Specifically, I want to be able to follow up forward throws and Repulsar spread midscreen. His normal dash/plink dash isn’t good enough for either of those things.
The forward throw thing is a bit of an issue, but at least from what I remember Duck Strong saying you can convert into full combos off repulsor blast already.
Apparently you play a version of Iron Man without 11 frames of startup on his dash.
Fuck, in this game, whole teams can die in less than 11 frames.
If there is a way to do it I’d love to know, as far as I know you are forced to use 3 bars to combo off spread. You can link normals after it but its very inconsistent.
I know how to plink dash but Iron Man’s dash is still not that great, if you could cancel it on like frame 5 instead of 11 for example it would be a lot better.
Well considering Morrigan and Doom have similar ground dash problems that you must take to the air to account for…there really isn’t much of a difference with the Iron guy other than his hit conversions being harder to set up.
The dash really isn’t that much of a problem since it is better than both of their ground dashes any way. The bigger issue is that other characters who have worse ground dashes like Morrigan and Doom have superior air to ground conversion and space control. Iron Man can hit areas of the screen that Doom can’t on his own, but Doom can convert off the situations he can much more easily than Iron Man.
Iron Man’s bad dash keeps him from utilizing his tools, which are his strong normals and Repulsar Blast xx Spread. That isn’t an issue for Morrigan or Doom.
You can already combo off of repulsor blast. Repulsor spread just helps to keep repulsor blast safer if it is blocked or whiffed. Ideally you’ll want an assist covering to make it harder to hit Iron Man during.
The correct assists can help mitigate such issue like I said earlier. If he had a faster air dash and better back hit boxes for his aerial normals it wouldn’t be as much an issue. That’s really all they really need to improve with him other than making some of his conversions easier if they feel that’s absolutely necessary. If he had the durp air game like Morrigan and Doom no one would care about his ground dash.
Doom and Morrigan are never on the ground long enough for their shitty dashes to be much of a factor.
The only things I would like in this game:
Slightly alter the damage scaling on Dante’s specials to where the last sequences of his combos don’t do like 2K per attack. Don’t make his damage scaling stupid like Vanilla but at least make the man not have to burn super to take off the last 3K health he’s been doing Beehives to get rid of for the last 15 seconds.
Give Dante back his old st.L.
Decrease the frames on Dante’s cr.L by 2 frames. I think that a move that doesn’t even hit (read: completely whiffs) on certain characters in the game deserves to be a little faster.
Give Sentinel 1.1M health, no other changes.
Give She-Hulk her chainable cr.L back, keep slide distance the same as it is in Ultimate (still a good move), take away the wall bounce on Clothesline.
Get rid of assists causing HSD.
Take away the ability to call assists during wakeup roll (this should have been removed back in Vanilla and it doesn’t even seem like they realized how much of a problem it is).
Remove Lightning Loop by making the startup on Raikousen much longer.
Make Vergil’s cr.H a normal hit instead of a soft knockdown, make Vergil’s st.L a little bit slower, reduce the speed on his cr.L slightly.
that’s all I can think of for now.
I was hoping they would leave the game alone.
But still I do want to see more she hulks, modoks, iron men, and hsien ko players out there.
I also think capcom should let morridoom cook for a bit before they hand out any nerfs.
Comboing off Repulsar Blast (raw Blast no spread) is really hard without just doing spread into Iron Avenger. I’m telling ya man, spending 3 bars is really your only option with any sort of consistency to combo off it, unless you are close to the corner, in which case you can do dash L Smart Bombs, c.M combo afterwards. It would just be nice to do that midscreen since Repulsar Blast is easily his best move, and comboing off spread midscreen is impossible with his bad ground dash.
Many characters in this game get combos off their best special moves rather easily, Iron Man doesn’t have the mobility to do that.
But I will say I think his air mobility is fine and actually suits his playstyle in this game. Its just his ground dash that needs tweaking. Its completely counter-intuitive to his toolset.
Give Morrigan Soul Eraser and Give Iron Man back his Knee Drop and his dash speed. That is all.
These are all great ideas and remove a lot of the stupid derp in the game.
Oh and another thing.
I would buy a whole new retail copy if we can get 0 input delay online mode.
Fuck variable input delay seriously.
You can still enjoy the game, but you have to deal with a lot of stuff that has no competitive value.
Nah his air mobility really hurts him when he’s in a spot outside of the first spot as it makes it overly easy to welcome mix him up as he’s coming in. It’s the single thing that makes him the hardest to play in any spot but the first spot.
The single biggest problem I ran into with Iron Man is the lack of speed in his air dash and lack of hit boxes that extend well behind him making it near impossible to escape welcome mix ups. Putting Iron Man in a welcome mix up is as easy as dashing behind him as he’s falling in. If they dash behind you, you’re fucked.
His ground dash could use a tweak but like Morrigan or Doom, it’s more about just improving the durp of his conversions from the air (just make them flat out easier) and people would be fine.
Buff the everloving shit out of Hsien-Ko plz:
- Make pendulums cancellable with S up to 3 times in the air
- cr.H and Anki Hou H items OTG capable
- Increased foward momentum and speed on her airdash and ground dash “hop-a-port”
- Gong Assist is H version, starts up in front of point character

Bomb tosses assigned to a command normal, Anki Hou items follow the Vampire Savior patterns to determine stun items before tosses.

Tenraiha’s iron press making contact with the ground causes stagewide hard knockdown to a standing opponent or assist. No damage unless iron balls/press land on you however.
Take health, take active time of Rikumon mode away, I don’t care, but someone with such a unique fighting style and mobility options should not exist in this game in such a neutered manner.
If there is the off-chance that there would actually be a balance patch, the only changes I would find reasonable at this point in the game’s life are adjustments for characters introduced in Ultimate. All the vanilla characters had the benefit of at least one cycle of balance changes (for better or for worse) though, I think a general consensus regarding the Vanilla -> Ultimate transition was that it at least made a wider selection of characters in the roster more viable in high-level play. Poor Hsien-Ko though.
Aside from all that and addressing the strength of Hidden Missiles assist, any possible changes to the rest of the cast should be done carefully, selectively, and possibly minimally. I believe the game still has room to evolve and any other drastic changes in the same vein as the MvC3 -> UMvC3 transition wouldn’t be reasonable right now.

Balance Wishlist

Don’t change anything about Zero except reducing his minimum damage scaling so it’s more in line with characters like him as opposed to Hulk, removing buster cancelling is dumb because it makes him way less fun.
Nerf Vergil in some way to tone down his incredible derp, teleport has more recovery, H and S frames or hitboxes, damage, helmbreaker now minus due to less blockstun and uncancellable to things that aren’t super. There’s a bunch of different ways you could do it just don’t overdo it
Nerf Phoenix / Dark Phoenix again because, fuck it. Why should the character who forces you to change your entire gameplan not be somewhat low tier
Remove Firebrand’s unblockable or make it charge longer so he can’t do it after a snapback, or change the arc somehow so it doesn’t hit at incoming character height
Nerf Wesker JS startup and hitbox, give him added recovery time on teleports
Nerf Hidden Missiles startup as an assist and shrink the hitbox from the silo behind doom
Remove F+H being cancelled into teleport, nerf JH hitbox for Dormammu
Nerf Sent drones somehow, increase Sentinel health to 1.15 or 1.2 million give him 5 to 15% faster flight speed
Nerf Magneto damage so he does ~150k less before super
Force Spencer up grapple to scale with damage

Iron Fist
- Make cr.l a low hitting kick with good range. The range on his lights are terrible and he has no fast lows to stop people jumping.
- Slightly more knockdown time on air throws. Why do I have to perform somejust frame shit to get a pick-up while niggas like Nova can whiff like three normals before he otgs?
- Make Chi cancelable into Rekkas but keep the 3 Rekkas rule.
- Let him perform Descending Fang off a wall jump. Give it the same angle as Gen’s wall jump diagonal dive and make it crumple instead of wall bounce. Make it plus on block too.
- Let
+:h: reflect projectiles instead of nullifying them.
- slightly more stun on air normals so he can confirm off normal jump height
