UMvC3 M.O.D.O.K. changes/notes

I suppose I wasn’t being as detailed as possible. Ideally, cubes would stick around for a bit longer, so I’m thinking two cubes out at once, plus a bit of movement. Either way, this is all pure New Version of The Game Coming Out spew.

from chindogg’s change list announced at the umvc3 panel:

  • mvc3 panel…nitsuma says mashing is back for supers
  • holy shit, ammy can switch weapons in the air!
  • ironman didst have double jump, but can dash cancel air normals
  • viper has a new special
  • shuma can absorb meter by throwing
  • zero can cancel moves to max buster. like if u don’t want to DP
  • sentinel less health…
  • Thor mid air hand more range
  • taskmaster new special
  • Dante can like triple jump and like double dash during devil trigger
  • tron assist invincible gone
  • servebot launcher can be execute 3x in a row
  • hulk has a new charge move
  • phoenix…less health!
  • felicia, delta kick in mid air
    - modok, cancel out of a move in mid jump by dashing
  • morrigan can absorb your super meter by doing a certain move
  • akuma less health
  • chun, new version of sbk
  • deadpool had some kind of new cancel, by teleporting. cancel specials or something.

It was also said that all the changes were not announced…just the highlights

I was just gonna post about that. If MODOK goes unchanged otherwise, I can see some cute combos coming out of it like this:
launch>j.M, ADF, j.M, fly, j.M, ADF, j.M>j.S, land into whatever

cr. df H>superjump>j.H, ADF, j.H, fly, j.H, ADF, j.H>j.S, land into whatever.

Either way, I can see this as a good addition to MODOK’s corner rushdown more than his comboability.

Now, if we read what we have here LITERALLY, then o_0. Canceling normals, specials, and supers into dash would be so silly. I know Capcom can’t do something so ridiculous, though.

I’ll try to get my hands on umvc3 again tomorrow, and test this stuff out… Wish me luck in pools! (Although I fully expect to get destroyed by some wesker/dante/some other teleporter… I hate those guys lol)

I’m thinking the airdash cancels will open up more ways to get cubes midscreen than before which will be great if its true. It would be awesome if modoks airdashes did not cancel flight mode since that would really open up his pressure and combos with his low height restriction on airdashes…but I doubt that is changing as well cause it would be kind of busted how things are right now.

the change sounds exactly like this to me. maybe thats just wishful thinking though.

From what I tested, I’m pretty sure airdash still cancels flight mode.

So no news on a new move? Really Capcom? The guy has a doomsday chair and you can’t think of any new moves? It doesn’t even have to be good, I just want a fun new trick to play with :(.

Did any of you tried a backwards DP at EVO?

That would suck… If he’s still in flight mode after airdashs that sounds like it could open up a whole different ballpark with brand-new fresh combos. Imagine, fly / unfly combos… *with Modok *:rofl: like his buddies magneto, sent, storm, etc. Dreaming doesn’t hurt, but imagine Modok pulling something off something similiar with tons of M’s and H’s or even cubes tossed inbetween. Now that would be friggin EPIC :clapdos:

The MODOK change is a bit disappointing so far, I was expecting a lot more than that. Unless it allows him to somehow chain together good combos that weren’t possible before.

looks like this is still in as seen in the video here at 5:37. Also, this is the first clip i have seen where not only does modok avoid getting slaughtered…but kinda starts to style in ultimate albeit with vanilla technology. I hope there is more to what we have found out so far. Anyways, anyone know who the player is? he has a pretty good modok and almost plays my team. also, I love how the cameraman has never seen a good modok before. It must have been great showing people what modok can bring to the table

Could you guys plz elaborate on this bug? I’ve never seen it myself.

This is not exclusive to Modok, but with his low airdash pressure it comes up randomly at times. After working hard trapping some of the mobile characters in the corner, it is a huge pain to have this happen and basically reset the match. I’m guessing it has something to do with the slide after landing from an airdash. I should have showed the difference between a normal pushblock and this super unfair pushblock in the video…but I just wanted to throw it together quickly. I also edited my previous post to embed the umvc3 video instead of link for those that didnt find the link in the text.

Reminds me of a vid someone posted a while ago in this forum… showing the opposite? Something about flight activation negating pushback completely? I tried to find it but I can’t… :frowning:

It works for the most part when you are attacking with say little feet, cancel into air dash when pushblock is about to happen. Its kind of finicky tho.
