This thread is already ruined by people asking questions and putting in their opinion pieces rather than adding possible/confirmed changes.
This got me thinking about the safe TAC people like zero had. That means he can go for it risk free since he can combo into sogenmu and that means that you either eat it and lose meter or he still gets the wall bounce for a combo. I also believe chun and viper had setups where if you guess the tac they get a mixup situation.
I’m loving the new stuff ryu is getting. It’s nice that he finally gets some new moves after all these games he’s been in.
That will get cleaned up by a mod eventually any way.
It doesn’t cost a meter, it just burns one of your opponent’s meters. People are complaining because TACs have always been a bad mechanic. People don’t WANT to see them in high level play, let alone anywhere else. They’re fucking random and a terrible aspect of this game.
Phoenix doesn’t need anymore nerfs than what she’s been given in this build.
I’d like to see it on stream - I missed that part!
They do. Robo either knows nothing about the mechanics involved, or something was changed.
I’m hoping for some change in the controls somewhat. I heard that Arthur didn’t have a ground dash or an air dash. An airdash I can understand, but a character without a grand dash? It’s not like he has flash-like walk speed so that it would balance out. For the couple of days that I had played the game C. Viper’s EX moves didn’t seem to warrant a whole meter especially the hammer and bk.
A video just came out about Seth saying that XF damage has been normalized across the board. Meaning that everyone will roughly get the same damage boost from XF. People have been saying that it’s more so scaling differences as to why characters like Wolverine can do ABC BBC during XF and kill you but hopefully this in general will make it so XF’s 2 and 3 are a bit less stupid. XF1 having a 3 second time nerf helps also. XF1 shouldn’t allow you to run through 2 characters. That’s not even a come back mechanic…that just keeps the other team from getting started.
He mentioned that being able to XF in the air will create some nifty new combos and make certain situations that were hard to escape more escapable. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you use X23) with X23 plus Dante if she kills somebody with a couple combos the next character is probably still dead unless they’re Sentinel or Morrigan because that Dirt Nap plus Jam Session trap in the corner to XF1 kill will still be inescapable by 95 percent of the cast. It’s basically XF1 Wolvie style shit that requires a bit more work but pretty much guarantees the second character doesn’t get to play in the match.
EX seismo hammer pretty much HAS to cost a meter IMO because very few characters in this game have access to real reversals to get shit off of them like SFIV. Most characters pretty much have XF guard cancel (which you can use only once and can be baited) or advance guard (which has a ton of ways to be got around and severely punished or die from) to save themselves from death. For one measly meter you get access to a version of EX seismo that’s basically better than the SFIV version in a game where most people don’t even have reversals and all block strings are tight and nearly infinite without advance guard. Starts up in 6 frames, invincible for 15 frames and unlike SFIV it’s jump cancellable on whiff so you’re safe on a whiff.
I don’t see how the meter removing TAC makes it any less of a RPS, even for meter hungry teams. If I think youre gonna always hit left/right, then my combos will always complete. Just like meter hungry teams now can’t just go down every time. Nothing broken about the mindgame, just new. I think it’s a cool idea!
PS. If Task got a buff and no nerfs, Im a happy camper. Would it be too much to ask for a little life padding for Ammy? hehe
Flame Carpet hitting OTG, not regular.
I posted an example(Not great) in the Dorm forums that seems to contest what has been stated, although there does seem to be a change.
Seriously, this.
“Hey guys, I think insert my favorite character didn’t deserve those nerfs and/or needs this gigantic-ass list of buffs, and insert character I hate needs to be nerfed.”
^If this summarizes what you’re about to post, just stop.
He’s in the FF Spider-Man costume.
If you think about it, air XF helps characters who have better properties in the air (like say Megs, X-23, Thor, Modok, hell you see even Hawkeye) where as most of the current better characters benefit from the ground. This kinda gives everyone a chance anywhere to comeback, and with XF getting a time nerf seems legit to me.
Anywho, small and pointless: If assist 1 dies now…can we press either assist button to call assist 2? I still hate the current assist mechanic.
So if I am correct we have yet to see any changes for Thor, Jill, Modok, Shuma, Sent, Hulk, Cap, Chun (supposedly has a new move I havent seen it tho :(), Morrigan, Hsien, Skrull, and Trish
Does anyone know if Magneto still has all his combos? I just learned how to use him and i heard his dashes got slower. How is ryu’s charge attacks a buff? How different is he? I hope this game is more combo centric even with the removal of some things like dhc glitch. Dark Phoenix got any nerfs? I saw part of a vid but it didn’t show much.
No way, needs to stay level 3. It was either on stream or in one of the reveal videos but Strider’s combo with the cheerios did over 50% damage to HAGGAR. Haggar is one of the top tier Health guys so it tells you something if you can kill a lesser character with 1 combo from it, especailly since Strider can create his own mixups/crossups/unblockables with those. Also if I saw it right I think he still gains meter when you hit them with your sword (not from the balls) so if you assist properly you may even be able to extend it to a 2nd level 3 if you had 5 bars when you used it.
I was told they made it so that TAC’s work differently. I was misinformed. There’s a lot of speculation floating around being posited as fact. I’m gonna ignore it for now.
not 100% sure on this, but meter gain while getting hit seems to have been toned down (great news if its true)
regarding the side TAC vs phoenix… i don’t think you can just simply mash side TAC because of how strong that meter gain from down TAC is if you know it will work 100%. a full meter for snapback/mix up is great against phoenix teams, not to mention that down TAC has good combo extension opportunities for most teams because of the ground bounce
Does anybody know if Strider still has his double jump? I didn’t see anyone on the stream attempt any double jump combos. Also, out of curiousity did Ammy get any nerfs?
@Zensouken: Self-derp. Thanks for the correction. Anyway, I recall seeing C. Viper performing an EX uppercut that looked similar to Captain Corridor.
I think Viper’s EX moves actually only take 1/4th meter now. I’d have to check the stream again, but there was a match during last night’s livestream that had Hawkeye on point and C. Viper somewhere on the team. The team had a little black line across their meter that looked to be about 1/4th the way across. Sadly the player was horrible and I don’t think they even used an EX move, but it was the only time I saw the little black line across the meter, and I see no other reason for it.
i hope they gut the female “commentator.”
