Oh are we doing this now? ok!
I play doom because I saw clockwork playing doom and I hopped on the bandwagon like a brainless streammonster.
I play akuma because I saw how cheap his assist was.
I play Magneto because he trolls kings of Spain.
I play Strider because when I be leaping off walls and shooting robotic tigers, I feel like bursting into "…ITS THE EYE OF THE TIGGGAAAA…"
I play shuma because. . . well. . . let’s not go there
Frank West is very similar to me. We are both photographers, laugh at the face of danger, have a clear head when situations seem bad, plus were both just normal people.
V.Joe cuz were both nerds… nuff said.
Another thing in most fighting games i always avoid using the “badass/cliche” characters…i dont know i always feel like a total tool picking those
I like playing characters that hit so hard you can see, hear, and feel the power, even more so when they don’t look like they can’t. It’s either that the character is so badass they ooze swag (there is literally no other way to describe it). If they fit the criteria, aren’t completely terrible, look good, and have a decent backstory (for a fighting game character), I play them and stay with them for pretty much forever.
The characters I play (or want to play in UMvC3):
Badass:
SFIV: Dudley (so classy)
MvC2: Cable, Doom, Blackheart
MvC3: Wesker, Dante, Firebrand
BB: Lambda-11 (posing in mid-air while swords cut you to pieces on the other side of the screen? Hell yea.)
Hits hard (and also badass):
SF (in general): Bison
MvC3: Spencer, Dormammu, Nova
Hits hard but look normal… somewhat.
SF (in general): Makoto (dat rage and dat punch)
BB: Makoto (this has an enormous list)
A long list of why I love Makoto Nanaya
[details=Spoiler]- She has a taunt, distortion and attacks similar to Dudley
- She has a distortion and astral similar to Makoto (from SF lol)
- She has Spencer’s Bionic Arm (albeit it’s a giant manifestation of her fist coming out of a portal cracking you in the jaw from full screen, still the same thing)
- She makes the >w< face during bursts and astrals.
- In her astral, she punches you rapidly (think Haggar’s fully mashed hyper) before uppercutting you to the moon and imprinting her fist on it. Then the moon shatters from the impact. (a.k.a the best astral in the game)
- She can parry.
- She used the Eye of Agamatto before Dr. Strange did (in a fighting game lol)
- She’s blunt and straightforward with IDGAF moments and strong dedication to her friends.
- She terrorized the game from the moment she came out (took a little while for the fear to build)
[]CS1: 50%-60% from anywhere using a parry loop.
[]CS2: Best character in the game, with corner carries consisting of her punching you from one side of the screen to the other before wall bouncing you multiple times.
Not only that, but all of this is packaged in thigh-highs, a top that shows gratuitous amounts of underboob, the mini-est of miniskirts… you know what just see for yourself.
Morrigan ain’t got nothing on this.
[/details]
…Did I mention she’s a squirrel girl? I’m legitimately surprised that Litchi was mentioned over this chick in that “sexualization of women in fighters” article that was recently on SRK. I mean seriously, her ass is pointed towards you. What she’s wearing can’t legally be considered “clothing” and I’m occasionally disgusted by it considering how nothing in the storyline indicated she was going to dress like a stripper. I love it and hate it at the same time.
So yea. she’s everything I love in multiple characters packaged into one barely-clothed squirrel girl. She’s got ran over by the nerf train (from S-Tier to like B/C… ouch) in the next BB game but the players in Japan still find ways to make her look godlike so I have faith.
That and I <3 Makoto.[/details]
…oh. I guess Ammy isn’t in any of those lists. Uhh, I act like her I guess? I generally stay silent in front of people I don’t know, I give people the clueless look a lot, I don’t give a fuck about anything, I like throwing paper and wailing on people with mirrors and prayer beads.
Yeah, lets go with that.
Dante is and will forever be my favourite videogame characters. Mainly because I came from a pretty strict Christian centric family and my mom always told me anything with “Devil” or “Demon” in it was automatically bad.
Then when I was in grade six I purchased my first Gaming Magazine where there was a preview of the upcoming game “Devil May Cry”. I was hesitant at first, but then my childhood curiosity got the best of me. I read the preview and soon fell in love with this white haired, cheesy badass Dante. Definitely love at first sight. When I finally got around to purchasing a PS2 you best believe DMC1 was one of the first games I got on it.
With such a backstory it’s actually pretty bad I don’t use Dante more in MvC3. I wish I had the skill to master such a great character. Oh well. Time to go back to the lab and get those Bold Cancels down.
All those reasons. All you needed to do to convince me was put the photo.
Hell, she’s the only reason I ever considered buying BlazBlue.
Bad news.
I bought BB because of her AND paid the $7.00 for the DLC (I guess I paid for Valk and Platinum too… $21… ugh). Still that $7… worth it. Curb-stomping people with S-Tier has never been sexier.
Of course, she’s much worse in the new BB… but that isn’t out yet and I’ll deal with one heartbreak at a time lol.
Uhhh…
Well I use characters for mostly looks. I use Strider because I watched my brother play the game when I was like 5.That and he’s not too mainstream with annoying fangirls such as the ones who are crazy for Dante,Vergil,or Wesker. We had Mvc1 by that time and I used him in that game as well as mvc2 and umvc3.
I used mainly Thor in vanilla because he’s my favorite Marvel character and Avenger next to Cap who is my 3rd favorite Avenger.Hawkeye is my 2nd fave. I love Hawkeye’s personality and I would LOVE to use him but I’m CURSED to do so,same with Iron man.In fact, most of the characters whom I love their personalities, I can’t even use at all. So as of now, my team is half of The Avengers with Strider thrown in.
Yeah The Avengers is my favorite Marvel comic collaboration get at me.
ooh moar lists! yay!
I play
Currently:
Nemesis: Big fan of Resident Evil 3, and this guy when you hit with him, you really feel the force behind his hits like he doesn’t talk or anything he just wants, you, dead, now, really serious business more serious than Vergil, true merciless beast.
Hawkeye: Consolation choice, Hawkeye’s assist was too good and he’s pretty good at keepaway and not bad at rushdown either.
Strider Hiryu: Its a combination of character loyalty (MvC2), his awesomeness, that vajra teleport and he wears a badass scarf.
Speaking of which I guess this would be a good time to break down the Good vs Bad in Marvel 3? I guess if you like a bad guy’s personality…that makes you bad?

I had never heard of Trish, Dante, Vergil, or the Devil May Cry series before MVC3… since I only play RTS, MMOs and FGs.
Also, I thought Wesker was from DMC for the first few weeks of MVC
I certainly don’t.
I often use characters based on me liking their looks or not, or their moves, or their voice.
It’s been that way for Blanka in SF2, Siegfried in Soul Calibur, Shoma and Tiffany in Rivals Schools, Lei fang in DOA, Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat, Nu in Blazlblue, and Felicia in whichever Capcom game she appears in.
My personality is nowhere close to any of them
Ghost Rider’s a good guy. Firebrand’s a good guy (Despite what this game would have you believe). Magneto flip-flops between bad and neutral, depending on the writer. Akuma is neutral.
Fixed for you
Didn’t he blow up a random submarine because it was in his way or something?
I like She-Hulk because first of all, she’s just having fun. She likes fucking around and is never really serious, just like me when I play this stuff. Compare this to a guy like Wesker: hes always super serious, like he hasnt partied in years. She hulk would just come and fucking pound on him, then laugh and walk away and go maybe sleep with some superhero. I also love the simple awesomeness of her powers… she’s basically invincible, super agile, and according to her wiki page, has near-Thor strength (keep in mind that Thor is supposedly the only man strong enough to wield his hammer). She just fucking hits these guys so hard. Oh, and she’s pretty sexy too. (sideboob on clothesline lol)
I use She-Hulk, Taskmaster and Dormammu. For those who have played D&D, I’ll say this: my team is basically a Fighter, Fighter/Thief, and Mage. That’s a sick party, IMO.
You forgot dog. :x
Akuma is most certainly an evil mother-fucker.
Case in point lol
I know technically Ghost rider is a good guy, but I feel he’s just “Vengence” yes Blaze is in control most of the time but really isn’t Ghost Rider’s purpose is to destroy all those who deserve it? Wether they be good or bad?
Akuma just feels evil to me, he has no plans for world domination and just wants to be the greatest warrior ever, but he really has an “evil way” of presenting himself and wandering around. Wow Firebrand is good? surprised face.
I actually dislike Rocket Raccoon. The premise of an anthropomorphic, heavily armed woodland creature doesn’t seem right to me. Well it’s not so much that, but just that he sees himself as deadly because he has all these weapons, but seriously, he’s a talking raccoon.
He has a “don’t mess with me attitude” like some of the other characters but he doesn’t have the threatening look to back it up, like Wolverine does. He may have the weapons, but that’s about it…
Yep. He can sometimes act good for selfish reasons, but he still saves the Demon Realm in his games.
I think thats the whole point lol. Its Ironic, it’s pretty much BB Hood, nonthreatening andd possibly cute outlook (he looks my dog sorta so I found him cute sorta) but he’s quite ferocious. With Phoenix Wright he’s funny and completely out of his element but he’s still dangerous lol.
Personality wise I guess Spider-Man and Frank fit me pretty well, I taunt my opponents allot but nothing overkill like Wesker’s really long end-quote speech bubble that starts with “How does it feel to be inferior, to be destined for mediocrity…” Thats just too much burning.
