For being so focused on making it feel like MvC2, they sure got it horribly wrong.
It had that though.
I have a whole speech on that, but will do a TL;DR
The realities of game design in 2009+ are so very far distant from what you could get away with in 1999.
Didn’t Capcom say they weren’t touching the game or the devs weren’t working on it anymore?
Isn’t this thread kinda pointless and more of a changes you want to see, not a changes that might happen but actuall won’t?
There’s been lots of circumstantial evidence otherwise, especially with the whole TAC mess.
Also, rule of thumb. Don’t believe Capcom. I’m not just being cynical either. Lying is practically their MO.
You’re mostly correct. Niitsuma said he might do something else since he is going to Evo, but said not to expect it till after Xmas.
The main reason this thread exists is because shit was always getting whored out in my tier thread so I dumped it here. Hard to talk about the current game when a bunch of shit that won’t happen ever keeps getting spammed up in it.
Especially not the shit people are asking for where you’d practically have to be a Capcom of Japan dev guy for it to ever appear in reality.
Sounds like SFIV trying to be like SF2. Works, but not even close to being reminiscent of the older games for me.

No combo in this game has the feeling of doing a MVC2 ROM with Magneto and alternating using different normals. I miss that.
Mags TAC infinite looks pretty ROM-ish, but i’m no MvC2 player
That’s most likely because systems like HSD don’t make it very viable. Which is why I was never a big fan of the mechanic.
I prefer older systems that just let you do whatever you want without doing things that don’t really work to stop infinites like adding values to specific moves. That’s why I like Skullgirls where you simply can’t repeat the same starting normal in a loop. Unfortunately they’re further toning the infinite detect since the one in place still allowed too much damage and not enough emphasis on resets.

Valentine player would call the changes unfortunate
Once they learn some good resets…not really. Still has the game’s best normals and hit confirms. Her only real issue is that she doesn’t add much support value making her pretty shitty as a solo character or anywhere but first on a team.
The changes will definitely make 3 character teams stronger so I’m getting rid of Painwheel. Love her…but I love Valentine and Parasoul more and will add Double in the back since Skullgirls is like what would happen if MVC3 only had one strong lockdown/horizontal assist.

Yeah everybody is. I stopped playing it hard once I heard because now that I know a lot more about how the neutral works in that game I’ll need to change my team up. Plus the game is still really in development since they haven’t even added the 2 new people yet.
Sometimes the best way to patch/balance a game is to just play something else.
I don’t really UMVC3 needs to be patched/balanced outside of a few small things so yeah…can’t really add a lot here. I just made the thread for everyone else.

To people posting “remove TAC” etc.:
Win?
You don’t have to build teams around Wolvy and Wesker for them to be viable characters. The people that win in Ultimate are the ones with the best team synergy to counter their opponents; otherwise, games would turn into who has the best Phoenix.
Please lists Wesker specific setups that warrant him not needing a buff.
Morrigan had the same tech in Vanilla: @1:30

Just because it was undiscovered doesn’t mean she was low tier ever, she just wasn’t used because people hive-mind to percieved top tier. Faster flight didn’t make her what she is now.
I’m not against buffing Firebrand, he needs setups that are more complex then figuring out how to tech out of them, or mashing out of them with high priority moves.
You’re missing the point. If every character in Marvel was viable by themselves, the game would come down to synergy vs technology. Because every character isn’t viable by themselves, building a team up around a character that isn’t viable will results in failure. A balanced game wouldn’t have a tier, just viable and inviable.
Firebrand is a gimmick because on average he does 200-300k damage per combo, which means that he needs 3/4 resets to kill most of the cast. Even with the unblockable, he still needs to reset multiple times before he kills. From what I understand of Firebrand, if you take the lockdown assist while firebrand is charging the unblockable, Firebrand can only cover 2 of the 3 tech options you have when you pop out. So if you get out of the unblockable setups and avoid the high lows, you’re left facing a character that can’t kill you so you just have to wait for an opening.
For me, the mark of a gimmick team is one struggles against a worse player with better characters.
Actually most of the mid, low tier need buffs to be viable because they are gimmicky/bad in their current form. Idk why people tend to think making a character viable will make them overpowered. I personally, feel the only problems with Ultimate so are spiral sword loops, and the imbalance of the low tier, but other than that, the game is good in its current state and wide spread nerfs would hurt the game more than benefit it.
You should learn something about Firebrand before you rattle off “facts” about him.
Since most people won’t read and only watch vids. Watch Zak Bennette play at the FGTV house. They were actually marking down wins for Firebrand after he landed his first hit.
That posts reads like “Firebrand does low damage so he’s a gimmick”.
LMAO @ Firebrand needing 3-4 resets to kill a character. On a properly built team ie Firebrand + Dormammu he kills you in one reset.

Holy crap this guy is serious!
