UMvC3 List of C. Viper Changes

Basically, if you can work these consistently into her game (and I think you can), this goes a long way to counter the meter gain nerf that everyone experienced.

this is gonna be fun

I’d just like to remind everybody that capcom makes a point of leaving a few of each characters changes out of the logs because they think it’s fun for us to discover…

So keep you eyes peeled when we get the final game, we ain’t out of the woods yet.

What!? Why? Using TK.M is now my main way of connecting my Burst Time’s. Stupid nerf is stupid, as if her Thunder Knuckle range was ever the real issue here :bluu:

Shoutouts to removing the infinite though, less infinites in my Marvel equals a better game overall. It’s not like anyone actually used it anyway…This also might make her reset game a little better…maybe

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was exactly the reason they did it. They probably don’t want her to be able to combo so easily outside of the corner. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was their justification for making her so broken otherwise. <.<;

Besides, you can Dash > M.TK in situations where it wouldn’t usually make it by itself in vanilla, so you could probably do the same in ultimate. The timing is a little tighter, but it works.

you can always DHC after the first hit if the incoming hyper will connect and you have the bars to spare, though i usually only do that if i fear that the kicks will whiff (eg not in corner for whatever reason).

Changes don’t affect me too much. But, I’m want try out her Optic Blast, and see if it changes her game little. Viper and Strange can hold it down with that balls of light assists to lockdown the opponent, and hit them with focus attack. Viper is still great character regardless.

Zero/ Viper/ ?Rocket Raccoon?

RR is looking too good to pass up guys, RR&Viper any thoughts?

By the way…
GG Capcom, you finally did something that was beyond what was expected. Rocket Raccoon is so well done, and is the most polished character out of all the new characters IMO. well I tip my hat to you guys on an awesome job, well done.

We don’t know RR’s assists, so we can’t really talk too much about Viper synergy yet. But if he has any of his traps as assists, I could see some serious shenanigans.

If the TK feint window is large enough that means we have a ridiculous projectile prediction punisher for controlling space and potentially netting free kills. This is very exciting.

We know two of the three:

Double fireball cannon
Log trap

I’m thinking of running Zero/Rocket/Viper or Chris/Rocket/Viper

An unrelated to Viper, but sick team would be Team Rocket: Chris/Rocket/Doom.

My main concern with Zero/Rocket/Viper is whether or not Zero can depend heavily on log. It seems more of a GTFO assist than something to start combos off of. Rocket’s double fireball cannon looks nice, but covers a horrible vertical range. Don’t know what his third is, but I can’t think of any other of his specials that would help.

The log trap actually looks really good for vipes, as it covers the spot above her seismos, and the wall bounce would easily confirm into a combo. So yeah, it’d be good for her zoning game, except she’d still have that blind-spot directly in front of her.

Not worried about Viper. I plan on running her last. More worried about the two-man game with Zero/RR.

I’m gonna focus on Zero/RR/Viper as my Ultimate team for now - with Zero/Doom/Viper or Chris/RR/Viper as backup options.

What makes you wanna run Viper as anchor? I’m not bashing, I’m just asking because I’m also running Zero/ Viper/ RR, but I’m having a hard time deciding who I should put where

I’m running it as a Phoenix team. Zero/RR as the core team with Viper coming in last. Mainly because it’s the only way I can really see Zero and Viper functioning on the same team. Viper has all the tools to thrive in a situation where she’s without an assist: focus attacks, invincible EX attacks for big bit confirms, etc.

Viper is certainly a better anchor than Zero I think, dunno about RR yet. RR seems like a point man, but at the same time, I can see the log assist being really good. Especially with Viper.

Yeah I was never considering playing Zero as anchor, that just doesn’t work for me. As for anchor I really like Viper for the same reasons CTG stated above. But after watching RR, he looks like a complete rushdown monster with just as many Defensive tools as Viper with has vast variety of traps. Also with lvl3 x-factor and his speed! I can only speculate that his speed is going to be ridiculous, as if it wasn’t ridiculous enough. Rocket Skate crossups along with traps and level 3 x-factor seem lethal.

Just my thoughts

Did a lot of thinking about it last night and I’m going back to my ensemble approach I used in MvC2. Back then I had four characters I used interchangeably based on matchup or however I felt at the time. It was Guile, Charlie, Cable and Ironman. It worked very well for me against a lot of really good tourney level players. They were all characters that worked well together in almost any configuration and it was just fun being able to change on fly because when it comes to teams I’m such a flip-flopper.

For UMvC3, my ensemble will be (hopefully) Zero, Viper, Doom, Chris and RR. I feel like with this combination of characters I can put together several max zoning, max rushdown, max mixup, or hybrid teams. Maybe one will emerge as my main team, but for now these are some combinations I have in mind:

Zero/Doom/Viper
Zero/RR/Viper
Chris/Viper/RR
RR/Viper/Doom

There are a couple others, but they don’t involve Viper.

I think RR could fit anywhere, but I wouldn’t save my XF for him.

Im considering these two teams as well. I just have two questions for your first team why is Chris on point. Wouldn’t his assist be more beneficial for Viper or is there something you can do with Viper assist and Chris. Also it seems RR would be better in the middle for your 2nd team because thats a team I was considering.

I want to replace Trish and so im thinking of either Rocket Raccoon, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, or Nemesis. Im leaning ore towards nemesis or hawkeye though but rocket raccoon looks ridiculously fun to play
