.

What’s with the trolling?

After watching the Norcal vs Capcom 2 tournment, getting 5 bars isn’t super difficult with the right characters. F. Champ showed how you can build meter and kill with dormammu and sentinel without using meter needed for Phoenix. Not to mention his Phoenix(not dark) is really good, especially when pressured.

Yeah, like the Megaman fans’
I was thinking if both Phoenix Jean and Wright will do well in the same team.

Just wanted to add,****
"PHOENIX PLAYERS ARE OVER"
and…
Sweet dreams are made of these. Phoenix rises from the ashes, as expected.

Its like they expected a “Goddess” tier character to just drop to C or D overnight because they cried like babies. Thankfully, I guess, capcom hasn’t totally shattered my glass cannon.
As much as the Dark Phoenix saga needed to end (even in my opinion) I think a lot of this is just terrible kneejerk nerfs.

Mained Phoenix since January. Haven’t played since July. Six hours into UMVC3 tonight…
and…
STILL runnin’ Jeanie. Out of 20 matches, only DP’d twice, and died in one of those moments with of all things, anti-phoenix spider-man tech. Dark Phoenix still remains the problem criteria for some people, I seldom use her (no way!)

The Jean-nerfs just seem aimless to me now. I don’t want to sneak in my opinion of overall balance of the game, but once again I’ll simply say that Phoenix is certainly a dropped ball and catered far too much to mainstream whining and missed the boat. Maybe I should be grateful so far?
I don’t know what the plan was, but what works against phoenix (snap ins/combos/setups/cross-ups…you know, KNOWING the game?) -still works-, and what works for -good- phoenix players -still works-.

There are some damaging nerfs, and some I agree with, but some of her tactical elements were needlessly nerfed, while the ones that actually give scru…“newbies” trouble are still in full effect. People can still spam light feather as dark phoenix, health regen is still fully adaptable thanks to X-factor and regen, and after -eight months- will -still- complain they “CANT CONTROL IT.”
(shades)

I -guarantee- the same people who complained about phoenix in vanilla are -still- going to complain about Jean in this one. An x-factor nerf, health nerf, speed nerf, air and projectile nerf, and…there will -still- be bitching.

Oh, absolutely! There are people who have literally said, “She’s still viable. Nerf her again.”

As someone who’s used Phoenix since February and ran her on point since March, I can honestly say that the air special nerf was necessary. Some characters really didn’t have a way around TK Shot spam, like X-23. However, I believe the crouching M slide length and health reductions went overboard. A key element to fighting game design is that each character is supposed to be capable of winning on their own. With these nerfs, Phoenix has reached a point where she’s hardly capable of this anymore, and honestly, isn’t worth the risk. I’ll still continue to use her because I like Jean Grey as a character, but I think Capcom needs to take another look at her.

I agree with everything you said. Phoenix isn’t worth the work anymore. The health nerf was extremely stupid. Honestly, all they really had to do was nerf the homing cheese balls. One air fireball is fine, but losing the ability to block AND having it disappear when hit is going overboard.

It’s already hard enough to get DP thanks to the new system and meter nerf, so i don’t know why they went overboard on nerfs anyways.

And with all the nerfs I STILL get hatemail if I win with Phoenix. Should have known people would still whine and get so very salty because DP can still take out a bad players team. Notice I said a bad player (or newer to the game). I haven’t really played anyone online that is too good, because the game is still new. The hatemail also came from a Wesker/Wolverine/Ryu player. Phoenix is nowhere nearly as dominant as she was in vanilla. But, she is still a viable character. Not only does the homing ball disappear when she’s hit, but I’m finding a lot of times it won’t even track properly.

So, actually spotted a buff to Jean in last nights session - if the killing blow gives her 5 bars she’ll trigger Dark Phoenix Rising now instead of just dying.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It also seems like she’s gotten a reduction in hit stun decay and a slight damage increase. If it weren’t for the health nerf, I think she’d be better off now than she was in vanilla, but that health nerf hits her hard.
