UMvC3 List of C. Viper Changes

I’m actually surprised at how many of the new characters appear to have assists that Viper would want (Bold is the one I think is better for Viper).

Ghost: HellSpike, WallBounce Whip
Strider: DiveKick, Wall Bounce Slash
Iron Fist: Kick of the Gods
Rocket Raccoon: Log Trap
Strange: Eye of Agamatto, Tracking Discs
Hawkeye: Arrow Rain, Poison Shot
Nova: DiveKick, Centurion Rush

Yup all look great. It all just comes down to how many uses Viper will have for each assist. Which is something she lacks with about everyone in Vanilla except for maybe 4-5 characters.

The horizontal arrows from Hawkeye seems like it will be good too. I’m looking forward to the log trap most of all I think. X_X

I actually wasn’t sure what his third assist was. I might still take poison. The idea of using the poison early in one of Viper’s long ass combos just seems evil. Doesn’t it do like 160,000 damage total or something?

Indeed, I think there’ll be more space control utility in the others and Viper’s not hurting for more damage normally IMO.

Very good point, but that why I like the arrow rain the best.

An interesting dynamic that’s showing up is that we are getting alot of assist to cover that blind spot, where before it was really just Dante and maybe Doom. Could open up alot of different team configurations.

Also, I jst remembered Nova’s Aegis Reflector assist, that thing has the potential for some really nasty stuff.

I could see poison arrow opening up possibilities for people to make mistakes to try and get as much damage in as they can before there character dies. So basically free EX.seismos and what not.

A very true and valid point for Vanilla, but this may very well not be the case in Ultimate. Something to keep in mind, we shouldn’t shrugging off extra damage as superfluous just yet.

You know that vergils assists may seem helpful to Viper. I just saw the assist me video. Im thinking his horizontal slash and the judgement cut might be good.

Judgement cut seems like a mediocre assist to me, And while his Rapid Slash assist is definitely better, It’s usefulness with Viper is small. They definitely created Vergil to be the main point character in UMvC3.

Speaking of Vergil, I really want to try Box loop->Burstime->Devil Trigger->Teleport-> Into additional damage or Reset. And since Vergil’s teleport tracks, there will be few options for most characters to escape the reset, besides teching.

As for Ghost rider, I really want to try LMH->M.TK->Call Ghost Rider->EX.TK->Wall Bounce hits->TK.BK->HS->J.HHS->Call Zero(Shippuga)->L.Seismo->M.TK->Burst Time->Rekohha

Hopefully these work, I doubt the hit stun on the second combo will let me finish the combo.

hmm maybe its too soon to call it but vergil looks like a hybrid of wesker/dante. Im thinking Viper/Hawkeye/Vergil. I like scatter shot for Hawkeye but I might just go for poison arrow for hawkeye. I saw in one of max’s match video that when the character was in the corner the scatter shot assist missed

I will be using that same team but diff order…Vip/verg/hawk. I am pretty sure that DT’d assists will work wonders for viper. It may seem like meter would prevent a viper/Vergil team, but all u need is to get Vergil into DT and back off screen so that the point char can build meter while benefitting from the powered up assist. That squad is going to get nasty

I just don’t see Viper/Vergil guys. The safe DHC option is nice, but alot of characters give you that, and many have better assists for Viper.

DT’d judgement cut looks like it is pretty hard to avoid…to me the powered up assists from Vergil are perfect for viper. The problem is getting him safely into DT and onto the bench. With Verg on point stinger + BK canceled into teleport could be a problem. Stinger + BK canceled to rapid slash xx DT, low attack might get ugly as well. IDK in theory it seems like there is some synergy there

Judgement cut (it’s the slashy orb thing right) shuts doen a small portion of the screen. In essence it a poor man’s seismo, and Viper already has Seismo.

Investing alot of time and resources into a powered up assist wasn’t worth it in Vanilla, and nothing I’ve seen suggests it will be any different in Ultimate.

From the manly men in PT fighters:

  • Can’t cancel EX Moves into any special moves confirmed.
  • Optic Blast-like move doesn’t seem to work in combos, and during a durability test with Zero’s Buster her blast went right over it. Could have uses, but it seems doubtful.
  • The rest of her tools seemed intact.

Pretty much exactly what everyone expected. Discuss.

My theory that Optic Blast is Medium durability is confirmed, and it has more medium points than the Z-Buster.

Wait, no EX>EX? Tell me you weren’t specific enough. D=

Well, I guess it wouldn’t really be a huge loss. It just means that we have to be even more careful about when we decide to throw out an EX.TK.

To be honest, EX>EX was dumb. It Means that we can’t always make everything safe with meter, which is probably a healthy change for the over-all game.

From what I’ve seen the DT’d judgement cut controls a significant amount of space…perhaps moreso than dorms black hole assist

While I mostly agree with your second point, i think that u r forgetting that the powered up assists is only part of the idea and maybe even just an added bonus. Gaining lots of meter for Vergil to use in an already powered up state with full timer is the real goal at least for me. And I agree forcing the situation is not ideal…it needs to happen as part of the natural flow of the battle. For example; oh shit he about to do mighty swing, I got two bars…activate DT DHC to Vip/hawk. Now when vergil returns he should have multiple bars in DT
