UMvC3 List of C. Viper Changes

Hm, did they say they changed something about the seismos? Because I don’t remember hearing anything.

no, but a few changes are usually left out of the change log… I’m doing seismos non-stop even on the 2p side where on Vanilla I can usually only do 5 in a row until a thunder knuckle comes out… It really feels like they gave the seismo command priority over the thunder knuckle

Aw man… Now my fear of her being dummed down is even more likely. -_-

It does feels like Viper is easier in this game.

SAD FACE.

yeah as much as i like not having that random tk come out, having her dummed down is worse

Confirmed

Just got Ultimate 2 hours ago, I suck at rapid seismos and I play on pad. most i can get is about 3 or 4 before screwing up. After reading your post went into the lab and I’m positive they made it easier somehow, I’m now doing 8-10 seismos without screwing up! It’s not scrub friendly easy but it’s definitely a step down from vanilla. Maybe it’s just me, anyone else find rapid seismos easier?

NOOOOOOOOO>:(
Alert to all Viper agents, we have a system breach.

ok, just keep it a secret, lol.

I can speak on behalf of Viper/ Frank/ Doom.

Viper Synergy : 8.5/10
Team Synergy: 8/10
Comboability: 6.5/10
Practicality: 7/10
DHC: 7.5/10
THC: 5/10
Versatility: 9/10

I like this team, but I was one of the people who ran Viper (Seismo) Akuma (Tatsu) Doom (Beam) back in vanilla, and had alot of fun with it. A basic viper heavy team in this UMVC3 carnation now that Akuma is dead and buried, I find alot of success in the reset game using Seismo, Cart, Beam instead. Viper can use Franks assist for nearly everything, it has alot of hits so hitsun and damage scaling are some setbacks, but its easily one of the best direct assists in the game despite having limited vertical range, and invulnerability.

I think this will be my first team in this game, and I intend to really test it out at a tournament I’ve got coming up on Thursday. Keep in mind though, cannot use Franks assist to relaunch with ease, most times using meter is more practical, but Frank’s assist with Viper’s resets are simply amazing.

And Frank an Doom make good buddies, not as good as Dante and Frank though.

I thought it was just me…but sounds like everybody is having easier time controlling viper

I’m not convinced there’s been any changes to Seismo unless someone explains the “How” or “Why”, because they essentially feel the same to me.

edit

And people are seriously overlooking Cyclops Beam. She just got a major buff to her zoning. It can be TK Cancelled from Seismo chains.

Dunno if Tiger Knee is the right phrase for this, since there’s no motion involved. Jump cancel would be more appropriate.

haha, yeah, i kinda just do the motion out of habit, lol.

“Jump Cancel Cancel” or JCC is what you’re looking for.

I think Seismo as an otg pops them up higher…I use to use task diagonal arrows then sic into ground BK but that’s not working anymore, I have to do the air BK to get it to connect and even when that does work hitting the s after is pretty hard. Can someone help confirm that?

I’ve swapped hawkeye potion arrow assist for tasks and i can relaunch either way with out problems

Are you sure that isn’t just the assist nerf. Remember, assists are affected by Proration now.

oh yeah that actually makes more sense, silly me :stuck_out_tongue:

viper beam is great at full screen, mid-screen can be very risky

Got Ultimate today. Yaaay.

I’ve been trying both of our theories out. Slash can, infact, hit-confirm off of heavy seismo, but it won’t always. On hulk, I had to have him standing dead-center for where the seismo comes out, which means that on most characters, they’ll have to be hit by the closer side of HSeismo in order for it to work. Still great, except, unfortunately, the slash’s hitbox is very, very narrow… The timing required to get this right is tight. It’s definitely doable, especially with practice, but it’s tight enough that rapid seismo > call assist > keep rapid seismoing will probably be unlikely to land. That means you’d have to call the assist, and then time a single seismo out. Between the slowness of the assist and your need to position yourself/wait for timing, the set up will be visible from a mile away.

As for my theory, I’m not completely sure, since it’s more an in-practice thing, and I’ve only been in training mode so far. I’ve confirmed that Vajra can be used in the traditional seismo OTG > assist > BK relaunch, but the timing is pretty tight (similar to the seismo/slash hit-confirm, actually), but definitely not so hard that it won’t become practical with a little bit of practice.

I can also confirm this, but thankfully, it’s still not derp, and is difficult enough that no one is likely to start jumping online with 2 day vipers and seismo spamming. I’m still seeing an influx of Viper users in the near future though. =[
