The issue isn’t the engine for the most part, the issue is just them being lazy as fuck and still making tons of $$$.
Look up the divine divinity series. That also runs on gamebryo engine (not sure if dragon knight saga does tbh but I know the first version does) and that game while had clunky combat (mind you it was done by a MUCH smaller studio with way less $$$) still managed to add diagonal running animations and weapon attacks that didn’t look like ass. 
This is something that can be touched up on in a big expansion or something but my favorite little bit about the game is the follow up with Sheogorath and the events of the Shivering Isles.

Obsidian was cool but I enjoyed FO3 more than I did New Vegas.

I was in training mode with Spencer and I just had this weird scenario pop in my head where Spencer was at a convenience store like Safeway or Walmart. He was like staring at a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and he grappled the box and punched the fuck out of it and the number 80,000 showed up when he did the punch. Spencer spilled cereal everywhere and then he yelled ‘EAT THIS!’ after he punched the crap out of the poor box of cereal.

At least bethseda games have some of the best mod communties out there, makes the game allot more enjoyable.
In terms of Dawnguard that came out recently. It’s fun and I like what they added but just a couple complaints
-Why the fuck are the two faction bases SOOOOOOOOOOOOO goddamn far from anything?
-Wish the Dawnguard were given better quest/characters, it seems the Vampires got all the interesting folk
-Not Enough new loot
-The Main Quest Ending was Anti-Climatic
Otherwise its a pretty fine DLC. The second to last of main quests for the DLC though is some epic shit. That is by far the longest bethseda game dungeon i’ve ever run across.
Bethesda has always had a bad track record for laziness. Where’s Waldo for the NES, considered one of the platform’s worst games if not THE worst, was one of Bethesda’s first games.

Last night I dreamt I was playing a weird Metal Slug style game with Paul Robertson style graphics where, once I got to the boss, I turned into The Magic School Bus with gattling guns on the side and a rocket launcher on the top - and I had to face a gargantuan, 5x the size of me, Thomas The Tank Engine who shot massive laser beams out of his mouth.
When I woke up, I was so disappointed it wasn’t a real game.
I don’t think I’ve ever actually met him. Met Viper, I thought it was just a persona he put on before I met him. Dude is loud as fuck, still pretty cool though.
Yeah Dishonored looks dope, do hope I really can go through completely non lethal.
It really is too bad that the community gets the crippled construction kit due to 3rd party licenses though. If it wasn’t for that people would easily be adding custom weapons and animations to the game since it would be cake for some of the guys.
Fallout 4 should be all sorts of awesome, I hope they hire Obsidian to do the factions, characters and quests though. FO3 fell short in that department.
