UMvC3 M.O.D.O.K. changes/notes

It has a lot to do with the Push Block’s weird mechanic. Some moves like Doom’s dash can stop the Pushblock momentum, other moves will increase the pushblock’s momentum.

For instance Zero’s standing H will push him out full screen because it’s mutihit properties. His command dash will negate the PB’s momentum.

MODOK can too, kind of…but you have to stay in the air.

Through I seen Magneto combat AG by command flight, I think MODOK can as well.

The only real change I would want to see with MODOK, would probably be making his S psionic blasters actually useful. S sheild and even jamming bomb have obvious uses, but currently S blaster doesnt really… do anything. I figure, either make the damage worth the long startup time, or make it hard knockdown or something. conversely, change nothing but startup time, make it as fast (if not faster!) than L psionic blast.

Well, understand that 1 LoA isn’t THAT important. If S Blaster were as fast as L Blaster and had the same properties as now, that would be a little absurd.

That is a good point. However S blaster still feels like it’s not even worth 1 LOU right now. I just feel it needs SOMETHING.

Another little change I’d love to see for MODOK is a slight foot/ flight speed upgrade. He doesn’t need to be FAST per say, but speeding him up just a bit would be nice.

I don’t think would be absurd for S Psionic Blaster to be as fast as his L Baster. MODOK’s L blaster is still slower than Vanilla Magneto’s EMP L dIstrupter, and MODOK has to work a lot to get those LOUS. Magneto got some more cheaper stuff than MODOK does. Honestly I don’t see why what possible buff MODOK could get that could be worse than MVC3’s current top tiers.

I totally forgot about magneto’s “disruptah!”.

what programmer sat down and said to themselves “well, Magneto’s pretty good at rushing down, and has some pretty nice combos and mixups hmmm… he could really use a projectile thats faster than anything the other zoners in the game have! my work here is done. SHIP THIS SHIT”

I like the way Disruptorr was in MvC2 better. It came out fast, but had REALLY bad cool down, making any wiff a hoooooorrible mistake.

yeah, fuck it. MODOK deserves S blaster to be fucking awesome. it’s not like it’s spammable for christ’s sake, once you run out of LOU’s you gotta get back in and earn them again, AND by spamming them you’ve made your HPB total shit again. It’s like C. Viper’s EX moves, they’re good because YOU CAN’T SPAM THEM LIKE AN IDIOT or else you lose all that precious meter!

Hey, is anyone going to go to play one of the newest playable builds at one of the upcoming preview events? Been dry in the modok department for a while. Must be more changes for him. Also, maybe someone can get a comment on some issues like hitboxes not hitting crouching characters, flight unblock(praying there is still hope), push block nonsense, and randome glitchs like your own akuma tatsu assist destroying the slime and guns (cr.m and s.m)…or if they think modok is fine as is.

cr.l needs to be buffed. if there is one normal I want to see buffed, please be that. Modok needs at LEAST one fast normal he can use, and other than j.L (which is moot if you can’t get into the air thanks to pressure and unblock glitch), he only has cr.l… and that kinda sucks.

just make it able to hit everyone. just no more wiffing, that’s all I want :’(

good lord, it took me all day just to be able to log in again…anyways, in the video check out 26 or 27 seconds in. I do the same exact setup with akuma that I did will ryu at the beginning. However, the slime never reaches the ground cause akuma’s tatsu destroys it. you can even see the hit spark that it creates when akumas tatsu blows it up. I suppose I could have put up a simpler example, but I think this one is good because it shows how this specifically screws modok over.

I can’t believe it never dawned on me though… especially since I use sent drones.

Once we get the wall of snot at cubes going in the corner, the drones start hitting… BAM! Free unblockable! I can’t wait to start playing around with this… Once they start blocking drones in the corner, they can’t move, so you get to pick the perfect spacing, hello snot puddle into overhead…

I hope that he’ll be able to airdash out of regular flight mode without ending it.

Airdash maintaining flight? We can dream, but I seriously doubt it :slight_smile:

Maybe not his jump, but at least his command flight.

Most every other character can do that.

does doing air special moves before HBR still reduce the amount of additional hits of the super?
Killer illumination still slow as ever? Can you still do an extended combo after it?
otg slime still work the same?
hit boxes on his A and cr. A tweaked at all?
general startup/recovery of normals and specials feel the same?
any new or changed ex-moves?
flight mode still cancelled by airdashing?
new colors?

umm…thats all I can think of at the moment based on what others have reported. I look forward to your videos and I hope you get some good time with the game to give us all a better impression of ultimate modok. Have fun testing!

Modok’s flight seems shorter but that’s about it for me, he’s got 1 less action in the air too.

Any truth to this?
