UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

The reason no one throws around hailstorm is because its slow and her meter build is an issue. It makes it a lot harder to slow the pace of the match when need be but again I wasn’t saying the damage on it needs buffing just Storm in general. The only buff hailstorm needs is in speed and that’s only after having a boost to meter build

Iron Man can cancel out of his dash. He has the same properties as Doom’s dash except Iron Man has the ability to cancel into attacks after frame 11 of the dash while Doom can’t cancel into attacks at all. Both characters can cancel into jump on frame 1.

Doom basically has the same problem as Iron Man except Doom has foot dive and Iron Man does not. If they just gave Iron Man a durp dive when he’s inevitably forced to go to the air like Doom…people wouldn’t complain as much. Foot Dive just covers up the fact that they both technically have shitty properties on their dashes in comparison to the other cast.

I believe Iron Man has a better ground dash than Doom overall it’s just when one is forced to go in the air one has a move that covers both sides and causes a hard knockdown ground bounce and the other does not.

They could just give him a better dash, but it still wouldn’t fix anything in comparison to Doom. He just needs something durpy for when he has to go to the air because that’s all they did to fix Doom’s ground dash issue from Vanilla and now he’s fine. I remember the times when I felt like Iron Man with Doom’s ground movement in Vanilla, but now I just take to the air and press S when shit looks shitty.

I love the hell out of Storm, but even I can’t justify this move having a faster startup. It simply does too much so it had to have some kind of drawback. A long startup was that drawback, and I really don’t think it’s an unfair one at all.

Hail Storm becomes a 1 frame move on a DHC any ways. The start up when she’s on point is pretty fair for what the super is capable of doing. It basically can kill some assists in one super with out XF. You need a super with a lot of invincibility to hit Storm once it becomes active also. The only issue is it’s hard to make a team with Storm second that compliments what she needs well. If there was a really durpy anchor that covered everything that Storm needed she would be pretty fine in the second spot.

Which really TAC infinites have already buffed her in the second spot.

I probably should have cleared up what I was saying more. I meant when he dashes and cancels he keeps his forward momentum instead of stopping altogether.

As for Storm I understand what hailstorm does I just feel its too slow. This could be because lately I’ve been going back to playing MvC2 more and it seems a lot faster but I honestly don’t recall frames in that game like I use to. I just don’t see how it would make it a troublesome super by having it come out a few frames faster. I’m not asking it to be instant or invincible on the way up.

Another change they can make in the patch that isn’t happening is make Iron Man’s Proton Cannon safe on hit.

I want sand splash hyper back for felicia to help deal with zoning… Lol. Also, Delta kick needs to start up faster… The bible says its 7 frames but I can’t use it on reaction to go over projectiles… Also, she needs a bigger hitbox on when she raises her leg on startup…

Faster startup on double typhoon for storm would be cool. More hitstun on her normals or lower her scaling so can combo longer…

Either better scaling on Trish’s normals or more damage on her projectiles… Would be fun

It effectively allows u to instantly get ur roundtrip charge ready as soon as you fire it, so you have round trip out 24/7 which can create infinite blockstrings. . . nothing much

I was playing MvC2 the other day and I forgot how many supers characters are missing now… sheesh. I wonder what Doom would be like if he still had that sphere orb of his, but yes Felicia definitely needs that super back.

Edit: It may just be me but Trish’s limps look so small that sometimes I find myself thinking that she shouldn’t be able to combo me like she does :lol: I don’t know why but I see her limbs hit me and I just start thinking everything is a freakin :l:

Oh yeah I’ve never heard of that glitch or seen it, luckily, but yeah… I see how deadly it could be.

Storm needs more damage or longer combos.

I also agree that Trish needs better scaling, she has the tools to perform sick combos but her scaling is stopping her from doing that.

Felicia needs an overhead… That would basically make her complete… It’s a 50/50 mixup off of a HKD. Too nice… :slight_smile:

There’s no question in my mind that IM would be at least high mid if he didn’t have that gimped ground and air dash. His cr.l is amazing.

Iron Man’s shit ground dash is his biggest limitation IMO.

Its worth noting that off certain situations (mainly counterhit) you can get ADD or AADB j.H or j.S dash into a c.L, full bnb combo. Damage is only slightly over 700k. You can also combo off Repuslor Blast midscreen in certain situations by doing spread, dash L Smart Bombs OTG, dash c.M,s.H, S air series, spike, H Smart Bomb OTG xx Proton Cannon for 560k. I feel like doing these two things is not something Capcom wanted and that’s why they made his ground dash so shit, but he can do them anyway and its still not that spectacular damage wise. The restrictions put on Iron Man’s movement and scaling are way too severe for the type of game UMvC3 is. Its like they didn’t want him to ever be any good.

Both his ground dash and air dashes are shit. After reading DevilJin’s post I can only wonder how different he’d be if his knee drop was in the game still and had knockdown properties

He’d pretty much be where people want him to be. That’s the only thing I want out of him is just one thing that covers a lot of shit while he’s in the air. Some characters pretty much force him to stay on the ground and whore repulsor blast + assist because he has trouble consistently dealing with dash under cross up shit.

I don’t think Viper or Zero need any nurfs, they barely can get in the top 10’s in the general stats of the metagame. Nothing broken there just like how nothing was broken about Wesker before.

IMO, guys who need buffs are Strider, Sentinel, Ghost Rider, Hsien ko, and RR.

A nice buff for Strider would be a health raise, and either change Ragnarok into a level 1 super (with a small damage decrease) or up the damage from legion. I don’t think Strider needs any damage raising other than his legion super because currently Strider can pull off decent damage when the mix ups and combos are going good.
