UMvC3 List of C. Viper Changes

Im pretty set on Viper/Hawkeye. Im not sure about Vergil yet but he looks fun to play. I might have to make a separate team for him but Im fine with that. I guess I can use Viper(Thunder Knuckle)/Hawkeye(Posion Arrow)/Dr. Doom(Hidden Missiles). This seems like a pretty strong team

Does Hawkeye’s arrow rain assist OTG?

I know the hyper does, but I can’t be sure the special does. I’d imagine it would, considering the angled/diagonal air ones do.

No. Only his Poison Arrow assist can OTG.

New TK feints will be busted. You can hit at least C xx 236B~S, C xx 236B~S, C xx 236B xx 236S and it does absolutely massive damage.

At least from my testing tonight.

Dude that sounds so awesome. btw was it still possible to do the same combos you did before and how is Viper’s dmg output. Also was ex. Thunderknuckle to box loop still possible.

Has it been explained why Viper got that laser move? No one has used it in most gameplay vids/tournaments and I dont see what it adds to her gameplay. I mean it looks cool and all but it seems like Capcom added it just to add it.

@Chrisis: Jesus, that sounds ridiculous. I know a 1-frame link was pretty tight in the past, but opening that window up too much can really bust her loose.

What about Viper/Dante/Vergil? That team is gonna have some swag.

Well if thats the case I wonder if they’re going to kill her HSD for the use of TK hits and feints. Before there was little to none probably because of the execution barrier and if you get it then good for you. There has to be some trade off… or we’ll just have more brokenness to work with.

@chrisis: Did you notice a difference on her HTK feint tech time or infinite? Also in vanilla Viper is limited to 2 hits before her L, M, TK feint, bascially if you start a combo with a marvel series chain or a air dash jump in with a full marvel chain (or even two additional hits) then do a 1 framer, it’s pointless to attempt another 1 frame feint because after the second feint it’s impossible to follow up with ANY normal you basically have to burn meter on ex seismo or ex TK, is that still the case? She actually has some stupid rules involving her TK feints such as if you do any combos involving regular fients then attempt a 1 framer, follow ups were impossible. If the same rules apply in ultimate then TK feints will simply be easier and not truly busted IMO.

I was able to kill current health Wesker in 1 hit and be just shy of gauge neutral without trying exceptionally hard, for how badly the hit stun scaling hits people like Dante it doesn’t seem to actually do its job against Viper at all. >.>

I could still hit: 9, 3A+C, S -/, 2B, C xx 623Axx 28, 6A+B, C xx 214A~S, C, S -/, C, S /-, C, 9, B, C, S,-/ (summon shippuga this has slightly tighter timing since shippuga no longer essentially soft knock downs but still works fine.) 2147A -/, S /-\ C, 9, C, S -/ (summon Dante) 623A xx 62369A xx 62369A (K-beast said he couldn’t hit 3 but I had no issue so I dunno if the timing is slightly different or something.) 2147C, 214A+B DHC into Dante or Zero.

Her HSD seems practically uneffected for no intelligent reason. She’s just going to get free meter and damage and one of the most efficient starters for combos in the game that also happens to hit confirm. Cause she totally needed a buff right? D:

Unfortunately I never had the infinite stable, but in the change log they told us that fierce thunder knuckle is effected by hit stun scaling now which would destroy the infinite. You do not need to burn meter to follow up a feint, you can do it unassisted and I know for sure you can do C xx 236B~S, C xx 623A as a more optimized combo starter. I unfortunately don’t know about these stupid rules, would you care to go into more detail?

Its probably because Vipers hit stun stayed relatively unchanged. I remember in the change blog a bunch of Dante’s moves got shorter hit stun time.

Also, someone who played might be able to verify, but it seems pushback is slightly greater across the board. No a big deal, but it could alter some hitconfirms a bit, especially with the iffy range on Viper’s 5C.

I was actually passing through or over my enemies a lot so whatever the case she’ll be able to cope.

God, I hope Capcom never reads the Viper forum. Keep thinking Viper’s weak Capcom, We need more buffs!

@chrisis: The change log makes me think her infinite might just be a “loop” now, oh well I’ll test when I get my hands on the game, thanks anyhow. The 1 frame TK feint rules in vanilla I found were as follows: requires a “2 hit limited” chain (or less) in order to get 2, 1 frame L, or M feint TK’s in a combo, if you incorporate more then 2 TK feints (just the feints, not the cancel hit confirm feints) in your combo prior to a 1 frame TK feint you will not get any follow ups. There’s a few more rules I’m forgetting about but I can’t test them (my copy of vanilla broke and I’m not getting another copy until Ultimate). So although it’s possible to hit confirm in 2 hits it’s more practical to get a marvel series chain because of her 4 frame rapid fire L, and 5 frame standing low hitting L.

Edit: How good is her laser, and how much shorter are her L and M TK’s? Do they “feel” faster? If they are active sooner this could be a huge buff, seeing how TK goes through beams and zeros LvL 3 buster etc. Also…is akumas tatsu nerfed? Please say yes, this fucker needed a tatsu nerf!
