UMVC3 Patch/Balance Discussion *NO PATCH...but word is out of possible ALL CAPCOM VS game coming*

Honestly the only thing they need to do to teleports are make it so they dont get faster in XF and nerf the assist that make them so abusable. (Vajra/Tatsu/Cart/Disrupter/Triple Arrow)

The worst part of patch discussions is how many people have zero grip on the reality of the game

Most people will probably disagree, but I think these are all great suggestions. Seriously, fuck teleports. Learn to walk.

I honestly would not mind teleports if they weren’t so damn safe. I would like to see those teleports that put you above your opponent to lock your blocking until you land. Phoenix and Strange as exceptions, perhaps.

Are you kidding me? Invincible hammer into TOD while building 3 bars was dumber than EX Seismo. Leave Dante as is.

I think that the one balance change that is needed and that would completely change the game for the better is this:

  • Give every single character an extra 600K health. That way, the game would become less unforgiving, X-Factor would stop being so ridiculous, and we could forget about one-hit kills (although it would still be possible to achieve a one-hit kill if you really were willing to burn all your resources to get rid of a character that gives you trouble).

Also, MVC2’s matches were pretty long, and it was the most fun fighting game of its time. Characters had lots of HP and there was no X-Factor. In MVC3, everyone dies way too easily, and matches can end in the blink of an eye. It may sound like a dramatic change, but I am sure that it would make the game much more enjoyable.

Personally, I’d like to see them shy away from “nerfing” certain characters and just go straight to buffing the weaker ones.

For instance, I feel like Iron Fist is a good character but lacks any kind of air control. They should buff his throws to give him enough time to combo off them. He has nothing in the air at all, people just hold up back and neuter him.

Thor should gain movement speed on X-factor, ridiculous he doesn’t.

The main thing I’d like to see “fixed” is TAC either removed or punishable if you guess right. As it stands, this is the dumbest mechanic ever.

X-factor could be normalized for everyone, or remove the damage boost and leave the speed + guard cancel.

Either way, I don’t see a patch coming down the line anytime soon, but I can wish. This game is pretty balanced outside of a few characters, and with the right buffs to the weaker ones we could definitely see more variety.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Have you ever seen high level MvC1/XvsSF gameplay? Matches end quick and you never get a chance to play.

You know, I never mentioned MVC1 or XvsSF. You may not like MVC2, but you can’t deny it is one of the most successful and popular fighting game in history. And I think that MVC3 would benefit from being less unforgiving. If anything, it would make it even more popular among gamers.

Theres a reason Cable/Storm invalidated everybody and their mother, they controlled space and ran away so well that others aside from Magneto and Sentinel could smack em.

The thing with your post, is that you seem to want to make it to MVC2. Which is why i pointed the other games out.
How it being less unforgiving would make it more popular among gamers is beyond me. Vs games will always be if you like it, you like it. If it’s stabbing you repeatedly in the anus and making it bleed it probably isn’t for you.

I don’t think it’s real, but I personally really wish they could maybe improve the netcode a little bit :sad:
I would love to see Dante get his Vanilla Beehive damage back. Fuck using a super get those extra 5k for reals >_<

The problem with giving people more health is that it shifts the tiers for the worse even harder. The reason games like ST were still pretty playable despite tiers was that there wasn’t a huge disparity between the damage per hit between characters. If you got your hits in with a lower tier character you could get the win easily.

Characters like Viper, Mag, Zero and Vergil having a lot of health just makes the tiers harder to fight.

It is still a teleport that can be protected by an assist. It is still a tool he can use PROPERLY. Log Trap is still something that can be used properly. Both of these can be solved with… a beam.

the same with Chris’ traps you cant just throws them willy nilly.

I believe Thor’s movement speed is best in Air. he’s fine speed wise.

TACs infinites patched out is likely the one thing we’re really gonna get if we get anything at all.

And yes, for how skewed the risk/reward is for TACs right now, they should be punished to some extent.
