Also, with regards to Strider, I’m fairly sure we will be able to FADC relaunch after the Vaijra, but keep in mind that Viper can likely also make use of his wallbouncing slash assist. This will likely be the go to if you already got someone to cover that blind spot (Dante, Hawkeye, Doom).
There is a video of Frank getting to level 5 in one combo with Dark Hole and Jam Session assists. That seems like an incredibly powerful team with Frank on point, Dante #2, and DOrmammu as anchor
Ah, so it’s not so much that Dante isn’t good anymore, so much as you have other options now and don’t even want to play Dante that much, yes? Fair enough.
Yeah, I figured it would just be different. To be quite honest, Viper/Dante/Strider sounds like an epic technical team, and that’s really what I’ve been going for. Besides, that hard knockdown is going to be fucking amazing for Viper.
Not that I don’t want to play Dante, I just want to see what I can do with the other options. We all know what Viper/Dante does already, I’m not gonna shun new tech simply because I already have tech.
I’ve got alot of new compositions to try out.
GhostRider/Viper/IronMan
Viper/Dante/Strider
Viper/Ghost/Strider
Viper/IronMan/Rocket
Frank/Viper/Dante
Viper/Hawkeye/Dante
Viper/Hawkeye/Strider
Viper/IronMan/Hawkee
Jill/Hawkeye/Viper
The list goes on.
Yea my Viper squads I want to try out are
Viper/Dante/Firebrand (This will be my day 1 team I focus on)
Viper/Dante/Vergil
Viper/Dante/Strange
Chris/Viper/Dormammu
Viper/Rocket Raccoon/Wesker
Viper/Zero/Strider
Strange/Viper/Dormammu
Iron Fists rising fang assist covers the space above and in front of viper very well so you can call it between seismo spams and it will knock anyone trying for a tri dash or jump in. This assist also causes a wallbounce which viper has no need for and gives her a TON of time to dash up and start a combo and can be used very easily for relaunch. Only bad part is if you don’t have an assist to help iron fist out you are going to have a rough time once viper is dead.
Iron Fist’s Kick Assist (is that rising fang?) doesn’t go high enough to cover the blind spot though.
Yeah Rising Fang is the kick that goes up and forward, and from the matches i’ve played it works well for hitting people and is one of the fastest in terms of activation and recovery so it becomes almost spammable and is relatively safe.
Don’t get me wrong, it looks really good with Viper, but it isn’t really a candidate for a Jam Session Replacement because it doesn’t do jack about superjump height, which is where the blind spot it and can bite Viper in the ass.
I see it mainly as a replacement for Unibeam (on my team), Disruptor, Task Arrows, or the like. The big question is; is having IF on your team worth it? Given that Haggar was worth it and IF looks much better than Haggar… I say yes.
I’m actually the opposite of Ve. Because I didn’t utilize Dante in Vanilla, I’m actually going to really try and have him as anchor on My Zero/Viper team. His Jam session assist is arguably the best assist in the game for Viper and Zero respectively. Though like some of you were mentioning they are now other options to use besides Dante, in my case I’ll be using Rocket Raccoon as a secondary anchor.
Unfortunately I’m not a very patient sort of guy, I want to find what works quickly and use it effectively. Which is why I haven’t learned no more than 5 characters in Vanilla(Zero, Viper, Taskmaster, Skrull, Sentinel) I would say 7 but everyone knows how to play Wolverine and Akuma. I’ve tried and dropped many characters out of pure frustration while trying to learn them i.e(Ironman, Magneto, Chun-li, Dante, Doom) Don’t ask me how I ended up learning Viper, all I know is we sorta of just clicked. Now with the release of a new game and some very appealing buffs(Spencer/Chun), I can try to learn a couple of those old characters again as well as some of the new additions. So here’s hoping I won’t give up again.
Zero/Viper/Dante
Zero/Viper/RR
Zero/Viper/Doom
Zero/Viper/ Ghostrider
Zero/Viper/Taskmaster
Zero/Viper/ Chun-li(Team is seems really unorthodox, might just create a separate chun team altogether)
Zero/Viper/Sentinel
Zero/Viper/Spencer(Horrible DHC synergy)
FlyingVe: What are your ideas for that Jill/Hawkeye/Viper team? If you don’t mind sharing
I traded my MVC3 in today and am already feeling some withdrawal with all these new videos. Time to go murder myself.
Actually, I’ve got alot of plans for Jill Hawkeye, I think that Jill can make very good use of all three of his assists depending on the specifics of how they work. I’ll be able to explain better and give more details my copy of the game finally gets here.
Are you using the jam session assist to pin those who super jump away or towards you. Yes the rising fang doesn’t go high enough to stop a trish or phoenix or zero who will be zoning up there, but it does cover people jumping in on you. I do agree that jam session is definitely top 3 assists for viper, i just don’t like dante anymore…
Both, or just in strings to give me a free mixup. Call Dante, cancel into M TK, Feint, go nuts.
Please do! I would love to hear your thoughts now that you got a little session in! Looking forward to hear your thoughts.
How do people feel about C.Viper/Firebrand? Really wanna know how good they go together.
Is anyone else worried about some of these buffs? Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to main a stronger character, but I feel like the buffs are being applied in a way that shrinks the lower side of her learning curve. I don’t like that the places she’s being improved are in places that anyone with half decent execution can take advantage of. I guess I’m just worried that she’ll start being used more heavily… I sorta take pride in maining a strong, versatile character that is not played often due to the high execution required.
She’s still Viper, not really derp/scrub friendly even with an optic blast and easier feints
I wouldn’t worry about her being over-used. Besides, have you seen the new and improved ultimate Wesker? He’s probably the best mix of being strong and user friendly yet versatile
There will be too may derp characters in the game for her to be overused.
Wesker yeah, Zero and Trish still, then people like PW XFPhoenixing it out and even people like Ghost look simple but stupidly effective. Some of the other ‘oldies’ might turn out beasts too, with Hulks armor being fairly user friendly and Dorm/others still fairly in place and always effective.
Don’t worry about overuse just yet.
That Strider assist looked nice from the beginning and I like it more the more I think about it. Covers part of the blink spot, similar to Doom covering it 'kind of’
Might run the Viper/Doom/Strider for a while before anything even. We’ll see, but the options have definitely opened up significantly with almost 1/3 more characters, and most fairly unique.
