I’m not talking about the losers I’m talking about the one beating ass. Just kicking peoples’ ass non-stop and they don’t even make the effort to get good enough to beat you gets old.
That sounds disturbingly close to what I’m like.
Yeah people not going to tournaments comes down to two things for the most part. Don’t like losing and don’t like having to blame themselves for losing. That’s why team centric games are easier for average people to get into since they can ride the victories of other players until they eventually maybe get good enough themselves.
“Defenders of the OTT”
“Worlds Collide”
“Great Adventures of Momo & Friends”
“Legends of the Hidden Temple”
“Unexpected Error”
“Momo’s Bizarre Adventure”
“Twisted Surreality”
im sure people make the effort. but some people got this thing called a “ego” where its like there are people trying to get better but they’re too high on their own shit to see that.
idk
edit: also i relize that every spot is different. so what i say might not apply to other scence’s.
This post resonates with me in the weirdest ways. It’s funny though, the beginning of playing Marvel with my bro (my only competition), I was the “tech/theory” guy and he was the “I’m just going to press these buttons and you’re going to take it” guy. It was aggravating to see how many losses I’d take just to barely scrape one by against him. I’d curse his characters, the game for giving so much momentum reversing potency to people, all manners of shit until one time I just got thoroughly bopped and he played the arrogant card. Mind you this is after I tell him all manners of shit to help him out and he tells me “it’s too much work”. Well, I kinda can’t wait for our next set because I’m feeling a lot better about swallowing all these losses and leveling up on the side than getting drunk off “free ride” wins.
BTW, you mentioned going to Next Level sometime, you’re a NYC native? Or do you commute?
I rarely ever plink dash, dunno why, I just don’t like to. I will do it if I’m in flight mode, but that’s it.
The way I dash is I tap two buttons, then down, then two buttons and kind of wave - dash like that.
If I’m just doing a single back - dash I just instinctively use the stick, same with a single forward dash, I just immediately think to double tap the stick. That’s the Street Fighter player in me I guess.
Eh, I’d say there is a third thing more relevant than both of those. Distance and travel. Even when I lived closer to locals I didn’t go regularly because it was a bitch getting in there and then trying to get home late at night. That’s the main reason I’d say why people don’t go to tournaments, not that shit about losing.
I hate losing honestly but the benefits I know it brings makes me forget about all the salt. More like I only get mad at my lost if I know I was playing stupid or was not playing smart. I can take the deserved L’s but its when I play bad and lose is where I’m mad at myself. I don’t mind paying up to go to a local or whatever. Getting better is an investment.
@FrostyAU No sweats Frost, I don’t plink anything in Marvel either and that includes dashing. Back in MVC2, I was just always used to 2button+down repeat dashing. It just kind of carried over to U/MVC3. Even without plinking, I still get all the same effects I would get if I was to plink anyway. I can plink though, its not like I haven’t practiced it or haven’t learned it before.
Well, Now the wait of uploading the AV begins, and I swear to god, if it doesn’t work even though it’s below the sizes I’m gonna hurt someone. www.twitch.tv/Sharakonta
Starting the stream up now, beginning Disc 2 of FFVIII so get in here and watch
This is what happened to a friend. he’s quite good but the people around where he lives are ass and dont make an effort to get better, it halts his growth. He ende up dropping SC5 and other games because he was stalled on getting better
nah man thats everywhere. see, people should take an example from FGTV and House of Crack. I know people (me included) LOVE to talk shit about CJ Showstopper because he is basically the Yamcha of that group, gettiing bodied nigh-free by everyone there, but then he bodied Andre in the East Coast West Coast jobber match. And I’m positive he’d show up and clean house in many areas. Because he’s been tempered by having all those good players around him and being forced to get better.
This is all you need.

Finally got a title for OTT manga (thanks Jamal). I can finally put a title on the top of this cover page now >< Progress!
I really don’t mind losing a lot at all because I know that I will learn something from my losses and what I need to train on. The only time that I would actually get mad at losing is if I was playing very stupid or I made a dumb decision. The after that I would just train on what I need work on most, what I need to do in certain situations, how to adapt to certain situations, if my set ups needs work or not etc. I’m also willing to help other people when they ask for it.
Yes it works!!!
I don’t mind losing. I mind that I don’t have a job and can’t travel. ):
H-H-H-Hidden Missiles! of course
not just the fight…that argument animated gave me goosebumps. I just stumbled on that episode and it made me want to watch the next, and go through W7 again. The tempo, pace…all of it was great. Nowadays the anime is STRAIGHT ass.
Also, c’mon, Momo. OTM. Off-Topic Manga.
I live in New York. I dont go to Next level as often as I should.
