My biggest want is for them to fix the stupid no-block when trying to jump…
One less action per jump wouldn’t really break his TAC combos, because you should still get unlimited specials during flight… But it would also still be shitty news all the same. I can’t really see them nerfing modok at all though, because he’s pretty much seen as a joke character as it is, and he still has some pretty big weaknesses anyway…
But it IS capcom, and they seem to nerf all kinds of shit for no reason (it’s pretty much why I dropped Gouken in SSF4)
Maybe I just haven’t been paying as close attention to the MODOK buffs list, but I thought at some point that he was getting a move that drained your opponent’s meter, and that was the improvement to his S Psionic Blaster.
If this is real, I want to try it. I’m going to attend New York Comic Con, and I’d like to try whatever MODOK stuff I can while I’m there.
Oh, there is one thing I forgot to mention:
Lately, I’ve been doing combos in the corner in MvC3 that involve j.M. j.M, Psionic Blaster L, airdash down, j.S. In MvC3, you can hold down (because of the direction of the airdash and also because I follow up with cr.M to Analyze Cube, Jamming Bomb, and/or Balloon Bomb combos with assists) during the j.S and get a spike. When I did that in the UMvC3 test build, it instead gave me a TAC instead, so to get the combo I wanted with the spike, I had to airdash downward, put the stick in neutral, then press j.S.
Sigh…
This means that, probably as a general gameplay change, combos may be more lenient towards using TACs in a combo.
Good because right now we have at least four new characters that will shit over MODOK’s runaway game in UMVC3.
Three of them all have Tracking teleports, and two of them have tracking projectile supers(Strange, and Hawkeye). Another two have helper supers have priority of MODOK (Summon swords, and Ouroborus). One of them have tracking assist that will catch MODOK anywhere on screen(Teleport dive kick from Strider).
Never mind that we have worry about Magneto’s bullshit Gravitation move that will drag down MODOK from the sky.
You know, I think it will not be so bad. If you think about it, MODOK already has to go up against characters that are much more powerful than him in MVC3, and yet if he’s in the right hands, he can kick some major ass!
The UMVC3 newcomers are indeed going to be a pain in the ass for MODOK, but I think that with proper play, he will still be able to snatch the victories.
Honestly I just expect tweaks to further extend combos. If we find anything really “new” with Modok I’d be surprised. Seth almost seemed lost for words when I asked about DOK at Evo.
Luckily, tweaks are all MODOK truly needs. He has weaknesses sure, but they’re natural, logical weaknesses (except for the no block jump glitch thing, WTF). He’s always struck me as a well thought out character design wise, and his versatility shows that. The fact that a character like MODOK, whom we all thought would be “RUN AWAY AND SPAM FOR THE TROLLZORZ LOL” at first, turns out to be frighteningly good at rushdown and combing, is an achievement.
Btw. If psionoc blast S doesn’t steal meter, what does it do?
To be fair, other characters combo a lot easier, have better rushdown AND zone better…but I digress. I want MODOK to be better, not as is, considering his huge hitbox, slow normals, and block glitch.
Now I am glad MODOK doesn’t blow nether regions…but his face is dangerously close
I can understand that. Honestly, I’d like them to further emphasise his midscreen game, because MODOK is easily the most powerful character in the game at midscreen with assists backing him up, all of his specials and normals seem tailored to poking and proding the opponent right outside their comfort zone. I say, make his H normals a bit faster. like, makings.H faster would be a great buff, but it also wouldn’t be overpowered since it wiffs on so many smaller characters, and almost everyone when theyre crouching. It would actually make it a better AA versus square dashing characters, and even some teleporters I feel (if you anticipate it that is)
