See, it’s not so much about her becoming derp, so much as it is her becoming more “worth it”. Most people don’t bother with Viper because she’s “not worth” the extra effort. With the new buffs giving benefits that don’t require the levels of execution she is known for to take advantage of them, I’m just seeing an increase in the number of people who play her.
So whats the overall consensus on magneto w/viper for UMVC3? Based on what i’ve been reading that EM is no longer as viable as it was in vanilla. So what are the better options out there?
Iron Fist’s Rising Fang will leave them 20 years juggling, so it’s a pretty good option to extend her combos and also to help getting in, DHC in the end to Spirit of the Dragon and you will do more than 1kk damage.
Em disruptor nerf is fucking gay, no more relaunches =[
Yeah, but you can relaunch with wallbounce assists
Or any assist that causes more stun. A one hit assist just won’t cut it anymore because of how assists were changed in Ultimate.
I’m a big fan of Trish/Viper pairing. Can Trish’s low voltage still be used for Viper relaunch? Or has it been given the same treatment as disruptor?
It has the same treatment (all assists do), but that doesn’t mean it won’t work, you’ll have to try.
yeah im just upset viper/mag/dante doesnt work as well now.
I’m actually liking vergil alot so i’m trying to main viper/vergil/dante, and i need to find a proper assist to get relaunches with viper to build meter since vergil will be using most of the meter for sword gimmicks. None of vergil’s assists work well though so im in a hard place right now =\
mags was sooo fun, i’ll still try him out with my original team viper, mags, doom. But i like what i’m hearing about Frank so i gotta test viper, frank & Doom and see how they mesh together.
It’s really starting to look like Vipes/Dante/Strider for me right now. I need to drop mags since he’s just not gonna work out anymore. Strider will, hopefully, be able to make it so I can relaunch. The hard knockdown means, assuming I have enough time, I should be able to hit the opponent with a BK after seismo > Strider assist, and he could by my new 1 hit relaunch assist. Not to mention that hard knockdown in general means free Vipes/Dante combo. =D
Oh, and strider sounds like an amazing anchor. I mean, sure, he sounds good on point with assists, but between his crazy set-ups, awesome speed, Uroboros and shit damage, the character just seems like he was made to destroy whole teams in level3 XF.
Viper/Dante/Strider has been my pick for top Viper team, though I believe with that config you’ll want Strider’s slash assist not the dive kick. Hawkeye is all a strong contender for new BFF.
Elaborate. Do you think it won’t work as a relaunch? Or does it have more to do with that danger-zone, or perhaps zoning?
Yes, but the main reason is that you already have Jam Session to cover that space. The slash covers a different spot and it wall bounces, so it will allow long range Seismo confirms and relaunches. Basically, there’s no reason to have two assists doing the same thing, so it;s stronger two have two different options.
I’ll be sticking with the dive kick assist for the Viper/Doom/Strider, simply because Dooms isn’t fast at cover that space and it’s more vertical where Strider can go so far sideways. As well, it’s best if Strider hits them in the air so Seismos covering the ground forcing them to jump will be nice, even if the seismo hits they’ll be forced down for easy chase.
If that’s the case, I think it would be better to switch Doom’s assist to Beam or Rocks.
Agreed.
I can’t say I really know his assists to well, so I decided to take a look at striders assists again in Maximilion’s Strider assist me to see if I could agree or not. Specific time:
After reviewing this, I can understand where you’re coming from, but I’ll have to disagree. Gram(sp?) slash does cover a different area, and the ground bounce is nice, but if Vahajra(sp?) can be used for a relaunch, I think it might be a lot better. Slash comes out slow and has very little invulnerability. While hit-confirm medium seismos would be nice (I don’t think it has the range to hit-confirm H Seismos), the slowness and lack of invulnerability means that you’ll have to commit a lot more into trying this. If you could do it from full screen with H seismo, it’d d be awesome, but against many faster characters/characters with longer range attacks, I don’t see it be very safe/practical, and considering strider’s health, I’d be afraid to do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if FADC > HBK could hit-confirm medium seismo anyways… Hm, we should try that!
Anyways, I think Vahajra will make an amazing tool for his seismo game. The only thing I’m worried about it consistently using it for a relaunch in combos. If it can’t do that, then we’ll have to stick to your plan.
I’m not sure what you mean by this. Are you talking about Vahajra’s anti-air properties? Because vahajra tracks, so the “area” it covers is irrelevent, because it covers everywhere. That being said, the fact that it is a teleport and not some straight-forward attack like the others makes it much safer. It could be well used to keep the opponent at bay during seismo zoning. The large stun it does on grounded opponents, the hard-knockdown it does on aerial opponents, and he speed with which it comes out all make it a very, very good thing for Viper’s keep-away. Not to mention that between it’s low vulnerability frames and you covering him with seismos, it’s probably very safe.
Besides that, it can be used as an anti-air in a completely different way than Jam Session. JS is limited to directly in front of you. This is great, especially since it covers the area you need covered, but if they block, the situation is not really reset, so much as they don’t have much off an advantage and you’re at medium-close range. Vahajra could shutdown a super jump WAY sooner, and reset the long-ranged zoning game.
Quite frankly, I’m getting very hyped about this team.
When the one thing a character needs is to cover a certain area of the map and hold people down from lingering in there, why not have it covered 2 totally different and smexy ways? Not like Viper needs much, she’s a beast.
Because if you have it covered with one, then why not get the other assist do do something else useful.
Doing two things is better than doing one thing twice over.
just got Ultimate… I am almost sure that rapid seismos are easier
