I personally prefer Marvel with the TAC mechanic than without it, but I do think it could use a higher cost. I’ve said before, you pay half a bar, and:
:d:: Get 1.5 bars (1 bar net)
:f:: Opponent loses 1.5 bars
:u:: Deals 150K more. Alternatively, steal one bar from your opponent (net +0.5 for you, -1 for your opponent)
As for the combo extension thing, why not have more severe damage scaling, beyond what is normally capped? Or maybe run it the other way around: capped damage scaling (above normal limits), but standard hitstun.
Even with TACs and sometimes infinites, though, people are still spending bar for kills.
And I think the biggest reason you don’t see a lot of TACs in high level play is that they involve risk. Not a lot, but in a game like Marvel, even a little risk is dangerous. That’s why you see people go for DHCs rather than TACs. “The threat is worse than the execution.” (That probably didn’t fit, but…)
I think the way to ‘fix’ TAC (besides taking it out, because even if Capcom did update this game they wouldn’t do that) would be to make it so if you successfully TAC countered the opponent would be put in dizzy state, giving you a max damage punish. I also think they should find a way to get rid of the full hitstun reset and still make it count HSD after TAC but I don’t put that much faith into Capcom’s QA team.
Changing the TAC rewards doesn’t really change that your are putting the opponent in a guessing game rigged in your favor and if you win you get a huge combo or an infinite depending on the character you’re using. People say ‘Marvel is a one touch death game’ and it basically is without TACs. An average bnb DHCed into a second super is enough to kill 80% of the game’s cast. TAC is unnecessary in addition to being stupid.
First, a TAC does not reset hitstun scaling. It pauses it. For example, let’s say I get a TAC at 50% hitstun scaling (BS numbers, but bear with me). As long as neither I nor my opponent hits the ground, the hitstun level stays at 50%. However, the counter is still going. The second either I or my opponent hits the ground, the hitstun goes back in. So if I built up to 10% scaling, and I hit the ground, the game realizes it’s 10%, and my opponent probably falls out. the TAC infinte works by “tricking” the game into thinking you never hit the ground.
Secondly, though I agree the guess leans in your favor, a full punish I think is too much. Then no one would use it, and the mechanic is effectively as good as removed. Maybe it would do a percentage of the combo you did leading up to the TAC?
Yeah the worst parts… Delta kick starts up in 7frames which is good,but the hurtbox is huge and it is also easy to evade and hit her out of.
Her projectile is a charge move… I won’t even elaborate on how bad that is for a projectile that does go full screen. Wesker’s wave dash and teleport are much faster than felicia… Ur better off regular dashing with felicia b/c she doesn’t go very far wavedashing. Wolverine and wesker kill her in the damage department… Felicia has little aerial coverage… Wesker’s gun shot is more reliable than Felica’s delta kick at keeping people out the air…
If you look at the the changes I suggested, they don’t make her necessarily better than the others, but they make her stand out more
No… Zero needs good players… Felicia needs a reason to be picked up… Capcom didn’t give her one… Because she has no niche…

Noooo, don’t make him a power up character. Fill that niece for someone else. We need an actual dedicated Keep-away character. I think that the hard knockdown thing on throws wouldn’t matter because you still wouldn’t be able to get anything off of it without assists. Axe Toss’s priority is pretty good, it’s more about controlling air space than fighting other projectiles. The meter gain he needs. Dagger Toss fire rate… ehhh idk. They are mostly for breaking armor and doing stuff that lance cant, fire rate wouldn’t change much.
You’re watching a different game than I than. I don’t even watch Marvel streams that much, but when I do and a player is running Doom I’m gonna see some TACs.
