Wasn’t MvSF the least liked one for not being broken? lol “People only like broken games”
Yeah it was just a typical game where 2 characters (Omega Red and Wolvie) ran the game. So it was like what would happen if your combos were all forced to be really short like in ST and you really picked 2 characters if you really cared about winning.
Thor:
Mighty Thunder needs push back like Magneto’s magnetic shockwave. The super is overlooked entirely because of its numerous limitations.
Give Thor his pre-release trash talk back. I don’t know who thought “Mighty Hurricane” sounded better than “Feel Thor’s Might!” or “Mighty Thunder!” how sounds better than “Feel the Power of Asgard!” Thor drinks, he loves to fight and he talks to everyone as though they’re second class citizens. Let’s hear it.
A little bit better recovery on Thor’s cr. L. It’s absolute garbage. His ground normals are supposed to be bad, but…cr. L is just horrific.
Its cool, I probably will if the game doesn’t get a patch!
edit: This isn’t true, I like this game a lot despite constantly bitching about it, and you have a point.
I always was the type of person that felt you probably don’t like a game very much to begin with if you’re waiting for a patch to make you like the game.
2012 made people like SF4 again for some reason.
I actually do like the game, I even host a night at my place specifically for it, and I’ll probably keep playing if it doesn’t get a patch. I guess I just feel a patch could make the game better than it already is, and that’s what I’m holding out for.
I probably just need to take a break from this thread for awhile, I enjoy the hell out of this game except when I think about it outside of playing. I guess its a love/hate relationship and I doubt I’m the only one that feels that way.
I might just need to change my attitude about the game in general though.
Let me try to explain this better, may be TL;DR

[]Assist should not be able to be called while on the ground or while teching, plus they should not come out while point character has been hit.
So assist characters should only assist in the air? So meaning like, they should only be called while you’re on the ground either neutral or doing a combo on the ground is what you’re saying?*****(If you are I agree on that)
I’m saying when you are grounded and are about to tech left or right. The assist should be made to not be able to be called till you reach a neutral state after the techs. Assist calls during combos is fine, also revert fly mode back to a normal jump state to allow assist calls again. Fly mode is limited in this game to one flight per jump so it doesn’t hurt anything and most people’s fly modes are stupid short.

Allow full combos after throws for everyone, with less recovery for the person who activated, but fix the damage scaling to show as much. The fact that some characters can get full combos and others can’t is retarded.
Some characters MIGHT need this ability, but others just adds to their way too big of an arsenal (Wesker and Vergil I’m looking at you two)
Not everyone can followup their throws or the ones that can can only followup with a simple OTG that they can’t follow up without an assist. That’s their tools so be it, but for the ones that can actually followup then let them do so accordingly. If they dealt with damage scaling as opposed to hitstun deterioration then some characters would have stronger options. Vergil and Wesker can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time after a throw but they still get full combos. Other characters not only can’t do that high damage within that same amount of time, they also don’t get full combos.

Mashable supers should be longer when mashed instead of double hits.
And waste MORE time on the clock? No thank yoooooou.
You are thinking too much into this one. MvC2, a fully mashed hailstorm lasted longer than a non mashed one, added more hits because more came down, and it was still faster than than some unmashable supers in the game. When done right this could be done without a hitch. All they really would have to do is increase the speed on the standard supers to accommodate for the extra added hits without extending them too long. With that being said obviously the mashing wouldn’t be as easy as mash one button and still get full mashed super like in this game.

Get rid of beginning of the match throws. How anyone thought that was a good idea is beyond me.
With some easy maneuverability, you can get out of these. It adds a bit to the metagame.
I get this, but when you have Hulk who’s :f::h: has super armor, doubles as a throw, and when teched still puts him at a position to use that armor again. Yeah that’s stupid. It wouldn’t be too bad if normals came out faster than throws and if maybe the ‘switch trick’ was back in that also stopped Hulk’s super armor from starting but as is opening throws are pretty dumb. Since we are talking about throws also, it would be nice if certain characters most abusive shit didn’t also option select into throws for teching. I don’t mind that they have those moves they can abuse but you could easily nerf how useful they are by simply moving them to a button other than :h:

Fix damage scaling to allow better combos for characters that have abilities to allow for them, instead of hit stun fucking up everything. IE. Storm should be able to do her jump loops and fly loops in a combo by herself so she can at least build her own meter instead of doing one or the other.
Damage scaling or hit stun? Yeah some lighter characters are missing combo abilities when heavier characters have too much.
It’s both really. As far as combos goes, the most damage goes to those with special properties (knockdowns, ground bounces, wall bounces, etc) to their special moves with the exception of a few characters. I use Storm because she has no special properties. The one move she has that can OTG is slower than shit, and is only really used after air throws because players deem the combos that utilize it impractical. Cool, whatever, it makes no sense that she has it in her tool set to jump cancel and fly yet can’t use both in the same combo without help. I don’t mind assist to help extend combos but in a game that’s lacking anti air assist, it would be great for her to gain this ability. She would be able to build meter for herself and still deal a decent 700-750k (that’s roughly the damage she gets when she does both with an assist).

Bring back guard breaks, they would make some characters better. If not get rid of the block stun till you touch the ground bullshit to allow slower characters the ability to air throw as well.
You’re kidding right? Make spam teams prevalent? No. And slower characters not only have the ability to air throw, but they’re usually easier to do since they have more range.
You’re failing to realize that most slower characters also can’t followup after their own throws without outside assist. Meaning they would have to dedicate a slot to this tactic which isn’t always best for that character to begin with. MvC2 had guard breaks, yes. They worked differently, yes, the entire cast was able to take advantage of it. The entire cast was able to make use of it but only a few select characters had threatening guard breaks. The guard breaks in this game are throws. Cool but it’s redundant for a lot of the cast because, one guard last till you hit the ground, and two the ones that can truly abuse it do tend to be faster. Take away the “block till land” property, the untechable throw height and fix throw techs in general then you would have you a functioning option. The incoming character can’t be thrown till touched. So for them their choices would be, take the hit and possibly die (Cable, Mags, Iron Man, esque guard breaks from MvC2), block and pushblock and be prepared for whatever is next unless facing characters like Spidey who can use air grab supers to punish your pushblock attempt :wgrin:, or throw tech, but that can also be baited and turn into a counter combo. Obviously some characters will do it better but it gives everyone something.

Assist should not whiff their attacks in the corner. IE Dorm’s Dark Hole appears off screen when called in the corner.
This might have been done to prevent too much corner comboing/pressure (if it isn’t showing enough).
Assist don’t recover and come out as fast as they did in MvC2, and we don’t have any Psylocke-esque assist that will straight punish you for moving. I’m not seeing how this small tweak could cause a problem.

TACs should cost meter, not much, and take away red health like a raw tag. They should also be easier to counter and able to combo afterwards, without x-factor, when countered.
If they cost meter, then it would make [up] TAC kinda useless seeing as you’d want either for yourself to gain that lost meter or your opponent to lose it. Also since it’s by ‘chance’ they don’t take out red life. (As opposed to where you can have a free tag in with no counter on the ground)
The fact that you are tagging in a new character to deal more damage, and just as easily build more meter without losing red health using a small damn near “psychic” window should be reason alone to charge for it. The whole taking away and gaining meter aspect of it I just found retarded to begin with, my opinion. If you’re not going to charge it then give it a larger window to counter. I see the colors, but by the time I even register a color on the screen they’ve tagged out. As for the taking away meter for Phoenix based teams, honestly if all the other changes I’ve mentioned thus far were in the game I think we’d see a lot more snapbacks with incoming options to even prevent her from entering safely. Just saying.

Air throw techs should revert back to MvC2 type that actually throws the opponent away.
This I would probably like, no more mis-grab grabs… darn you Hulk.
This plus it would be a lot easier for both parties to react to creating a better post tech offense/defense type selection since the person being thrown would be the one flipping backwards, while the point would stay roughly in the same spot or a slight step back. Obviously in the corner air throw techs after reset attempts could get a slight trickier.

Fix hitboxes and add super jump auto correct for crossup purposes.
There’s already a TON of crossup potential in most if not all characters. The fact that half of this cast has a teleport is annoying enough for assist/teleport crossups. But yeah, certain hitboxes need to be fixed.
That’s the thing about fucked up hitboxes. Some characters have them some don’t, so where as someone may have a crossup s:l: another character doesn’t. Fixing the the hitboxes but adding something like super jump auto correct only really helps some people. On top of that you still have to put them in reset positions that can’t be air teched and considering you can roll from trips on reaction you don’t have AS MANY crazy left right hi/lo mixups as in MvC2 with this function. Obviously not everyone has a teleport or an 8 way air dash. It at least gives mixup potential to those who don’t deal crazy damage. Plus the auto correct would only affect the beginning part of the super jump the moment they leave the ground.
I didn’t add these but I should have. This game should be speed up a slight bit, needs more variety of assist, especially more anti air assist, and the assist should not affect HSD. Also assist should be more utility based with the ability to add to combos as opposed to only being there for combos but I guess that means you would have to buff characters to handle their own… like MvC2.
Told yall it may be too long to read.
Honestly, I’m super excited about the possibility of this game being patched. I really just want lower damage more than anything. Remember the days where you actually had to play the fighting game? Yeah, I want that brought to MvC3. Lower damage to about Strider/Trish/Firebrand level and I’ll be cool.
- Reduce the importance and effect of TACs. They should COST a meter and be combo extenders. Building/Taking meter is retarded.
- TOD combos off of air-throws/throws is complete nonsense. The scaling is not drastic enough on throw combos.
- XF needs some tweaking. It is still too strong.
- The input buffering helps certain characters and hurts others. I can’t stand trying to liberate with Dorm only to get a TP and get myself killed for it.
- Throw ranges. How does Ammy have a larger throw range than Hulk or Sent? Yeah…okay
Everything else was pretty much mentioned.

Seconded this, absolutely. Getting punished on a super that hits is some fucked up nonsense.
If they do a patch for this game i would love if they added a tournament mode, and a replay channel with a hitbox viewer.
In terms of balance changes alot has already been said and im no expert at this game so i cant really do a good job in terms of changes that improve the balance of the game.
I think they could do away with a lot of OS throw nonsense by moving throw to :s:. Then they could adjust launcher block/pushback/throw range values accordingly. In a perfect world…but really, that would be a great change. Also removing the ability to call Vajra from SJ height after an air tech/Tatsu after a ground tech for a crossup. That’s dumb.
Some characters have awesome :s:'s though. Throws need to be 2 buttons and have whiff animations.
I kinda liked MvSF, but it was a little too bare bones. The ridiculous stuff that was in the game stood out that much more because of it (berserker rage, sj. mp x 10000, repeat twice fill a bar, cr.hp infinite )
The combo system was a bit too limited, but throws barely did any damage and very few allowed you to combo off them, much less into a tod (Wolverine being the exception of course).
I remember hating on MSHvSF because Gamma Crush only dealt like 25% damage.
I want Skrull to tell me how much “He” loves me again.
It doesn’t work in the actual Marvel canon, the line comes from the Secret Invasion storyline. Pretty much, before killing their victims, Skrulls would say that to them, referring to their god as He. Super-Skrull had a sense of honor about this and did not support the invasion, so it makes no sense for him to have said it in the first place. They fixed their mistake in Ultimate.
Yeah, I know about Secret Invasion. But really, comic book canon is hilariously skewed out. I’d still prefer for Skrull to say something bawse rather than sounding like he has to take a galactic-sized dump.
I suppose, but it’s better than him saying nothing.
no it isn’t
My boy Phoenix Wright needs some buffs.
[]Bring health up to 1100K or even 1200K.
[]Make Maya’s shield start up faster
[]Eliminate bad evidence entirely. The entire concept of bad evidence is silly, because in the games there is no bad evidence. If you pick up evidence in the games, no matter how strange, it’s going to be useful eventually. Instead, make it so that in order to get to Turnabout mode he has to pick up all 6 pieces of good evidence.
[]Make him able to present his evidence while in the air.
[]Make turnabout last until he dies.
[]Fix his fucking cornered theme. Capcom took an awesome theme that filled you up with determination and made you feel like a boss, and turned it into shitty techno/dubstep.

And here’s the controversial one: make The Ace Attorney and instant win. For the amount of fucking effort it takes to get it, the reward needs to be greater.
If Capcom did this, I would definitely play Phoenix Wright more often, maybe even main him.
